CDC: Vaccinated people spread COVID-19 Delta variant as easily as unvaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday released data showing that vaccinated people are at increased risk for COVID-19 infection with the Delta variant and that they can spread the disease nearly as easily as unvaccinated people.

Nearly 75% of COVID-19 cases connected with large gatherings on Cape Cod in Massachusetts occurred in people fully vaccinated against the virus, according to data published Friday by the CDC.

The new data comes after the agency issued guidance on Tuesday recommending that everyone, including those who are fully vaccinated, wear masks in indoor public settings in areas where COVID-19 transmission is high.

Oregon Judge Rejects Lawsuit Targeting ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ Rule

An Oregon county judge has dismissed a case that challenged two gun-rights measures that were passed by voters.

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners asked the court to review the Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance (SASO) and Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance (SAPO), which were adopted by the county’s commissioners. Then, Oregon attorney general and lawyers from Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun-control group, issued their own filings and argued the ordinances violated federal and state laws.

But Columbia County Judge Ted Grove ruled (pdf) this week that “while a governing body may seek review of an ordinance … judicial examination still requires a justiciable controversy.”

“Petitioners have not demonstrated such a controversy,” the judge added and said they “seek what amounts to an advisory opinion designed to invalidate their own newly passed ordinance.”

The judge’s decision didn’t address the legality of the measures, which bars Columbia County—located in the northwestern part of Oregon—from enforcing many state and federal gun-control laws.

According to the text (pdf) of the ordinance, it “preserves the right of any person to keep and bear arms as originally understood; in self-defense and preservation, and in defense of one’s community and country, and to freely manufacture, transfer, sell and buy firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition … and protects ancillary rights that are closely related to the right to keep and bear arms protected by the Second Amendment.”

Pro-Second Amendment groups hailed the decision, saying it has national implications.

The Oregon Firearms Federation wrote in a statement that “the Columbia County Court shot down ‘Everytown For Gun Safety,’ Mike Bloomberg’s New York Lawyers, and the usual gaggle of state worshippers and upheld the County’s 2nd Amendment Sanctuary ordinance, an ordinance the county commissioners hoped to torpedo.”

“This is a victory with national implications and a repudiation to the politics of division that Bloomberg and the gun grabbers are so famous for,” the statement added.

Sarah Hansen, a lawyer for the county, told the Columbia County Spotlight newspaper that it’s not clear if the county will try to appeal Grove’s ruling.

The ruling comes as a recent update on the website Sanctuary Counties revealed that more than 60 percent of all counties in the United States are “Second Amendment sanctuaries.”

“We have seen plenty of news about Constitutional Carry, which is another movement that we are actually quite supportive of,” the site said in a June update. “Yet the mainstream news has remained relatively silent regarding the massive Second Amendment Sanctuary movement, which leads us to a few questions.”

CDC: Vaccinated people should get tested after exposure, even without symptoms.

The agency now advises that vaccinated people be tested for the virus if they come into contact with someone with Covid-19, even if they have no symptoms. Previously, the health agency had said that fully vaccinated people did not need to be tested after exposure to the virus unless they were experiencing symptoms.

“Our updated guidance recommends vaccinated people get tested upon exposure regardless of symptoms,” Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the agency’s director, said in an email to The New York Times. “Testing is widely available.”

Fully vaccinated people should wear a mask in public indoor spaces after exposure, the agency said. Three to five days later, they should be tested for the virus.

If the results come back negative, they can stop wearing masks indoors. If results are positive, the infected should isolate at home for 10 days.

World’s Largest Food Company Will Raise Prices Amid Inflation

Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, announced it would hike prices in response to inflation.

As of June, inflation in the United States reached a year-over-year rate of 5.4%. Businesses and consumers are therefore seeking to retain their margins in the face of the diminishing purchasing power offered by the dollar.

As Nestlé CEO Mark Schneider explained to journalists on Thursday: “What we’ve seen this year is some kind of a turning point, where after several years of low inflation, all of a sudden it accelerated very strongly.”

CNN Business reports:

Schneider said he believes that inflation is transitory. But the owner of brands including Nescafe, Gerber and Cheerios said it would need to raise prices by roughly 2% to offset cost increases of 4%. Nestlé hiked prices by 1.3% in the first half of 2021.

The company can hedge against some cost increases, such as rising coffee prices, said Schneider. But it can’t avoid the rising cost of things like transportation, which puts pressure on the company’s margins.

Nestlé is not the only company to raise prices. CNN Business adds that General Electric, Unilever, and other large firms in a variety of industries are seeking to hedge against an increasingly salient inflation risk.

Meanwhile, many businesses are selling their items in smaller packages while maintaining the same price, a phenomenon known as “shrinkflation.” For instance, Walmart’s Great Value Paper Towels did not alter prices while reducing the number of sheets per roll from 168 to 120; Frito-Lay cut the typical bag of Doritos from 9.75 ounces to 9.25 ounces; and General Mills shrank its “family size” boxes from 19.3 ounces to 18.1 ounces.

A recent CNBC survey of leading CFOs revealed that at least one-third will be forced to raise prices if inflation continues. No financial executive said that they trust the Federal Reserve to effectively manage inflation over the next year.

