Best Response to Global Warming is to Do \u2018Nothing\u2019, MIT Climate Scientist Says<\/a><\/p>\n

MIT climate scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen said this week that humanity should do \u201cnothing\u201d about global warming and should focus instead on \u201cresilience.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a March 21\u00a0interview<\/a> with Andrew Bolt of Sky News Australia, Lindzen \u2014 an atmospheric physicist and emeritus professor of meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) \u2014 declared that climate alarmism \u201cis exploiting people\u2019s ignorance to promote fear and use it as a lever.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.N. Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0last week, for instance, that \u201cwarp speed climate action\u201d is urgently needed to stave off the coming climate Armageddon. Every country \u201cmust massively fast-track climate efforts,\u201d Guterres declared, because the \u201cclimate time-bomb is ticking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need climate action on all fronts \u2014 everything, everywhere, all at once,\u201d Guterres urged.<\/p>\n

According to Lindzen, such alarmism is not shared by the bulk of the scientific community.<\/p>\n

\u201cA large number of scientists are saying, yes, indeed, it\u2019s warming,\u201d Lindzen acknowledged. \u201cAnd they might even add that perhaps there is a matter of concern. Relatively few that I know of who even support the narrative would ever say that this is involving an existential threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked point blank, \u201cWhat do you think we should do about global warming?\u201d Lindzen replied: \u201cNothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindzen, known for his research on the dynamics of the atmosphere, including the study of atmospheric tides and the interactions between the atmosphere and the oceans, said that there is \u201cpretty universal agreement\u201d that \u201cif the whole Anglosphere and the European Union were to shut down completely, bury all industrial activity so we don\u2019t generate CO2 \u2026 its impact on climate would be negligible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rest of the world is going to continue and they\u2019re now dominating emissions,\u201d he explained. \u201cSo no matter what you believe about climate, our actions will do nothing about climate.\u201d<\/p>\n
