Michigan boy who used slingshot to save sister says he ‘was just lucky’<\/a><\/p>\n

Alpena Township, Mich.<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 A 13-year-old Michigan boy who\u00a0used a slingshot to save his 8-year-old sister<\/a>\u00a0from an attempted kidnapping said he was \u201cfreaking out\u201d and simply reached for something that could stop the attack.<\/p>\n

“So I grab my slingshot and open the window and I grab two things \u2014 a marble and a gravel rock or something,\u201d Owen Burns told WWTV\/WWUP-TV in Cadillac in northern Michigan.<\/p>\n

Police said Owen struck the 17-year-old assailant in the head and chest, and his sister was able to get away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just lucky. He\u2019s just a big target because he\u2019s not like one Pepsi can,\u201d Owen said.<\/p>\n

The attempted kidnapping occurred on May 10 outside the family’s home in Alpena Township. Owen’s sister was outside looking for mushrooms.<\/p>\n

“I say, \u2018OK, be careful.’ \u2026 And then, boom, something happens,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n
