Gunman suspected of killing Texas SWAT cop and 2 hostages was reportedly on FBI terror watchlist.<\/a><\/p>\n

The gunman who\u00a0killed Texas SWAT Officer Jorge Pastore\u00a0<\/a>in a shootout that also left two hostages dead was wearing body armor and night vision goggles \u2014 and was on the FBI\u2019s terror watchlist, according to reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A search warrant for the suspect\u2019s south Austin home \u2014 the scene of Saturday\u2019s deadly shootout \u2014 unearthed bomb-making materials inside, calling for help from the FBI\u2019s Evidence Recovery Team,\u00a0according to KXAN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cCutting instruments, body armor and any tactical gear to include firearms were all said to be worn or used by the suspect,\u201d reads the warrant, which noted that it\u2019s \u201cnot uncommon for people with a gun, body armor or night vision to make homemade explosives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neither the suspect nor the dead hostages had been officially identified as of early Wednesday.<\/p>\n

However, a local organization called the Round Rock Area Muslims said they were all family members of a \u201cbeloved brother\u201d who was well-known in the local community.<\/p>\n

They were mom Eman Ahmed El Nemr-Nassar and two of her sons, Ahmed Mohammed Nassar, 35, and Riad Mohamed Nassar, 32, according to a group member\u2019s since-deleted post\u00a0shared by the Daily Mail.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was not known which of the two brothers was the shooter \u2014 but the FBI had investigated members of the family and had the suspect on the terror watchlist, law enforcement sources told the Mail.<\/p>\n

Following the shooting on Saturday, FBI agents went door to door asking for more information about the family \u2014 who mostly kept to themselves, according to neighbors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were not rude, they just didn\u2019t respond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another neighbor, Mauricio Bejanaro, said the two adult sons \u201cwere very quiet,\u201d and he only ever got to speak to their father, whom he said moved out a few months ago.<\/p>\n

Pastore was fatally shot as part of a SWAT response when responding officers earlier backed out of the house because of gunfire.<\/p>\n

The hero officer \u2014 who previously responded to the 2018 Parkland High School shooting while an EMT in Florida \u2014 was the first Austin police officer killed in the line of duty in 10 years.<\/p>\n

The city is set to honor him with a procession through the streets of Austin prior to his funeral on Friday.<\/p>\n

Neighbors said the FBI has gone door-to-door asking them questions about the family, who were \u201cvery quiet.\u201d<\/figcaption>

Pastore joined the Austin Police Department in 2019 as a cadet, and graduated from the police academy in January 2020.<\/p>\n