Consumers are likewise feeling the effects of rising prices.

According to a survey from accounting firm KPMG, Americans are forecasting a 9% year-over-year increase in their back-to-school spend. Last year, they anticipated spending $247; this year, they anticipate spending $268.

Despite a strong economic recovery from COVID-19 and the lockdown-induced recession, inflation is counteracting a hike in Americans’ wages. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that “average hourly earnings” rose by 3.6% over the past year. After considering inflation, however, “real average hourly earnings” have diminished by 1.7%.

The Duplicitous Ruling Elites Have Awakened the American People

Over the past three decades, a sizable majority of the ruling elites have been preoccupied with self-aggrandizement and cohabitation with the Communist Chinese, ignoring the gradual and now complete domination of many of the nation’s institutions, and most importantly the Democrat party, by American Marxists.

After a premeditated fraudulent election underwritten by the same credulous elites, and with a witless marionette in the White House, these collectivists have been de facto governing the nation since January 20, 2021.  The past six months have revealed that thanks to these Marxists’ mindless allegiance to failed ideology and breathtaking ignorance of the American experience and citizenry combined with the now unmasked duplicity of the ruling elites, there is a massive awakening bubbling to the surface.

This cabal has for the past five years marginalized, physically confronted, and repeatedly accused not only the 75+ million Americans who voted for Donald Trump but any American not in lockstep with them of being racists, fascists, and white supremacists as well as homophobic, xenophobic and among the vilest people on the face of the earth.

What did they do once in power?   Try to bury the hatchet or just ignore this vast swath of the citizenry and hope they go away?  Neither.  They chose to further alienate the bulk of the voting populace.

They are accelerating demeaning accusations and rhetoric and exploiting the January 6th Capitol incursion as a vehicle to isolate and intimidate many of these same Americans.  They are continuing to fuel racial animosity in the hope of further dividing the citizenry and colluding with social media to censor “misinformation.”  Thus, fomenting resentment, ongoing political confrontations, and a determined retaliation at the ballot box in 2022 and 2024.

Committed to changing the demographics of the nation, the American Marxists have flung open the borders and are pushing amnesty as well as ultimate citizenship for upwards of 29+ million illegal immigrants and at least another 2-4 million more every year.  It is immaterial to the Marxists that the vast majority of these illegal immigrants are lacking basic literacy and employable skills.

Currently, 30% of all working families (or nearly 50 million Americans) are low-income but above the poverty threshold.  60% of these are families headed by racial/ ethnic minorities.  African Americans, while 13% of the population (41 million), account for nearly 30% of low-income working families.  Another 39 million Americans live below the poverty level.

Thus, a total of 89 million Americans live in low-income families or in poverty.  The American Marxists, through the Democrat party, claim to be the champion of minorities and low-income families while they plot to ultimately legalize an illegal alien population equivalent to 75% of the current African American population.

The Marxists and the Democrat party do not give a damn about the African American population, native-born Hispanics, and the low-income white working families as the potential votes of the illegal population are more important.  As the voting patterns in 2020 confirmed, these Americans are rapidly awakening and turning on this traitorous cabal as they are becoming acutely aware of being permanently marginalized.

Thanks to the Democrat-Marxist policies of defunding the police, ending cash bail, and curtailing the prosecution of criminals, murder, and mayhem on the streets of America has skyrocketed.  Now that they are in charge of the federal government, it is national policy to actively and solely focus on gun control and disarming law-abiding citizens as the only solution to the increasing violence and criminality.

Currently, 235 million Americans either own or could see themselves owning a gun. The Marxists in the Democrat party believe they can effectively confiscate guns in a nation of 330 million and 3.8 million square miles by doing the following:

1) Putting language in various bills that will in effect create a national registry of all gun owners.

2) Outlawing semi-automatic weapons.

3) Punitively taxing the ownership of guns, magazines, and ammunition making gun ownership unaffordable and requiring a federal license to own a gun.

4) Expanding open-ended red flag laws allowing anyone to file a complaint against someone, ostensibly based on their suspicions, thus allowing the police to seize the guns of the accused prior to any judicial proceedings.

In their zeal to overturn the Second Amendment and a centuries-old tradition of gun ownership that predates the Constitution, the American Marxists do not fathom the building tidal wave of resistance and push back from nearly two-thirds of the nation’s citizenry who view gun ownership as the only viable means of self-defense against the unbridled criminality wrought by the unfathomable policies of the Marxists.

Vice President Harris has some ground to make up in order to be perceived more favorably by the public, a complicating factor for the Biden administration as it maps out its midterm strategy.

Six months into office, polls indicate Harris is viewed less favorably than President Biden. She has also made some tactical missteps outside of the White House that Democrats say show she hasn’t quite yet found her bearings. . .

“As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates,” said one Democratic strategist. . . “No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?’” acknowledged one Harris ally. “She’s made a bunch of mistakes and she’s made herself a story for good and bad.”

