{"id":96286,"date":"2023-09-25T00:17:01","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T05:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=96286"},"modified":"2023-09-25T00:17:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T05:17:01","slug":"96286","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=96286","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bill Gates on Climate: \u201cAre We Science People or Are We the Idiots?\u201d\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wmBj-5owOLA\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/TgOYn#selection-337.0-341.158\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bill Gates Says \u2018Brute Force\u2019 Climate Policies Won\u2019t Work<\/a><br \/>\nSpeaking at a live event at The Times Center in New York, the billionaire philanthropist argued for a pragmatic, technology-driven approach to global warming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we the science people or are we the idiots?\u201d asked Bill Gates, during a discussion about his pragmatic strategy to fighting climate<\/p>\n<p>Bill Gates, the multibillionaire founder of Microsoft, argued for a pragmatic, technology-driven approach to fighting climate change on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you try to do climate brute force, you will get people who say, \u2018I like climate but I don\u2019t want to bear that cost and reduce my standard of living,\u2019\u201d Mr. Gates said at the Climate Forward event hosted by The New York Times. \u201cWithout innovation, it\u2019s unlikely, particularly in middle-income countries, that the brute force approach will be successful.\u201d<br \/>\nMr. Gates also said winning more bipartisan support was needed in order for policy to actually stick. \u201cRepublicans for climate change action are gold, you know,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s got to be a number that somehow we manage to increase over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t have a climate policy that when one party is in charge goes full speed ahead and stops cold,\u201d he added. \u201cThese are 30-year investments in steel factories, new ways of making meat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Gates, who in recent weeks has espoused an everything-will-be-fine approach to the climate crisis, was asked whether he could reconcile that stance with the reality of extreme weather around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m the person who is doing the most on climate in terms of the innovation and how we can square multiple goals,\u201d said Mr. Gates, a co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a major donor to health- and climate-related causes. \u201cThere\u2019s very limited money for causes to reduce inequity in the world.
