So far, violent crime is up almost 40 percent in 2023 over 2022, according to D.C.\u2019s preliminary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mpdc.dc.gov\/page\/district-crime-data-glance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>. Homicide and robbery are up 32 and 68 percent, respectively, while motor vehicle theft is up nearly 100 percent over last year. On Monday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5dc.com\/news\/mayor-muriel-bowser-dc-public-emergency-juvenile-crime-crisis-opioid-epidemic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a>\u00a0a state of emergency over the juvenile crime crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Yet stringent gun laws are especially common in high-crime areas, making it even more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/06\/californians-had-better-arm-themselves-if-they-dont-want-to-be-victims-of-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">difficult<\/a>\u00a0for citizens to protect themselves. And in the face of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/democrats-gun-control-hypocrisy-liberal-violent-criminals-sexton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rampant<\/a>\u00a0crime, many law-abiding citizens are left defenseless at the direction of lawmakers and an executive branch that enjoys the protection of armed security details. The Council on Criminal Justice\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/counciloncj.org\/mid-year-2023-crime-trends\/#:~:text=Violent%20crimes%20remain%20elevated%20compared,trends%20have%20been%20more%20mixed.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that across 37 U.S. cities, violent crime is up since 2019, with \u201c24% more homicides during the first half of 2023\u201d compared to the first half of 2019, and \u201cmotor vehicle thefts more than doubled (+104%).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Biden isn\u2019t the only one getting special treatment when it comes to firearms, however. Her dad, Hunter Biden allegedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/26\/read-the-gun-background-check-form-where-hunter-biden-claimed-he-wasnt-using-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lied<\/a>\u00a0about his drug use on a federal form to purchase a revolver in 2018 \u2014 a bombshell the public didn\u2019t learn about until a few months after his father was safely installed in the White House in 2021. Later, Joe Biden\u2019s DOJ struck a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/27\/how-a-federal-judge-turned-the-tables-on-hunter-bidens-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sweetheart plea deal<\/a> with Hunter, which posited that if the Biden son pled guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges, he would get broad immunity for other crimes, including no prosecution for his illegal possession of a firearm. Luckily, that deal fell apart thanks to an astute federal judge.<\/p>\n<p>Then last month, Hunter Biden pled not guilty to three federal firearms charges. And while his lawyers claim the underlying law is unconstitutional, even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/03\/hunter-biden-pleads-not-guilty-guns-00119762\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Politico<\/a>\u00a0recognizes that argument \u201cstands in stark contrast to President Joe Biden\u2019s advocacy for stricter gun laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The double standard is clear: gun rights for the Biden family and their elite friends,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/21\/bidens-latest-anti-gun-claims-arent-just-false-they-dont-even-make-sense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not for everyone else<\/a>. Along with the Bidens, other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20220404\/the-hypocrisy-of-gun-control-elitists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democrat<\/a>\u00a0politicians are some of the worst offenders. For instance, the notoriously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/07\/16\/mayor-lori-lightfoot-chicago-needs-more-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anti-gun<\/a>\u00a0former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot had her own armed security detail to protect her home and office. Former New York City Mayor and Democrat presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20200309\/bloomberg-s-anti-gun-hypocrisy-and-ignorance-abounded-as-his-campaign-floundered\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a> gun control while being protected by armed guards. Both lived comfortably under the protection of firearms while the citizens of their crime-ridden cities were left facing unmanageable gun regulations \u2014 and these politicos are just the tip of the iceberg.<\/p>\n<p>This blatant hierarchy reveals the truth that Biden and other Democrats refuse to acknowledge: Guns can preserve life.
