The 2nd Amendment is not about Hunting<\/a>
\nPaul Revere did not shout “The Deer are Coming” during his Midnight Ride<\/p>\n

A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Guy Relford\u2019s show on Saturday was about Indiana University\u2019s symposium \u201cThe Courts, the 2nd Amendment, and Public Policy\u201d. The symposium had the provocative subtitle \u201cJust Shoot Me\u201d.\u00a0 Academia, liberal courts, and liberal politicians erroneously misinterpret the 2nd Amendment. The 2008 Heller Decision settled much of the debate. \u201cMilitia\u201d does not mean the National Guard. In 1791, when the 2nd Amendment was ratified, \u201cmilitia\u201d meant the \u201cwhole of the body of the people\u201d. Any member of the community was considered a member of the militia. As Guy has mentioned on numerous occasions on his show, \u201cwell-regulated\u201d does not mean \u201cregulated\u201d by the government. \u201cWell-regulated\u201d means a \u201cworking\u201d and or efficient\u201d militia.<\/p>\n

The President and many liberal politicians believe that the 2nd Amendment in regard to private ownership of arms is for hunting. While many colonialists were expert hunters, the 2nd Amendment was not written for hunting. It was written for self-defense, and the defense against tyranny.<\/p>\n

As Guy so excellently explains using Paul Revere\u2019s midnight ride,<\/p>\n

In riding through the countryside, he (Revere) did not say, \u201cThe deer are coming, the deer are coming!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Revere\u2019s warning was to alert the people to arm themselves against the British \u201cRegulars\u201d who were coming for them. The Founding Fathers, when writing the 2nd Amendment, understood the importance of the people being armed against tyranny. They lived it.
