Car burglars don’t get any more leeway<\/p>\n
Man shot by person that allegedly broke into his car in Bloomfield<\/a> Police said a man and apparent thief are injured after an attempted car burglary turned into a violent confrontation in Bloomfield on Thursday.<\/p>\n Officers were called to a home on Cottage Grove Circle at about 5 a.m. for a reported car break-in and shots fired incident.<\/p>\n A homeowner told authorities that someone had broken into his car, which was parked in his driveway. The alleged thief approached him and the man fired what he described as a warning shot into the ground.<\/p>\n That’s when the suspect ran towards a vehicle parked in the road, grabbed a firearm and shot at the man, hitting his arm. The alleged thief fled the scene, according to police.<\/p>\n The homeowner was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Police later discovered that the suspect walked into a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to his face.<\/p>\n Hartford police said a car with shell casings and blood was located on Madison Street, which is near the hospital. The vehicle was seized and towed to the Bloomfield Police Department.<\/p>\n Detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. 23-year-old Yavier Ruiz-Valez was arrested and faces several charges in connection to the incident, including assault with a firearm, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, burglary, larceny and more.<\/p>\n Suspected car burglar shot by vehicle’s owner outside SW Houston apartment complex<\/a><\/p>\n HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A suspected car burglar was shot in southwest Houston early Tuesday morning, according to police.<\/p>\n Houston police responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of W. Airport Boulevard shortly after 4 a.m.<\/p>\n At the scene, a citizen waved officers down and told them their vehicle had been broken into.<\/p>\n The vehicle owner told HPD they noticed their car had been broken into, and then they spotted two individuals nearby. That’s when a shootout began with the suspects, the owner said.<\/p>\n The suspects allegedly stole a handgun from the car before the shootout.<\/p>\n One of the suspects was shot and officers applied two tourniquets at the scene. He was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.<\/p>\n No one else was injured, HPD said.
