{"id":94618,"date":"2023-07-22T23:48:29","date_gmt":"2023-07-23T04:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=94618"},"modified":"2023-07-22T23:48:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-23T04:48:29","slug":"94618","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=94618","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/san-francisco-backs-down-tables-bill-that-would-make-most-of-the-city-a-sensitive-place-ban-concealed-carry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco Backs Down, Tables Bill That Would Make Most of the City a \u2018Sensitive Place,\u2019 Ban Concealed Carry<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the CCRKBA . . .<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors has backed down on a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sfgov.legistar.com\/View.ashx?M=F&amp;ID=12095538&amp;GUID=8E1315BB-AD5B-4A11-8128-5EDC61779022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">proposed ordinance<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that would make much of the city into a \u201c<a title=\"This is an affiliate ad link.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=ale&amp;ti=11297&amp;pri=9659&amp;pw=275597&amp;mi=16365&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwethepeopleholsters.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc,nofollow\">gun<\/a>-free zone\u201d after the Second Amendment Foundation and California Rifle &amp; Pistol Association promised legal action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The proposal was championed by Supervisor Catherine Stefani, who essentially tabled the motion indefinitely, after bemoaning the 2023 Supreme Court\u00a0<i>Bruen<\/i>\u00a0decision, which is giving\u00a0<a title=\"This is an affiliate ad link.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avantlink.com\/click.php?tt=ale&amp;ti=11297&amp;pri=9659&amp;pw=275597&amp;mi=16365&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwethepeopleholsters.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc,nofollow\">gun<\/a> control proponents fits, while jarring the San Francisco Police Department to start issuing carry permits. She referenced, perhaps as a face-saving maneuver, proposed state legislation that may be adopted later this summer by lawmakers in Sacramento, as a reason to stand down on the proposed ordinance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThis happened after CRPA and SAF sent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Comment-Ltrs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">a letter<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to the Board of Supervisors explaining why the planned ordinance would be unconstitutional,\u201d said CRPA President Chuck Michel, a longtime practicing attorney and gun\u00a0rights authority in California. \u201cIt is truly unfortunate that San Francisco politicians refuse to respect the Second Amendment and can\u2019t accept the new legal reality that people have a Second Amendment right to carry a firearm in public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAs soon as we were advised of this proposal,\u201d said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, \u201cwe took action. This is not the first time we\u2019ve had to stop extremist gun\u00a0control in San Francisco. We successfully sued the city twice over attempted handgun bans, and won both times. We\u2019re prepared to do it again, but our letter to the Board of Supervisors evidently has made that unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOur warning to the Board of Supervisors was direct and left little room for doubt about our intentions,\u201d noted SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. \u201cThe letter clearly explained why the proposal was bad policy, and would result in another SAF-CRPA victory. We also reminded the Board it should wait to see whether the state legislation is adopted and how it fares under litigation.
