So once it became clear that covid was not in fact a pagan god visiting vengeance on the unwashed Trump voters alone, the media and Democrats are now willing to admit the following:

1. Cloth masks are ineffective against omicron (Leanna Wen, CNN);
2. The vaccinated can spread and get covid;
3. The death rate is comparable to the flu (Chris Hayes);
4. Many people are entering hospitals with covid, not from covid (Fauci);
5. Natural immunity is a reason omicron hasn’t been as virulent (Fauci);
6. We have to take into account societal needs, not just spread prevention (CDC);
7. The asymptomatic should not be tested (NFL);
8. We should focus on hospitalizations and deaths, not case rate (Biden);
9. Children are not at risk and schools should remain open;
10. Covid is predominantly an illness affecting the immunocompromised and elderly and we should not shut down society.

Those of us in reality have been saying all this for months and most of it since May 2020. But your political priors were more important than the data. You had to have your demonization narrative.
So welcome to reality. And f*** all y’all for pretending you didn’t know this so you could have fun crapping on Trump and DeSantis and all your red state relatives.
And btw, AOC and all you Leftist covid fanatics — those whose virtue signaling authoritarian lockdown nonsense that has resulted in millions of lives destroyed — stay in your states and leave mine alone.
We chose data and freedom. You chose alarmism and unearned moral superiority. Stay in NY, NJ, CA, and the rest — and enjoy the actual paranoid nanny state you created among your friends who reward you for telling them they will kill their kids and grandma if they don’t panic.
Oh yes, and Happy New Year to all.

Hypocrisy O’ The Day

If you hadn’t figured out Schiff has never been anything more than a bald-faced liar by now…….

Adam Schiff Uses Text Messages That Disprove Insurrection to Try to Shore Up Sagging Insurrection Narrative.

Liz Cheney on Monday revealed text messages from former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows’ phone. Despite the fact that they prove that there never was an insurrection, the Democrats and their media sycophants were working hard Tuesday to make the texts out to be the bombshell that will finally, once and for all, destroy Donald Trump. Foremost among them was, not surprisingly, Adam Schiff (D-OrangeManBad), whose only claim to fame as a congressman has been his relentless and evidence-free efforts to drive Trump first from the presidency, and now from public life altogether.

Schiff appeared Tuesday on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports trying to shore up the Democrats’ sagging Jan. 6 insurrection narrative. No one has been charged with insurrection, no one was armed, the only person killed on the scene was a Trump supporter, and Trump himself called for a peaceful protest, but the facts have never mattered to a Left driven mad with hatred for the man whose continued popularity threatens their hold not just on the three branches of government, but on the popular culture as well.

According to Breitbart, Mitchell asked Schiff: “What is the impact do you think of Don Jr.? Publicly, he was saying one thing and denying the severity of the insurrection while privately, he was pleading with Mark Meadows. Does it, first of all, suggest that they all were aware that Donald Trump, alone, could have stopped the violence by asking him to do something about it?”

Mitchell was referring to texts from Donald Trump Jr. to Meadows in which the president’s son said: “He’s got to condemn this s**t ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough….We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand.”

To Schiff, this is the veritable smoking gun that will enable him at last to drive his harpoon into his white whale, Trump. “It says so much,” Schiff answered Mitchell excitedly. “The few text messages say so much. They tell us that these people understood the seriousness of this attack. They understood that the president was uniquely situated to try to stop it, and he wasn’t stopping it. It was going on for hours. But it also just calls out the blatant hypocrisy where they are now trying to downplay these events, but when you look at what they were saying in real-time, you see just how serious they understood this attack to be.”

Schiff added: “So the hypocrisy of it in particular just smacks you in the face to see what Don Jr. was saying now and to see what Don Jr. was saying then.”

Anyone who actually reads what Donald Trump Jr. wrote, however, will not see any of what Schiff claims to see in his texts. Donald Trump Jr. said that the president should speak out against people entering the Capitol and call on them to disperse, and Trump did so. But the fact that Trump Jr. wrote that “it has gone too far and gotten out of hand” makes it clear that there was no planned insurrection, no attempted coup, contrary to the Left’s incessant and hysterical propaganda for nearly a year now. This was a peaceful protest that did indeed get out of hand, and Trump duly spoke out.

