{"id":97251,"date":"2023-10-28T11:22:37","date_gmt":"2023-10-28T16:22:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=97251"},"modified":"2023-10-28T11:22:41","modified_gmt":"2023-10-28T16:22:41","slug":"97251","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milesfortis.com\/?p=97251","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/johnalucas6.substack.com\/p\/the-biden-administration-reaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Biden Administration Reaches New Heights of Reprehensibility<\/a><br \/>\n<em>Our national security interests are proving to be too much of a hard sell, so Biden goes with the &#8220;war is good for business&#8221; route to raise money for war.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Has a single member of the White House staff ever held a dying American soldier in his arms as he bled out, calling for his mother?\u00a0 Have any of them ever loaded the blood-soaked bodies of his wounded and killed onto a medivac helicopter and then endured sleepless nights thinking about the visits that their families are about to get and the ensuing destruction of their lives and dreams?<\/p>\n<p>These were the first questions that popped into my mind today when I saw the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/25\/biden-ukraine-aid-messaging-00123466\" rel=\"\">report from\u00a0<\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/25\/biden-ukraine-aid-messaging-00123466\" rel=\"\">Politico<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that the Biden administration is promoting the war in Ukraine\u00a0<em><strong>because it is good for American business<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I think that the members of the administration could not have experienced these things because if they had,\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0if they had one ounce of humanity in them, they could not possibly have promoted war on the \u201cit\u2019s good for business\u201d rationale.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently multiple White House aides have been involved in this abomination because Politico is quite specific: \u201c<em>The White House has been quietly urging lawmakers in both parties to\u00a0<strong>sell the war efforts abroad as a potential economic boom at home<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Aides have been distributing talking points to Democrats and Republicans who have been supportive of continued efforts to fund Ukraine\u2019s resistance to make the case that\u00a0<strong>doing so is good for American jobs<\/strong>, according to five White House aides and lawmakers familiar with the effort and granted anonymity to speak freely<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration is fearful that it cannot sell the additional aid package on the merits and on national security grounds, because \u201c<em>The talking points are an implicit recognition that the administration has work to do in selling its $106 billion foreign aid supplemental request \u2014\u00a0<strong>and that talking about it squarely under the umbrella of national security interests hasn\u2019t done the trick.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The reprehensibility of these comments cannot be overstated.\u00a0 Biden\u2019s administration is peopled with a number of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/johnalucas6.substack.com\/p\/who-are-the-elites-anyway?utm_source=profile&amp;utm_medium=reader2\" rel=\"\">elites<\/a>\u201d who probably are familiar, at least in a theoretical, intellectual sense, with John Stuart Mill\u2019s dictum, \u201c<em>War is<\/em>\u00a0<em>an ugly thing<\/em>,\u201d \u2018but, hey, if it\u2019s good for business, particularly in electoral swing states, let\u2019s go for it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>I am old enough to remember how the left tarred George Bush, Dick Cheney, and others in the GOP with the argument that they wanted war because it was good for their supporters in big business. I never put any stock in these arguments because I thought that no American could be so evil as to support war as a sop to big business.
