Man killed after shooting, injuring paramedics in Pine Bluff Arkansas

A 22-year-old man was fatally shot early Thursday after reportedly shooting two paramedics who were giving aid to his injured girlfriend, police said.

Officers responded to a call regarding two paramedics who had been shot at 1409 W. 23rd Ave. just before 4:40 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release issued by Pine Bluff police.

Paramedic Joshua Godfrey, 35, was sitting in the back of an ambulance bleeding and John Spriggs Sr., 21, was lying on the ground beside the ambulance when police arrived, the release states.

The paramedics told officers they were rendering aid in the back of the ambulance to a 20-year-old woman complaining of knee pain, when her boyfriend, Kevin Curl Jr., walked up to them “aggressively,” police said.

Spriggs told police Curl refused to back up, and pushed him and asked what he was going to do about it, police said. Spriggs punched Curl, who then pulled out a gun and shot both paramedics approximately three times each in the chest, pelvic and abdomen areas, according to the news release.

Spriggs returned fire, striking Curl, police said. When officers arrived they found Curl dead on the kitchen floor of a residence at the address with at least one gunshot wound in his chest, police said.

Both paramedics and the woman were transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

Woman shoots suspect who fatally shot man inside apartment

One man is dead and another is injured following a shooting inside an apartment in northwest Atlanta late Monday night.

Police say the two men were involved in a fight when one of the men fatally shot the other. A woman also inside the apartment then fired her own weapon multiple times at the shooter. That man was taken to an area hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He’s currently in stable condition.

Police say the woman is not expected to face charges as the shooting is believed to be in self-defense. The victims have not been identified and are only described as men in their late 20’s to early 30’s.

No additional information was released.

Mozambicans flee jihadist attacks

TWENTY per cent of the population of Cabo Delgado, in the northernmost part of Mozambique, have fled for their lives in the face of an Islamist insurgency that has killed more than 2200 people this year.

The attacks by jihadist groups linked to Islamic State have intensified since they began three years ago. Predominantly agricultural, Cabo Delgado also has newly discovered large oil and gas fields, which continue to operate despite the attacks. The area still has huge untapped oil and gas reserves, estimated to be worth $60 billion. Continue reading “”

Trump signs Space Policy Directive-6 on space nuclear power and propulsion

One goal laid out in SPD-6 is the testing of a fission power system on the moon by the mid- to late 2020s.

Nuclear power will be a big part of the United States’ space exploration efforts going forward, a new policy document affirms.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday (Dec. 16) issued Space Policy Directive-6 (SPD-6), which lays out a national strategy for the responsible and effective use of space nuclear power and propulsion (SNPP) systems.

“Space nuclear power and propulsion is a fundamentally enabling technology for American deep-space missions to Mars and beyond,” Scott Pace, deputy assistant to the president and executive secretary of the National Space Council, said in an emailed statement Wednesday. “The United States intends to remain the leader among spacefaring nations, applying nuclear power technology safely, securely and sustainably in space.” Continue reading “”

The COVID Vaccine Messaging Is Just Getting More Confusing

Is it just me, or is the messaging on the COVID vaccines more than a little off? Here’s NBC medical analyst Dr. Vin Gupta either contradicting himself, moving the goalposts again, or just saying the vaccine can’t be trusted yet but he’s getting it anyway to virtue-signal to us unwashed commoners.

You can take the vaccine but still get infected? I don’t get it. Whatever it is, it’s bad messaging that will confuse the folks. Continue reading “”

Here’s my opinion.
This kind of mRNA(modified RNA) ‘vaccine’ has never been approved by the bureaucraps at the FDA for human use before. The tests for safety, effectiveness, side effects, especially long term side effect, haven’t been done simply because of the speed with which the vaccines have been produced and introduced for use on the populace.
And there have been multiple reports, world wide, of some serious adverse reactions to the vaccine that make it even more necessary to have these studies done.

Also, you can’t sue Pfizer or Moderna if you have severe Covid vaccine side effects. The government likely won’t compensate you for damages either

Messing with how human genetics operate is something I have serious misgivings about. We can joke about end of the civilization movies, government experiments run amok with zombies and mutants but when you look at how injecting engineered RNA into cells to make the cells produce something they were never designed to produce, what can I say?