That should have been the end of the matter, but Schiff and his colleagues instead opted to do everything they can to portray the events of Jan. 6 as far more serious than they actually were in a transparent attempt to destroy Trump’s political career altogether and stigmatize those who voted for him and still support him.

It is no surprise that Adam Schiff would be the one who is spearheading this initiative. This is, after all, the man who was still insisting as late as April 2019 that there was “ample evidence of collusion” between Trump and Russia “in plain sight,” and that “the obstruction of justice in particular in this case is far worse than anything that Richard Nixon did. I would say in every way this is more significant than Watergate.”

Yet despite the fact that Schiff and the Democratic Congressional leadership had their knives out for Trump from the moment he declared his candidacy, no such evidence of collusion or obstruction of justice has ever come to light. Nevertheless, Schiff has neither produced his “evidence of collusion” nor apologized for claiming to have it when he obviously did not.

The hypocrisy of Adam Schiff in particular just smacks you in the face.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm hops into gas-guzzler in Boston

(Staff Photo By Matt Stone/MediaNews Group/Boston Herald)

Feds fume over Herald’s Jennifer Granholm SUV gas story.

The Herald’s story about U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm riding around Boston in a gas-guzzling SUV has the federal department fuming.
Granholm made the front page in Saturday’s paper when she followed up her comments here about the need for more investment in efficient, sustainable infrastructure through President Biden’s “Build Back Better” bill by hopping right into a Chevy Suburban Premier, which doesn’t rank particularly well in terms of environmental friendliness.
But the feds felt like the Herald’s focus on the “gas-guzzler” SUV was just pumping up a non-issue.
“Would the Herald run this kind of a story if it was a minivan? Shame to see journalism like this at a time when there a real dollars coming to Massachusetts that will lower costs and create jobs for families and workers,” a Department of Energy spokeswoman said in a statement emailed over on Saturday.
The department’s media office didn’t respond to a request Friday about how she squares her ride with her comments about the need for better sustainability and efficiency. But when the rubber hit the road and they read the story, the spokeswoman decided to send that missive over, per the email.
Granholm, who currently would be 15th in the line of succession for the presidency if her Canadian birth didn't make her ineligible for it, is a former two-term governor of Michigan. She — like U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, the former Boston mayor — has been dispatched to pitch the "Build Back Better" bill around the country on behalf of the administration.
“We need to act quickly both on environmental justice but also on saving the planet,” Granholm told reporters inside the in-progress shell of the striking new Arts Academy overlooking Fenway Park on Friday. “So much of your greenhouse gas emissions involves buildings and vehicles. And so those two pieces are embedded in the Build Back Better agenda.”
A few minutes later, she and several members of her entourage were piling into the large white Chevrolet Suburban Premier they’d rolled up in.
The webpage maintained by Granholm’s own Department of Energy that is the government “official source” for fuel economy lookups pegs the 2021 Suburban at somewhere between 16 and 23 miles per gallon overall, depending on whether it’s using diesel, premium gas or regular gas. For city driving — as the slow going in the area right around Fenway is — the SUV can get as few as 14 miles per gallon.
A couple of quick Google searches show the Suburban — whose webpage on the Chevy website reads “Welcome to the big life” — showing up on multiple top-10 “gas-guzzlers” lists. The federal fuel lookup page lists multiple hybrid and electric SUVs with overall mile-per-gallon marks of 35 to 95.
The Premier version is the middle of the three Suburban makes in terms of price and luxury. Next year’s Premier starts at $66,300.
To answer Granholm’s flak’s question about minivans — the least-fuel efficient one of those still gets overall 20 miles to the gallon, rating better than her sizable ride in both gas consumed and emissions, per her federal website.

I’ll say it again, when the people who are telling us this is a real crisis start living their lives like it’s a real crisis, I’ll think about considering that it actually may be a real crisis.

Even More Key Democrats Are Getting Caught Up Engaging in Mask Hypocrisy

Last weekend, President Joe Biden was caught with his mask completely slipped down while in Nantucket. And he’s not the only major Democratic figure recently caught engaging in mask hypocrisy.

There’s Mayor London Breed of San Francisco, who late last month was yet again spotted partying at a club, singing and dancing without a mask on. Per a Bay Area regional mandate, everyone must wear a mask inside businesses, including clubs, unless they are actively eating or drinking.

