To Win Our Nation\u2019s Wars\u201d?<\/a>
\n Lions Led by Donkeys.<\/em><\/p>\n

The 248-year-old institution that this country depends upon to fight and win our wars has lost its focus, which is, \u201cto win our nation\u2019s wars<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 Preparing to do that is one of the most complex tasks on earth.\u00a0 There is no profession more complex, more dangerous, or more crucial to the country\u2019s survival than the United States Army. But its focus on \u201cwoke\u201d social solutions has diluted the necessary focus on that duty.<\/p>\n

The Army has thousands of magnificent and highly skilled officers and enlisted men and women who perform continuously at the highest levels.\u00a0 Yet, as German General Erwin Rommel said of the British after he captured Tobruk, they are \u201clions commanded by donkeys.\u201d\u00a0 Today\u2019s donkeys are officers and civilians in the highest levels of the current administration, up to and including the Commander in Chief, Joseph R. Biden and a Secretary of the Army who wants to reduce recruiting from families with a tradition of service because\u00a0she fears a \u201cwarrior caste<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 Donkeys indeed. And they set the tone for all their subordinates in the Army.<\/p>\n

The latest display of the donkeys\u2019 madness is an article on the Army\u2019s official website, lauding another man who claims to be a woman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The first sentence of the\u00a0article<\/a>\u00a0accompanying the photo pronounces that \u201cComing out as a transgender female saved Maj. Rachel Jones\u2019 life.\u201d It goes on to describe how an in-the-closet Jones \u201clived every day deeply depressed and suicidal.\u201d\u00a0 After President Joe Biden lifted the prior ban on transgenders in the military, \u201cJones was finally able to come out publicly as transgender.\u201d\u00a0 The Army\u2019s article does not state that Jones had any type of so-called \u201cgender affirming surgery,\u201d so presumably \u201ccoming out\u201d merely means that he announced that he now prefers to be known as \u201cshe.\u201d\u00a0 This allows \u201cher\u201d to \u201clive her truth\u201d and be \u201cso much more comfortable with myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The article claims that any thoughts of suicide are now a thing of the past.\u00a0 It does not explain how an obviously unstable Jones managed to remain in the Army and get promoted to major.\u00a0 Nor does it mention the suicide rate among transgenders who have \u201ccome out\u201d or had the life-altering surgery, such as the\u00a030+ year study<\/a>\u00a0that concluded that \u201cTen to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, this author\u2019s quarrel is not with MAJ Jones, who obviously is a person in need of help.\u00a0 No responsible person wishes him or any other human being to suffer depression to the point of potential suicide.\u00a0 No, the proper quarrel is with the donkeys leading the Army who create the command climate that tells subordinates that, in the words of West Point\u2019s Battalion Orders in 1820, Jones is a soldier to be \u201cvenerated and emulated.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The article is correct in saying that it is \u201cimportant for Soldiers and civilians to support their peers by watching for depressive or suicidal warning signs and changes in behavior.\u201d But from that proposition it does not follow that the U.S. Army should hold Jones up as a military model to be admired and emulated, as the Army\u2019s article has done.<\/p>\n

The Army need not and should not laud mentally disturbed people by featuring them on its official web site.\u00a0 Rather, it should compassionately empathize and seek treatment for such troubled people. Here is a typical reaction from a veteran of Army combat in Vietnam: \u201cThis is not just any old article by some unknown blogger.\u00a0 It is a posting on the official U.S. Army web site.\u00a0 Of all the people in the Army,\u00a0this<\/em>\u00a0is the person the Army chooses to fawn over by plastering a fawning article about them on the pages of its government web site?<\/p>\n

And make no mistake about it.\u00a0 The faceless officers who approved this article and the photos on the Army\u2019s official web site did so because they know it is consistent with the wishes and intent of Joe Biden and the other donkeys running him. This president has made clear that the \u201ceyewash\u201d of transgenders and other LGBTQ+ appointees in high places and the resulting popularity with his leftist base, takes priority over competence and safeguarding national interests.\u00a0 Let us not forget Sam Brinton, the\u00a0assistant secretary responsible for spent nuclear fuel<\/a>, Rachel Levine,\u00a0the phony four-star admiral<\/a>, the incompetent \u201cMayor Pete\u201d Buttigieg, the hapless White House press secretary, and\u00a0many, many others<\/a>. These high-profile appointments, especially when married to obvious incompetence, leave no doubt about what the President prioritizes. There is a pattern here and military officers know well that such a pattern reflects the \u201ccommander\u2019s intent<\/a>,\u201d which guides their actions under standard Army doctrine.<\/p>\n

Consider the message sent to other soldiers and to potential recruits and their families by the Army\u2019s article.\u00a0 Rather than photos of soldiers performing challenging tasks or even looking like they are prepared to engage the enemies of the United States, we have this:<\/p>\n

Stuffed animals, some sort of rainbow-patterned knitting, and pronoun commands!\u00a0 This from a U.S. Army major. But military observers will instantly notice more: the obvious lack of physical fitness.\u00a0 Every soldier is required to pass regular physical fitness tests.\u00a0 It is not only a job requirement, but also is part of the required image that the Army wishes \u2013 or used to wish \u2013 to project.\u00a0 Virtually every soldier who looks at the picture of Major Jones will react, \u201cAnd he<\/em>\u00a0is supposed to lead\u00a0me<\/em>?\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Here is a succinct reaction from a former Green Beret officer with extensive combat experience against ISIS: We once celebrated selfless service and warriors like Ulysses S. Grant,\u00a0Audie Murphy<\/a>, and\u00a0Roy Benavidez<\/a>\u00a0who did great things under fire – now we celebrate self-centered identities and cross-dressers who can\u2019t pass height\/weight standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Consider also the effect on recruiting:\u00a0 The Army is\u00a0struggling with recruiting<\/a>\u00a0enough people to fulfill its critical mission of defending the country. And they then post this article on the Army\u2019s official web site. Does the Army think that Major Jones projects the kind of leadership image that will build confidence in potential recruits and cause them to say, \u201cNow\u00a0that<\/em>\u00a0is the kind of officer that I want to serve under.\u201d?\u00a0 And I hasten to add that I am sorry if it hurts Major Jones\u2019 feelings to point this out, but this is not\u00a0Boston University Law School<\/a>; if your feelings are hurt that easily, you don\u2019t belong in the U.S. Army.<\/p>\n

Some will say, \u201cBut, but, \u2026 but \u2026 What about her life\u2019s story? Look how she overcame hardship that could have taken her life.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t that a positive story that should be told?\u201d Stories like that are worth telling.\u00a0 However, perhaps the Army officers who oversee the Army\u2019s official web site should have insisted upon another soldier to illustrate that story.\u00a0 Maybe the\u00a0story<\/a>\u00a0of Special Forces Sergeant Nick Lavery, pictured here:<\/p>\n

I ask the Army Recruiting Command:\u00a0 Which is more inspiring?<\/p>\n

Perhaps there is some good that can come out of this ill-advised adventure.\u00a0 After all, there is some chance that this story and its images will help recruiting \u2013\u00a0for the Marine Corps<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Its recruiting philosophy<\/a>\u00a0is decidedly different.<\/p>\n
