Gavin Newsom Says Something So Mind-numbingly Stupid, Only a Leftist Could Believe It<\/a><\/p>\n

With our country more divided than most everyone alive has ever seen it, we\u2019re keenly aware that Leftists seem to live in an entirely separate reality from our own. In their world, it\u2019s perpetually the hottest year\u00a0evuh<\/em>, Klansmen rove the streets in gas-guzzling trucks, murdering unarmed black youth, women are both superior and oppressed, and men have babies. So we shouldn\u2019t be too surprised when one of them says something that manifestly isn\u2019t so. Nonetheless, occasionally one of the luminaries of the Left will utter something so extraordinarily stupid that I am compelled to call it out. Today\u2019s honoree is California Governor and 2024 Democrat presidential understudy Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n

Newsom recently posted a video on social media that was filmed while he was in Idaho over the weekend, allegedly stumping for Biden but coincidentally building up his own base. Anyway, the video shows Newsom browsing in a bookstore, while a white text overlay reads, \u201cVisiting a bookstore with banned books in Boise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s pause a minute and think this through.<\/p>\n

When something is banned, it is removed \u2014 like a Republican president can be banned from social media platforms. It becomes illegal and cannot be found or obtained. Yet, here is Governor Nuisance, clowning around in\u00a0a store full of so-called banned books<\/em>, prominently displayed for sale. In a dark red state, no less. How is he able to do this?<\/p>\n

Because, as with so many other words, \u201cbanned\u201d does not mean what the Left says it means. To the Left, a book becomes \u201cbanned\u201d if a responsible adult points out that it\u2019s pornographic and not appropriate for minors.<\/p>\n

\u201cBook bans are at a record high \u2014 there have been over 1,200 challenges in the last year\u2026\u201d tweeted Gov. Tiresome, giving away the game by conflating \u201cbanned\u201d with \u201cchallenged.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rest of the video is similarly idiotic. The text changes to \u201c2022 set a new record\u2026\u201d while the image behind it shows the books\u00a0The Color Purple<\/em>\u00a0by Alice Walker,\u00a0The Bluest Eye<\/em> by Toni Morrison, and a book by Judy Blume. Of course, Toni Morrison has received more awards and honors than I have space to list in this article. Walker and Blume have sold millions of books, been widely read by multiple generations, and have even reached the writers\u2019 pinnacle of having major motion pictures made from their books. But, you know \u2014 they\u2019re \u201cbanned\u201d or something.<\/p>\n

Newsom\u2019s video could not be any more nonsensical or patronizing, but progressives will eat it up and preen:<\/p>\n

Book bans are at a record high — there have been over 1,200 challenges in the last year, nearly double the (then-record) total from 2021.<\/p>\n