According to a report from Aidin Vaziri of the San Francisco Chronicle, which includes statements from Breed:

Breed told reporters on Tuesday that she was in a private part of the club, drinking and hanging out with friends — and not violating COVID rules.

“I’m at my table and drinking drinks, and I’m enjoying myself in a venue. I’m not violating a health order,” she said. She said she had a mask upon entering and leaving the establishment and when using the restroom.

“I was in a private area with my drinks with the people I was with, enjoying myself at a venue and I had a great time and I followed the appropriate protocols. And yes, I was dancing and yes, I was drinking and having fun. And at the end of the day, I am doing everything I can to follow the existing protocols. And I think sadly, sometimes these videos are taking out of perspective,” she said.

The new 10-second video, which appeared Saturday on Instagram Stories— photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours — shows Breed on a crowded dance floor surrounded by other people watching and singing along to a live act. No table or drinks appear near where the mayor is dancing….

However, while Breed noted that she was in a private section, that area does not appear to be in an enclosed space in the video.

The mayor was similarly caught without a mask in September, while singing along with a rare live performance from Tony! Toni! Toné!. “I was feeling the spirit and I wasn’t thinking about a mask,” Breed said in response to that video. “We don’t need the fun police to come in and micromanage and tell us what we should or shouldn’t be doing,” she had also said.

Then there’s House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). As seen in photos obtained by Breitbart, Pelosi appeared to be one of the few at the the California State Society on Tuesday night at the Museum of American History not wearing a mask. This includes a child seen standing close to Pelosi.

Hypocrisy O’ The Day

Were you surprised the even those on the highest court are often hypocrites? Well, no matter what is said, they’re politicians……

BLUF:
That is the problem with both politics and mendacity: They are a stench that one tends to smell only in others — and that tend to be more pungent when one is in dissent.

There is no problem with changing one’s rationale for reproductive rights, or even changing one’s views on constitutional interpretations; that is part of honest intellectual development. However, the mere fact that a case is constitutional precedent — or even “super precedent,” according to some — is no substitute for constitutional principle.

Breyer and Sotomayor are known for their often profound, detailed opinions. I expect both will ably defend reproductive rights in Dobbs, even if they do not defend the actual analysis in Roe. But Roe should stand or fall on constitutional merits — not on feigned outrage over changing constitutional precedent.

What’s that you smell in the Supreme Court?

In Wednesday’s Supreme Court oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Justice Sonia Sotomayor got a whiff of something she did not like. She said many abortion opponents, including the sponsors of the Mississippi abortion law at issue, hoped her three new colleagues would allow for the reversal or reduction of Roe v. Wade. With Justices Brett KavanaughNeil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett listening, she asked, “Will this institution survive the stench” created from such political machinations — and then answered: “I don’t see how it is possible.”

Of course, when justices begin to declare their disgust at the very thought of overturning precedent, there is another detectable scent in the courtroom. Indeed, it felt like a scene from Tennessee Williams’s play, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” The only thing missing was the play’s central character, “Big Daddy” Pollitt, asking: “What’s that smell in this room? … Didn’t you notice a powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity in this room? There ain’t nothin’ more powerful than the odor of mendacity.”

Justices Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer insisted that overturning Roe in whole or in part would bring ruin upon the court by abandoning the principle of stare decisis, or the respect for precedent. Yet neither showed the same unflagging adherence to precedent when they sought to overturn conservative doctrines. Notably, Sotomayor pointed out another allegedly “political” decision in the court’s recognition of an individual right to bear arms; she and Breyer both indicated a willingness to overturn the ruling in that case, District of Columbia v. Heller. After that decision, both continued to dissent and argue that “the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self-defense.” Indeed, they may reaffirm that position this term.

Sotomayor’s nose for judicial politics was also less sensitive when she recently called upon students to campaign against abortion laws — a major departure from the court’s apolitical traditions. After telling the students that “You know, I can’t change Texas’s law, but you can and everyone else who may or may not like it can go out there and be lobbying forces in changing laws that you don’t like.”

