agents who served in military deemed \u2018disloyal\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>More whistleblowers have stepped forward to tell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/congress\/\">Congress<\/a>\u00a0that high-ranking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0officials are targeting agents, specifically former military members, for their political beliefs and trying to force them out of the bureau.<\/p>\n<p>A Marine and other military veterans at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0have been accused of disloyalty to the U.S. because they fit the profile of a supporter of former President Donald Trump, according to two disclosures sent to lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Times obtained copies of the disclosures.<\/p>\n<div class=\"outbrain-unit-desktop\">\n<div class=\"ob-smartfeed-wrapper feedIdx-0\">\n<div id=\"outbrain_widget_0\" class=\"OUTBRAIN\" data-src=\"DROP_PERMALINK_HERE\" data-widget-id=\"AR_1\" data-ob-mark=\"true\" data-browser=\"chrome\" data-os=\"win32\" data-dynload=\"\" data-idx=\"0\">\n<div class=\"ob-widget ob-feed-layout AR_1\">\n<div class=\"ob-cards\">\n<div id=\"outbrain_widget_1001\" class=\"OUTBRAIN\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2023\/nov\/10\/whistleblowers-fbi-officials-singled-out-agents-wh\/\" data-widget-id=\"FMS_CP_1\" data-card-idx=\"1\" data-feed-father-idx=\"0\" data-ob-mark=\"true\" data-browser=\"chrome\" data-os=\"win32\" data-dynload=\"\" data-idx=\"1001\">\n<div class=\"ob-widget ob-grid-layout FMS_CP_1 ob-feed-idx-0-11741-81570\" data-dynamic-truncate=\"true\">\n<div class=\"ob-widget-items-container\">\n<div class=\"ob-dynamic-rec-container ob-recIdx-0 ob-p\" data-pos=\"0\">\n<div class=\"ob-image-ratio\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"ob-clip-end\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ob-dynamic-rec-container ob-recIdx-1 ob-p\" data-pos=\"1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ob-widget-footer\">\n<div class=\"ob-pixels\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The whistleblowers said Jeffrey Veltri, deputy assistant director of the bureau\u2019s security division, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/dena-perkins\/\">Dena Perkins<\/a>, assistant section chief, specifically pursued employees who served in the Marine Corps or other military branches.<\/p>\n<p>They stripped the agents of security clearances, which sidelined them on the job and pushed them toward the exit, according to the disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower disclosures say Mr. Veltri and Ms. Perkins either declared or attempted to declare the Marine and other veterans as \u201cdisloyal to the United States of America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn these cases there was no indication that any of the individuals had any affiliation to a foreign power or held any belief against the United States,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>Other signs that an employee was a \u201cright-wing radical and disloyal to the United States,\u201d according to Ms. Perkins and Mr. Veltri, were failure to wear a face mask, refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccination and participating in religious activities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In another instance, Ms. Perkins attempted to revoke the security clearance of a bureau employee she knew was a Marine veteran, but information showed that the initial allegations against the employee were unfounded, the disclosure says.<\/p>\n<p>This did not stop Ms. Perkins from ordering her investigators to canvass at least 10 police departments where the employee lived for any allegations or violations of law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the process, Perkins was attempting to provide evidence so she could terminate this employee because he was \u2018Disloyal to the United States,\u2019\u201d the disclosure states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn employee advised that at least two of the publicly known\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0whistleblowers were former members of the military, specifically \u2026 Kyle Seraphin and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/garret-oboyle\/\">Garret<\/a>[t] O\u2019Boyle,\u201d according to one of the disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>Another\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0whistleblower disclosure sent to the Judiciary Committee included an accusation from a security division employee who said the security clearance investigation of Mr. Seraphin did not follow the policy guidelines of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0initially declined to comment. A day after this article was posted online, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0provided a statement rebuking The Times for reporting on the disclosures to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/congress\/\">Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is wholly irresponsible of The Washington Times, and this reporter, to include outrageous and demonstrably false allegations that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0singled out former military employees. It is offensive that The Washington Times chose to publish, on Veteran\u2019s Day, such baseless, unsubstantiated claims and include the names of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0employees, one of which is a veteran. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0has not and will not retaliate against individuals who make protected whistleblower disclosures. We do not target or take adverse action against employees for exercising their First Amendment rights or for their political views. