Americans, Part 1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was looking up gun statistics for my article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/kevindowneyjr\/2023\/08\/19\/liberties-under-assault-2nd-amendment-edition-n1720397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liberties Under Assault: 2nd Amendment Edition<\/a>,\u201d and I tripped on two articles tackling \u201cgun myths.\u201d One was from the Bolshie-riffic prags at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), and the other was by sane people at gunfacts.info. So I thought I\u2019d dig into both and see which site actually knows the difference between an AR-15 and an \u201cassault rifle.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>FACT-O-RAMA!<\/strong>\u00a0An AR-15 is a semi-automatic firearm, and an assault rifle is a non-existent boogeyman boom-boom stick that haunts tree-huggers in their sleep and makes them wet their non-binary Underoos.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Before we get started, I just want to apologize for the phrase \u201cfact-check\u201d in the headline. I abhor the phrase \u201cfact-check\u201d because it is frequently used by commie websites that employ each other\u2019s articles to verify or debunk alleged \u201cfacts.\u201d Meaning, the pinko skanks at USA Today will post \u201cFact-Check: Did Biden Make Millions Selling Influence to our Enemies Across the Globe? The New York Times says \u2018No.&#8217;\u201d It\u2019s akin to Stalin saying, \u201cIf you don\u2019t believe\u00a0<em>me<\/em>, ask Beria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, I will be doing a\u00a0<em>real<\/em>\u00a0fact-check on gun myths. Let\u2019s get this \u201cmyth\u201d brawl underway.<\/p>\n<p>In this corner, wearing rainbow trunks, weighing in at 51 kilograms,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/publichealth.jhu.edu\/2022\/debunking-myths-about-gun-violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johns Hopkins University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>MYTH: URBAN HOMICIDES FALSELY INFLATE STATISTICS ON U.S. GUN DEATHS.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/publichealth.jhu.edu\/2022\/debunking-myths-about-gun-violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FACT<\/a>: <span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe common trope is that places like Baltimore or Detroit or Chicago are the reason we have so many gun deaths in this country,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/publichealth.jhu.edu\/faculty\/3089\/cassandra-crifasi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cass Crifasi, PhD \u201914, MPH<\/a>, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">the Center\u2019s director of research and policy, told the<\/span>\u00a0<a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/breaking\/ct-uvalde-school-shooting-local-reax-20220525-2zmciuwaergbhldgnfszdivpzq-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-extlink=\"\">Chicago Tribune<\/a>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">And yes, those places \u2026 have unacceptable rates of gun homicides. But the places with the highest rates of death are not Maryland, Michigan, and Illinois. They are Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming, Missouri, and Alabama. The places with weaker gun laws have higher rates of death. More people died from guns in Texas than Illinois, when suicide and accidental shootings are included.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Hold on, let\u2019s look at that last phrase, \u201cwhen suicide and accidental shootings are included.\u201d That\u2019s just a lefty pivot. Nice try, jackpuddings. We see how you are trying to manipulate the game.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, roughly two-thirds of gun-related deaths are suicides, but that isn\u2019t what this is about. The left needs to lie and squirm like the lizard people they are and add \u201csuicides and accidental shootings\u201d in order to \u201cprove\u201d that red-state dwellers, meaning conservatives, are more gun-happy than city folk, and as you\u2019re about to see, that just ain\u2019t true.\u00a0 But again, they\u2019ll say what they must to confiscate your guns.<\/p>\n<p>JHU claims that most shootings are taking place in red states. What it fails to mention is that they are happening in blue cities in red states. And since JHU mentioned my home state of Michigan, check out this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrace.org\/2023\/02\/gun-violence-map-america-shootings\/?place=Michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map<\/a>\u00a0of shootings in the Great Lakes State.<\/p>\n<p>If you take Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Detroit out of the picture, shootings drop significantly. And since JHU brought it up, I\u2019ll add that the Yoopers in the Upper Peninsula (UP), of Michigan aren\u2019t very violent. I suspect those snowbillies in da UP are not shooting people, accidentally or otherwise, just themselves, eh?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>BLAST-O-RAMA!<\/strong>\u00a0Out of a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neighborhoodscout.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">possible 100<\/a>,<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> with 100 being the safest cities in the U.S., the aforementioned Michigan cities scored the following: Detroit: 1, Lansing: 5, Grand Rapids: 7, Flint: 17 (don\u2019t drink the water, and honestly, that score of 17 seems dubious). The mayors of Detroit, Flint, and Grand Rapids are Democrats. The mayor of Lansing has no party.