She added: “I am pointing out to that when I shouldn’t because they tell me I shouldn’t.” That was more than a whiff of politics, but the same legal commentators applauding her “stench” comment were silent in condemning her direct call for political action on abortion.

Hypocrisy: Kamala Harris Slammed Trump for Refilling Oil Reserves that Joe Biden Just Drained

Vice President Kamala Harris’s hypocrisy was on display Tuesday as President Joe Biden raided oil reserves despite her having slammed then-President Donald Trump in 2020 for refilling them.

“Absolutely unacceptable that Trump is prioritizing bailing out Big Oil companies while dragging his feet to support millions of unemployed people, workers, small businesses, and state and local governments,” Harris tweeted in 2020 during the pandemic.

Trump refilled the oil reserves during the pandemic when prices were three times less than Tuesday’s prices of $3.403, according to the AAA. The low prices were threatening American producers’ ability to compete with the deep pockets of OPEC, which have no interest in competing with American oil producers.

Granholm’s Green Energy Millions

Biden energy secretary nets $1.6 million after offloading admin-backed electric bus company

Energy secretary Jennifer Granholm has finally sold hundreds of thousands of shares in a green energy company that has received the backing of the Biden administration.

On Wednesday, Granholm confirmed she earned a $1.6 million profit on her shares of Proterra amid a firestorm over her financial ties to an electric vehicle company repeatedly promoted by the Biden administration. In selling off her shares, Granholm was able to defer paying capital gains taxes on the $1.6 million sale because cabinet officials are not penalized with the tax on assets they are required to sell as a condition of joining the administration. The Biden administration is seeking to raise the capital gains tax on America’s wealthiest families.

On May 11, Granholm filed an Office of Government Ethics divestiture certificate. She confirmed the sale Wednesday. The former Michigan governor reported selling more than 240,000 shares in the electric bus manufacturer to an unnamed buyer. She valued the stake at up to $5 million in a January financial disclosure.

The Department of Energy did not return to requests for comment.

While Proterra is slated to go public within the next few weeks, Granholm’s sale of the shares of the yet-to-be publicly traded company likely occurred in an off-market private sale. The Washington Free Beacon reported that major Democratic donors are invested in the company taking Proterra public, including at least one member of the megadonor Pritzker family who stands to own up to 7 percent of the company when it finally becomes public.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment.

Granholm’s divestment comes weeks after President Joe Biden toured Proterra, prompting ethics concerns from federal lawmakers. Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) compared the Biden administration’s ongoing promotion of the company to the Obama administration’s pouring millions of taxpayer dollars into Solyndra, a failed solar panel company. Sen. John Barrasso (R., Wyo.) wrote to the Department of Energy’s inspector general demanding a review of Granholm’s stake in the company.

“Energy Secretary Granholm held millions of dollars of investments in an electric bus company. During her nomination hearing, she committed to the Senate that she would avoid the appearance of any conflicts of interest,” Barrasso told the Free Beacon. “Even though Secretary Granholm has now sold these stocks, her actions appear to be a significant conflict of interest.”

Rep. Ralph Norman (R., S.C.) wrote directly to Granholm requesting key documents about any Department of Energy promotion of Proterra. Rep. Jim Banks (R., Ind.) called for Granholm to offload her Proterra shares on May 5.

Granholm played a leading role in shaping the administration’s infrastructure package. Biden tasked her specifically with “identifying risks in the supply chain for high-capacity batteries, including electric-vehicle batteries, and policy recommendations to address these risks.” The legislation includes a $174 billion investment in the electric vehicle market and creates a Clean Buses for Kids program in order to “electrify” at least 20 percent of the nation’s school buses. Proterra opened a battery manufacturing plant in California just weeks after Biden’s election.

In addition to Biden’s virtual tour of Proterra’s South Carolina factory, the president in May hosted company CEO Jack Allen at the White House’s Leaders Summit on Climate. National climate adviser Gina McCarthy praised Proterra for its “amazing” work at the summit and asked Allen “what role” the federal government can play in “spurring the demand for zero emission electric vehicles, including school buses.”

Granholm and Allen spoke at the conference, with Allen thanking Biden for his “longstanding support of electric transit buses and zero emission transportation.” While Granholm has denied any involvement of planning Proterra-related events, the White House has yet to say who was involved in planning them.