‘As for me and my house’, we’re going t0 forego taking this until a lot more data is available.

News Media Fears Ammon Bundy May be Right

They’ve got the White House come January 21st, 2021.  They may pick up the United States Senate after a special election in Georgia.  They still hold the U.S. House of Representatives.  Then why do liberals still appear to be living in fear when it comes to their perceptions of people in fly over country?

One latest example comes out of a Nampa based newspaper.  You can click on a link here.  Political activist Ammon Bundy is recommending people prepare for rough times ahead.  He’s called a conservative activist by the writers of the story.  I’m not sure all of these labels are accurate.  He was more than willing to meet members of Black Lives Matter.  He was vilified by many old allies on the right.  Yet, he explained he wanted to know why they were taking to the streets.  It’s a fair question.  People who believe they’re aggrieved could solve at least some issues by having a dialogue.  Or it’s at least worth a try. Six Best Revolvers for Home Defense

As more and more people buy handguns for self-defense, revolvers have experienced a surge in popularity. And that has led to a lot of talk about a “revolver resurgence,” which is kind of amusing to serious revolver fans for whom the wheelgun never went away. While a lot of the surge is due to folks purchasing small, super-light revolvers for concealed carry, sometimes overlooked is how good revolvers—particularly mid- to full-size ones—can be for home defense.

Sure, they may not hold as many rounds as a 9mm semiautomatic, but they’re simple to use. There are no safeties to worry about, no slides to struggle with, no difficult magazines to load, no complicated manual of arms. With a revolver you just load the cylinder, close it and pull the trigger. That’s pretty much it.

And if you’re new to guns and haven’t heard about the revolver’s reliability, well it’s legendary. Misfires are rare and almost always due to a faulty round of ammunition (which isn’t very common). If you do pull the trigger and nothing happens, simply pull the trigger again.

Let’s take a look at six top revolver candidates for home defense. Again, since we’re not worrying about size and weight for concealed carry, these are mid- to full-size guns, which are much easier to shoot. They are all either double-action-only (the trigger must be pulled through its entire length, rotating the cylinder to place a live round under the hammer/firing pin) or double-action/single-action (in addition to a double-action pull, the hammer can also be cocked to rotate the cylinder, resulting in a lighter trigger pull).

Trump Is Considering Giving an Order That Should Terrify Joe Biden

I could write this article in just two words: Do it.

A new report is out saying that President Trump is currently considering the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden. This comes after the revelation of at least four investigations involving the former VP’s son. Money laundering appears to be one of the chief concerns, though there are also other corruption issues at play. Joe Biden himself could also be fingered, given some of the past evidence we’ve seen that his knowledge of what went on is far deeper than he’s admitted (see: New Hunter Biden Email Further Implicates Joe Biden). The Republicans really didn’t want Trump in 2016. Jeb Bush was their boy.

The Democrats wanted Hillary to be Obama’s heir….

Only the people wanted Trump. So when it came re-election time, there were powerful forces, on both sides, against him. This is why Trump had massive crowds of supporters. but lukewarm support in Congress and also the GOP. The Democrats connived to get rid of him by any means necessary, the establishment GOP didn’t lift a finger to help Trump either

Biden, Harris Use Sandy Hook to Call for ‘Gun Reforms,’ Meaning Control

Using the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on Monday called for “gun reforms” to honor the victims of the 2012 shooting that left 20 youngsters and six adults dead.

It’s what Second Amendment activists call “camo speak” for more gun control. Anti-gun Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal chimed in, according to Fox News, declaring the Sandy Hook victims should be honored with “positive action” and he expects the incoming Biden administration will “redouble the efforts against gun violence.”

Biden’s legitimacy as the next president got a boost from Republican Senate Majority Mitch McConnell, who congratulated the former vice president by declaring the Electoral College “has spoken.” The Drudge Report blared this headline: “Season Finale: McConnell Finishes Trump.”

Biden and Harris insist they want “common sense” gun “reforms,” according to the Associated Press. It all translates to the same thing, according to grassroots gun rights activists: More restrictions on law-abiding citizens that will ultimately not prevent a single violent crime involving a firearm.