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0is proud to have many veterans in our workforce and we thank all veterans for their service,\u201d the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Seraphin was subjected to a security clearance investigation, according to the disclosure, after his field office notified Ms. Perkins that a police officer out of his jurisdiction confronted him about practicing with his gun at a shooting range.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O\u2019Boyle lost his security clearance after he testified before the House Judiciary Committee panel investigating the weaponization of the federal government. His security clearance was suspended in September 2022 over allegations that he leaked information about a criminal investigation to Project Veritas that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0officials said \u201ccompromised the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O\u2019Boyle ended up homeless after he lost his security clearance and was suspended without pay, according to the disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>Officials in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u2018s security division, or SecD in bureau lingo, suspended Mr. O\u2019Boyle\u2019s security clearance after his transfer to another field office. He and his family became financially stranded and homeless in their new city, it said.<\/p>\n<p>The disclosure said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0supervisor Sean Clark and Ms. Perkins were behind the scheme to punish Mr. O\u2019Boyle. They allegedly transferred him across the country with the intent to suspend and financially devastate him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClark bragged to at least one other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0employee in SecD that he was going to really \u2018screw\u2019 O\u2019Boyle,\u201d the disclosure said.<\/p>\n<p>In a response to the new whistleblower disclosures, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican, told The Washington Times, \u201cWhistleblowers play an essential part in identifying and rooting out waste, fraud, abuse, mismanagement, and corruption within government agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll Americans owe them a debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifices. Our committee strongly supports their efforts to shine a light on abuses of power, and we will not tolerate retaliatory conduct against any whistleblower,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will continue investigating any adverse action taken against whistleblowers and their claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with The Times, Mr. O\u2019Boyle said he never met or knew Mr. Clark or Ms. Perkins. He said he learned about them only when The Times shared the information from the whistleblower disclosure with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even know these people, but they came after me anyway because that\u2019s what tyrants do. They come after the people who they\u2019re afraid of,\u201d Mr. O\u2019Boyle said. \u201cThey come after the people who speak the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has sued the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>. His security clearance has been suspended for 14 months, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0forbids him to accept donations or find another job while suspended without pay, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy attorneys have advised me that if I quit, then the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0will simply file a motion to dismiss the suit [and] my lawsuit would have no standing,\u201d Mr. O\u2019Boyle said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Clark and Ms. Perkins likely knew Mr. O\u2019Boyle did not pass the information to Project Veritas or other news media, according to the disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time, the Security Division suspended\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0employee Garret O\u2019Boyle, the supervisor in charge of O\u2019Boyle\u2019s Case, Sean Clark, had already determined that O\u2019Boyle did not provide any information to either Project Veritas or the press,\u201d the disclosure said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecD was operating under the theory that O\u2019Boyle had provided the information to another\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0employee who then passed it on to an entity outside the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>,\u201d it said. \u201cHowever, SecD did not conclusively know how the information was passed to Project Veritas or the press.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Clark and Ms. Perkins allowed Mr. O\u2019Boyle, who was unaware he was under an internal investigation, to sell his home and move to the other office. Upon entering the doors of his new office, he was suspended immediately, the disclosure said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO\u2019Boyle and his family were left homeless. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0had possession of all of Mr. O\u2019Boyle\u2019s and his family\u2019s personal effects, including clothes and furniture,\u201d the disclosure said. \u201cNo one in SecD took any steps to assist O\u2019Boyle from the desperate predicament that SecD created. SecD caused O\u2019Boyle, who was still an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0employee, to be left destitute in a city [where] he had no family or support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O\u2019Boyle told lawmakers in his public testimony in May that he never had an opportunity to defend himself and had only one interview with the bureau \u2014 one year earlier after apparent prompting from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/congress\/\">Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been more than a year since the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/federal-bureau-of-investigation\/\">FBI<\/a>\u00a0took my paycheck from me, and we\u2019re getting financially crushed.
