Homeowner shoots intruder wanted by sheriff\u2019s office<\/a><\/p>\n

BUTLER, Pa. \u2014 According to Butler City Police, a man broke into a house where the homeowner held him at gunpoint and eventually shot him.<\/p>\n

Channel 11\u2032s Rich Pierce spoke to the homeowner, Jeremy Cox.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing was really going through my head except for the fact that I didn\u2019t want to kill him, but if I had to kill him, I would,\u201d Cox said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a loud bang and a scrape sound. We just kind of looked at each other like, \u2018What the hell was that?\u2019\u201d Cox said. He and his girlfriend had just ordered pizza when they heard the noise and went downstairs to investigate.<\/p>\n

Cox says Harvey was halfway through the door when he saw him. He grabbed his gun while his girlfriend called 911.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said he was hiding from the cops and they were outside,\u201d Cox said. The cops were not outside.<\/p>\n

Jeremy says Harvey had a mostly empty liter of vodka with him and appeared intoxicated. He told Harvey to put his hands on the washing machine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took a step back again, he took a step forward. He kept telling me, \u2018no, no, no\u2019 then I fired a shot to the side of him to hopefully scare him,\u201d Cox said. \u201cHe said \u2018no\u2019 and he came forward again. I shot him in his side.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bullet grazed Harvey. According to police, he was treated for the wound at Butler Hospital. Jeremy is still thinking about pulling the trigger.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is. It\u2019s weighing on me a lot because a lot of people are telling me I should\u2019ve taken his life. Other people are saying \u2018you did good\u2019 by not taking his life. It\u2019s kind of eating at me.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Butler Police, Harvey had been wanted by the Butler County Sheriff\u2019s Office. He\u2019s facing a felony burglary charge once he\u2019s released from the hospital. Jeremy will likely face no charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