Sandy Hook was the work of a single mentally-deranged individual, Adam Lanza. Prior to the shooting, Lanza murdered his mother, took her guns from a safe and headed to the school in her car. While a Connecticut news organ, The Day, editorialized for additional gun controls, a reader who signed in as Keith J. Robbins reacted.

“The Day again gives lip service to the mental health issue, the actual reason for all the incidents mentioned was a failure by the liberal mental health system,” Robbins wrote. “Newtown happened because a parent enabled a child to commit murder, she paid the ultimate price for her failure. The child should have been institutionalized, as has been documented multiple times…The Day fails to address the continued carnage in Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and we are beginning to see it in New York, those communities have extensive gun laws and continue to be run by democrats. As we see emboldened criminals, because of a lax if non-existence criminal justice system, the Second Amendment becomes more prevalent for law abiding citizens.”

The Day wants to extend the background check period from three to ten days. It wants so-called “universal background checks” for all gun transfers, except between family members—a mandate that would not have prevented Sandy Hook, since Lanza killed his mother and used her guns—and a ban on so-called “assault rifles” and original capacity magazines.

The Day editorial claims these are “some sensible reforms that are popular with the American public, including many gun owners.”

The only thing that could derail Biden’s gun control schemes would be a Republican victory in the two Senate races slated Jan. 5 in Georgia. If incumbent Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler retain their seats, the GOP will remain in control of the Senate and provide a barrier.

Florida burglar climbing into home killed by falling window

A freak accident involving a falling window killed a Florida burglar, according to a report.

It happened Saturday during the attempted burglary of a home in Lehigh Acres, NBC 2 Fort Myers reported.

Jonathan Hernandez, 32.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the window killed Jonathan Hernandez when it slammed down on him as he was climbing through it.

The incident report says the window came down on the 32-year-old man’s neck, the station reported.

Deputies found him dead when they arrived on the scene.

Tyrone Lane told the station he and Hernandez were friends. He questioned the account of what happened.

“He is not a burglar,” he said “He’s not a thief. He’s not a bad guy. That’s not what he is.”

Man, 23, accidentally killed with shotgun after friends shoot each other with rubber bullets

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in central California after a bizarre shooting that began with three friends drinking and shooting each other with rubber bullets for fun, authorities said.

Fresno County Sheriff deputies were called Sunday night about a person being shot and seriously injured at a home in Tollhouse, Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said.

Deputies and emergency personnel performed CPR, but Bradly Smith, of Clovis, died a short time later, the Fresno Bee reported.

A friend identified as Elvis Hernandez, 30, of Reedley, fired a shotgun blast at him. Hernandez has been arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the incident, Botti said. Continue reading “”

Dr. Rand Paul Introduces HEMP Act to Relieve Unnecessary Constraints on Hemp Industry, Provide Transparency and Certainty

Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) continued his efforts to address Kentucky hemp farmers’ concerns with federal overreach and bring clarity, transparency, and certainty to regulation by introducing the Hemp Economic Mobilization Plan (HEMP) Act of 2020.

In response to concerns raised by Kentucky hemp farmers and processors, Dr. Paul’s HEMP Act would change the legal definition of hemp to raise the THC limit from 0.3% to 1%. Currently, any hemp crops testing above 0.3% have to be destroyed.

The legislation would require testing of the final hemp-derived product instead of the hemp flower or plant itself, as the 15-day window for testing the hemp flower or plant does not take potential testing backlogs, lack of personnel to collect samples, harvesting time, or environmental factors that farmers cannot control into account. I don’t think the city council understands that if there is no Police ‘interaction’ , the citizenry will handle whatever problems arise, and it won’t be pretty. Then again, maybe they do……………

NYC Seeks To Bar Police From Any Interaction With Homeless.

