Lance Reddick<\/a>, an actor who brought poise, gravitas and depth to even the smallest role, has died.<\/p>\n

Best known for movies including the \u2018John Wick<\/a>\u2019 series and TV shows including \u2018The Wire\u2019, \u2018Fringe,\u2019 and ‘Bosch<\/a>,’ Reddick was 60.<\/p>\n

Who was Lance Reddick?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in 1962 in Baltimore, Reddick\u2019s initial passion was for music; he attended the Peabody Preparatory Institute and completed a summer program on music theory and composition at the Walden School as a teenager. Yet acting calling to him: after earning his Bachelor of Music degree from Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, he relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in the 1980s to start attending the Yale School of Drama in 1991.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n

Reddick began his screen career in the mid-1990s, guesting on such series as \u2018The Nanny\u2019 and \u2018New York Undercover\u2019. Later in the decade, he appeared on the big screen in films including \u2018Great Expectations<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018The Siege<\/a>\u2019 before recurring on HBO\u2019s Emmy-winning 2000 miniseries \u2018The Corner\u2019, which was based on\u00a0David Simon<\/a>\u2019s book. The same year, he scored a role on fellow gritty HBO drama \u2018Oz\u2019.<\/p>\n

But all that was prologue to the first of his most notable TV roles \u2013\u2013 Simon cast him in \u2018The Wire\u2019 as Cedric Daniels, an iconic character who appeared throughout the show\u2019s run. He also won fans for his work as Phillip Broyles in sci-fi drama \u2018Fringe\u2019.<\/p>\n

More recently, he\u2019s been back on the TV cop drama beat with \u2018Bosch\u2019. But his career has been incredibly varied, Reddick showing up on shows such as \u2018The Blacklist\u2019, \u2018Castle\u2019, \u2018Intelligence\u2019, \u2018Castlevania\u2019, \u2018Corporate\u2019, \u2018The Legend of Vox Machina,’ and\u00a0Netflix<\/a>‘s ‘Resident Evil<\/a>.’<\/p>\n

Which movies has Lance Reddick been in?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Movie-wise, he’s enjoyed a long and successful career that takes in a wide variety of films including \u2018White House Down<\/a>\u2019, \u2018Little Woods<\/a>\u2019, \u2018Angel has Fallen<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018One Night in Miami\u2026<\/a>\u2019 But perhaps he’s become best known as Charon, the stoic, badass concierge of the Continental hotel in the \u2018John Wick\u2019 movies.<\/p>\n

Reddick has a few films left in which audiences can enjoy his work: he\u2019s in the remake of \u2018White Men Can\u2019t Jump<\/a>\u2019, due out this year, \u2018Saint Sebastian\u2019, ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial\u2019 (which is still in production), and \u2018Wick\u2019 spin-off \u2018Ballerina\u2019, which stars Ana de Armas. He\u2019s also playing Zeus in the new\u00a0Disney+<\/a>\u00a0adaptation of \u2018Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/a>\u2019, which should be out next year.<\/p>\n

Most recently out promoting \u2018John Wick: Chapter 4<\/a>\u2019, which is in theaters next week, the actor was found dead of natural causes at his home in Studio City. Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie Reddick, and children, Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.<\/p>\n