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hey look, I\u2019m\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/children-families\/suicides-often-linked-opioids-spike-rural-michigan-and-among-young\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">correct<\/a>. Suicide in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/michigan-health-watch\/suicide-depression-rise-rural-michigan-psychiatrists-are-scarce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rural Michigan is a problem<\/a>. But again, we are talking about guns used to kill people illegally. It\u2019s nice of the Punchinellos to drag suicide into a \u201cgun violence\u201d debate and try to use depression to prove a point.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s look at the other states mentioned:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wyoming-struggles-answers-amid-growing-suicide-rate\/story?id=86448713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suicide rate<\/a>\u00a0in Wyoming is more than double the national average. This is where the \u201cgun deaths\u201d come from. Even the\u00a0<em>sitzpinklers<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2020\/01\/13\/most-dangerous-states-in-america-violent-crime-murder-rate\/40968963\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>\u00a0listed Wyoming as #43 in a list of the most dangerous states. Debunked.<\/li>\n<li>Mississippi\u2019s suicide rate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/suicide\/suicide-rates-by-state.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clocks in at 27th in the nation<\/a>, but the state ranks highest in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlbt.com\/2020\/10\/20\/analysis-mississippis-homicide-rate-ranks-highest-nation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder rate<\/a>. One-quarter of the murders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlbt.com\/2020\/10\/20\/analysis-mississippis-homicide-rate-ranks-highest-nation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">take place<\/a>\u00a0in Jackson, which is run by a Democrat mayor. Democrats run five out of Mississippi\u2019s ten most dangerous cities, (Republicans run four, and one is run by an Independent). Debunked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>FACT-O-RAMA!<\/strong>\u00a0Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes once\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjtv.com\/news\/bricks-rocks-and-bottles-kenneth-stokes-throws-insult-at-sheriff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">that people throw, \u201cbricks, rocks, and bottles\u201d at police chasing black suspects.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Six out of Louisiana\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/housegrail.com\/most-dangerous-cities-in-louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eight most dangerous cities<\/a>\u00a0are run by Democrats. One is run by a Republican and one by an Independent. Debunked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conclusion:\u00a0<\/strong>We can see that the beta cucks at JHU had to twist their data in a pathetic and vain attempt to prove that conservatives and guns are \u201cdangerous.\u201d A vast majority of gun crimes committed in red states took place in blue cities.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>FACT-O-RAMA!<\/strong>\u00a0As of this writing, there have been 763 defensive shootings in 2023.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And in this corner, wearing red, white, and blue shorts, weighing in at 188 lbs,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunfacts.info\/gun-policy-info\/crime-and-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gunfacts.info<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h6 class=\"font-inherit\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Myth: Gun violence is widespread in America<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Fact:\u00a0Misuse of guns is highly centralized in major metro areas, within poor neighborhoods (typically street gang infested) and thus highly among young black males.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to these\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunviolencearchive.org\/charts-and-maps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maps<\/a>\u00a0from gunviolencearchives.com, we can clearly see that most shootings take place in the eastern third of the U.S. The shootings make a significant drop in eastern Texas (roughly San Antonio) and don\u2019t pick up again until the west coast.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrace.org\/2023\/02\/gun-violence-map-america-shootings\/?place=Ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map<\/a>. It\u2019s interactive. You can zoom anywhere in the U.S. and see that most shootings take place in bigger towns and cities (derp).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion:\u00a0<\/strong>Gunfacts.info knows what it\u2019s talking about. Shootings aren\u2019t happening everywhere. Most take place in bigger cities. Unlike the milquetoasts at JHU, gunfacts.info doesn\u2019t need to twist data to support laughable narratives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner, Round One:<\/strong>\u00a0Gunfacts.info!<\/p>\n<p>Check back for round two in a few days!