Having already slashed the budget for the NYPD, the City Council in the Big Apple is looking to enact even more restrictions on the actions of the police department. Multiple members of the Council have drafted a bill that would bar the police from any interaction with homeless individuals on the streets. That would include both responding to complaints about possible criminal behavior and outreach efforts where officers attempt to get the homeless into shelters. To say this is going too far is an understatement. Even the notoriously liberal Mayor is opposed to the measure. (NY Post)

The NYPD would be prohibited from conducting any outreach to New York’s homeless under a new bill before the City Council, handcuffing cops from protecting municipal workers on the frontlines of the crisis — a move opposed by police unions and Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“Experiencing homelessness on the street or on the subway is not a crime,” insisted Councilman Stephen Levin (D-Brooklyn) during a Monday hearing of the council’s general welfare committee. “I hope that this bill will ensure that there is less harm done by limiting the involvement of police in these interactions.”

Levin, who reps areas including Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg, is co-sponsoring the bill along with Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal, a Democrat representing Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The insinuation in this bill is obvious. The liberals on the Council who have been pushing to defund, if not entirely abolish the police are suggesting that the cops can’t be trusted to deal with the homeless or are somehow looking to abuse them. This flies in the face of the reality on the streets, where the city’s Department of Homeless Services has routinely partnered with the NYPD and relied on them to provide officers to accompany workers when engaging the homeless. This is done not only to ensure that help is provided to the homeless but to protect the workers in case any of the people they are trying to help become violent, as often happens when they are engaging with people having mental health issues.

Eating Our Own: The Fine (Not So) Young Cannibals of the Gun Industry

Whether through articles or posts on social media the gun industry has an unfortunate tendency to readily and joyously eat its own. Toss a proverbial hot topic into the ring and suddenly it’s lions versus Christians with the lone Christian being represented by some poor guy who was “just saying.”

It’s a topic worth addressing even though it will cause more even kvetching and whining in the comment section (commonly-shared saying among writers: never read the comment section). Addressing this topic at all is likely to be called “whining”, “playing the victim card”, or – my personal favorite – “virtue signaling.”

There’s also the opposite end of the spectrum. There we have those who loudly proclaim we as an industry are being divided by the use of “divisive” speech. This often involves the originator of the discussion having asked a question or somehow challenged the status quo. You don’t dare rock the boat, because that makes you “part of the problem.”

What follows are my two cents. They’re sentiments I like to believe are shared by most of us here at TTAG. If my bluntness about this state of affairs offends you, sorry, but I’m not sorry. Continue reading “”

Gun-control activists need to stop demonizing John Lott

The recent reaction of Griffin Dix to the appointment of John Lott as an adviser to the DOJ Office of Justice Program reflects the continued inability of the gun-control advocacy community to address the fundamental issues that prevent us from making an effective response to the problem of gun violence.

Lott’s book “More Guns, Less Crime” has become a flashpoint for arguments on both sides of the gun debate. On the one hand, the book is celebrated by the pro-gun lobby as a justification for ‘stand your ground’ laws and other legal rationales for armed self-defense. On the other hand, the book is condemned by gun-control activists as error-filled propaganda that promotes the false idea that guns are an effective response to fears about personal safety and threats of crime. As a long-time member of the Brady Campaign, Griffin Dix obviously belongs to the latter group. Continue reading “”

Why the Most Important Part of Being Armed is Being Armed

Some time back I saw a news report of three thugs who decided to pull a daytime burglary, not knowing the homeowner was present. Breaking in the front door, they barged into the living room only to be confronted by the homeowner armed with a rifle. It looked like some sort of comedy routine when all three crooks tried to go back out the front door at the same time.

Recently, in one of our larger Texas cities, a lady was walking out of a mall to her parked car. As she got near her car, a rough-looking guy stepped out and said, “Hey, sweetie!” The lady’s reply was to stick her hand in her purse and say, “I’ve got a gun.” The presumptive suitor turned and took off.

Then, there was a couple who watched a group of criminals break down their gate and trespass onto their property. The couple armed themselves and ordered the group to leave. Although threats were hurled at the couple, the group left.

The common factor in each of these incidents is that not a single shot was fired. When you study news reports and videos, as I do, it is interesting how many times the mere presence of a gun is all that it takes to discourage criminal activity. Crooks simply don’t like it when it looks like the odds are anywhere near even.

It has been said that the first rule of gunfighting is to have a gun.
