Mask Off! \u2018Bipartisan Gun Safety\u2019 Group 97percent\u2019s Executive Director Joins Gun Control Group Brady<\/a><\/p>\n 97percent calls itself as \u201ca bipartisan group of gun owners and non-gun owners,\u201d and describes their purported mission as follows:<\/p>\n We are bringing gun owners directly into the conversation about gun safety \u2014 creating spaces where both gun owners and non-gun owners can have an honest, civil discussion about ways to reduce gun-related violence, while respecting the 2nd Amendment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n How bipartisan is this group, and how seriously do they take the concerns of gun owners? For starters, their\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0has several instances of the phrase \u201cgun safety\u201d but not a single mention of \u201cgun control.\u201d 97percent\u2019s\u00a0research<\/a>\u00a0(archived<\/a>\u00a0links<\/a>) led them to support violent misdemeanor laws, universal gun registry (i.e., universal background checks), red flag confiscations, and permit requirements to purchase\u00a0any<\/i>\u00a0gun. They want these laws implemented federally, and where the Constitution bars the federal government from doing so, they want the federal government to \u201cincentivize\u201d the states to do it. They have\u00a0expressed concern over\u00a0Bruen<\/i><\/a>\u00a0(archived<\/a>\u00a0links<\/a>) because of its removal of\u00a0corrupt<\/a>\u00a0discretion<\/a>\u00a0from the hands of government apparatchiks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t end there. 97percent even filed an\u00a0amicus brief in support of the US Government<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0Rahimi<\/i>\u00a0case, which is as much a Fifth Amendment Case as it is a Second Amendment case. If you\u2019re still unconvinced that 97percent is really a sock puppet front group for gun control, the Executive Director of that group has made it abundantly clear by\u00a0moving to Brady<\/a>\u00a0(archived<\/a>\u00a0links<\/a>), an outright gun control group:<\/p>\n