Hypocrisy O’ The Day

Hypocrisy, thy name be Fauci

Oh my: Fauci caught unmasking at indoor D.C. event this week?

We’ve all been waiting for a sign from the experts that the pandemic is really, truly over and it’s time to get back to normal.

I think we’ve found it.

This isn’t just a case of Fauci declining to follow his own public guidance. If true, he was breaking the law. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser lifted the city’s indoor mask mandate a few days ago but that policy won’t take effect until this coming Monday.

Incidents like Gavin Newsom’s French Laundry dinner and the double standard in masking at the Met Gala have led many Americans to believe that the elite view COVID rules as something for the great unwashed to follow, not for them personally. This Politico report about Fauci won’t change any minds:

Mask on, mask off. That [was] the name of the game for ANTHONY FAUCI at JONATHAN KARL’s book party Tuesday night at Café Milano. As gawkers tried to snap pictures of him indoors not wearing a mask, America’s doc would put it on and take it off depending on whom he was around. SALLY QUINN — who’s known Fauci since his days as a young NIH doctor, when he inspired a love interest in one of her erotic novels — asked him why he was at a party with a mask in hand, not on face. “I said, ‘You seem pretty ambivalent about your mask’ because no one else was wearing one,” Quinn told Playbook. “He said, ‘I just decided that if anyone came up that I didn’t know, I would put my mask on.’”

Quinn added that “paparazzi” were surrounding Fauci trying to get that “gotcha moment” of the Covid czar without a mask on. Guests had to show proof of vaccination to enter the party. “He was being safe,” Quinn said in his defense. “He knew everyone was vaccinated. If it was someone we knew, he would trust them, and if it was somebody else, he didn’t.” Another guest observed Fauci’s mask on/mask off dance, but said that the mask was firmly on when he came to the rescue of a guest who had collapsed. We reached out to Fauci via NIH but didn’t hear back Thursday night.

“I don’t need to take precautions because I’m acquainted with this person” is so stupid that I’m struggling to believe Fauci would say it, even though Quinn has no reason to lie. If he wanted to concoct an excuse for eschewing a mask, he could have said that he was recently boosted and therefore at little risk at the moment of being infected or of infecting others. That wouldn’t get him off the hook for breaking D.C.’s rules but it would have the virtue of being true. The idea that you don’t need to worry about being infected when you’re around someone from a different household because you know them personally is completely fatuous. The likely truth: Fauci unmasked around people whom he knew because he assumed they wouldn’t rat him out to the press. He masked up when speaking to people whom he wasn’t sure about.

Evidently he misjudged Quinn.

Biden Shocked by Price of Gas During Biden Administration: “Did You Ever Think You’d Be Paying This Much?”

Psaki on skyrocketing gas prices: “Our view is that the rise in gas prices over the long term makes an even stronger case for doubling down our investment and our focus on clean energy options.”

The goobermint you see is a bunch of clueless morons.
It’s the goobermint you don’t see that’s the problem.

Just to point out again:
I’ll believe global warming is a crisis, when the people who tell me it’s a crisis start to act like it’s a crisis themselves.

Hypocrite airways? Jeff Bezos’s £48m Gulf Stream leads parade of 400 private jets into COP26 including Prince Albert of Monaco, scores of royals and dozens of ‘green’ CEOs – as huge traffic jam forces empty planes to fly 30 miles to park

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos‘ £48million Gulf Stream has led a 400-strong parade of private jets into COP25 including Prince Albert of Monaco, scores of royals and dozens of ‘green’ CEOs – as an extraordinary traffic jam forced empty planes to fly 30 miles to find space to park.

Some environmental activists at the COP26 climate conference will be urging others to cut down on air travel and eat less meat, but little has been said about the billionaires flying in on their own planes on routes already served by commercial airlines.

Meanwhile, as the super-rich were whisked away into waiting limos, hundreds of less fortunate delegates were left unable to get to Glasgow after brutal storms crippled rail links, forcing travellers to sleep on the floor of Euston station in London.

On Sunday, MailOnline observed at least 52 private jets landing at Glasgow – while estimates put the total number flying in for the conference at 400. Conservative predictions suggest the fleet of private jets arriving for COP26 will blast out 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in total – equivalent to the amount consumed by more than 1,600 Britons in a year.