One thing to keep in mind in reading a story like this is that The Hill, being part of the “mainstream” media, bends over backwards to downplay just how bad Harris’s plight is. (In fact the story tries to blame her problems on Republican attacks to “negatively brand Harris, oftentimes relying on racist and sexist stereotypes [boy, didn’t see that coming] to minimize her standing as the first female, Black and Asian American vice president.” Yeah, sure, that’s explains the whole thing. Funny how that didn’t work with Obama.) And yet the story still turns out this bad.

What this means is that behind the scenes, her poll numbers must be really bad, and leading Dems are panicked about it. Pass the popcorn please.

CDC justified new mask guidance based on vaccine study listed as failing peer review
Journal changes status of submitted India study from “reject” to “revise” after CDC highlights it.

he Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cited an unpublished study from India to justify its recommendation Tuesday that fully vaccinated people “wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission” of COVID-19.

That study, which claimed the Delta variant produced an unusually large viral load in more than 100 vaccinated healthcare workers with “breakthrough infections,” was listed as having failed peer review in the journal Nature when the CDC cited it.

Archives of the study’s page on Research Square, a preprint server for unpublished research, show that it was marked “reject” on July 9 and remained so at least through the evening of July 26, Eastern Daylight Time.

That version was still live early Wednesday morning, the day after the CDC cited the study in its July 27 updated science brief, according to a Twitter user who posted a screenshot.

The “reject” status and review notes were removed by mid-morning and replaced with “posted,” suggesting Nature had approved the paper without revisions, which drew controversy on Twitter. The notes were quickly restored and status changed to “revise,” bearing the same date — July 9 — as the original “reject” status.

Research Square addressed the confusion twice around noon Wednesday, blaming “a bug” and “a user interface error on our end.” It said the paper was still under review “and the current editorial decision is ‘Revise.'”

The review notes disappeared again from the “peer review timeline” later in the afternoon, leaving only a “current status” classification of the paper as “under review.” Research Square also posted a revised header clarifying that the paper was being considered by “a Nature Portfolio Journal,” not necessarily the flagship journal, and that it partners with the publisher on “a journal-integrated preprint deposition service.”

If the White House was truly confident that Missouri’s law violated the U.S. Constitution, I don’t think Merrick Garland would have hesitated to bring suit against the state. The fact that he hasn’t done so says quite a bit, and the fact that U.S. Attorneys are instead looking for ways to workaround the new law is even more telling.

US Attorneys Trying “Workaround” With Mizzou’s New 2A Preservation Act

Shortly after Missouri’s Second Amendment Preservation Act was signed into law by Gov. Mike Parson, the Biden administration fired off an attack of the new measure in the form of a letter from the Department of Justice to Parson and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt alleging that the SAPA violated the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Since then, however, the administration has been mostly mum on the new law. A couple of counties in Missouri have launched legal challenges to SAPA in state court, but the DOJ hasn’t followed suit with federal litigation.

Instead, as the Kansas City Star reports, the Department of Justice is quietly trying to find ways to work around some of the provisions of the law, which forbid state and local law enforcement agents from cooperating with their federal counterparts in enforcing any federal gun control statutes that aren’t mirrored in Missouri law. CDC Alerts Labs to Use Tests That Can Differentiate Between COVID and Flu.

At the end of last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a concerning laboratory alert.

The agency announced that after December 31, 2021, it will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel. The test came out in February 2020 to detect the SARS-CoV-2 (i.e., the coronavirus causing COVID019) only.

In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season. Laboratories and testing sites should validate and verify their selected assay within their facility before beginning clinical testing.

At the heart of the alert is a specific CDC-developed PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test to detect genetic material from a particular organism, such as a virus. The agency is stressing the need for multiple tests, including ones recommended by the CDC, which can look for both the coronavirus and various types of influenza at the same time. This offers a chance to do influenza surveillance and identify flu strains while testing for SARS-CoV-2(the virus that causes COVID-19).

It appears if the SARS-CoV-2-only test found only that pathogen, and if that was the only test done, then flu strains went undetected. The “flu season” impact is evident to anyone interested in looking at the data (emphasis mine).

Biden/Harris Administration already weaponizing ATF without waiting for Chipman

Even though Joe Biden’s nomination of David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has “issues” according to one senior Democrat, and is stalled in a Senate committee, the Biden/Harris Administration has started weaponizing the ATF without waiting for the president’s embattled nominee to take over.

As expected, their target is the firearms industry.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation recently received a copy of an internal ATF memo, which was written by Acting Assistant Director George Lauder and sent to ATF’s senior management.

The memo mentions Biden’s five-point strategy to reduce gun violence, which was announced at a press conference June 23.

“ATF’s role in the Strategy is essential, and includes refocusing our FFL inspection and administration action policies,” Lauder wrote.

The memo calls on field agents to prioritize their gun shop inspections by using a data tool that tracks the number of firearms sold by a gun dealer that are later used in crimes. It also tracks the time period between the sale and the crime.

When they say the memo, the NSSF immediately alerted their members, because of the impact it might have on a gun dealer’s ability to conduct business.

“This memo is concerning because it is the opening moves to the manifestation of what both President Biden and Vice President Harris said they would do during the presidential campaign. They said they would use the ATF as a bludgeon against the firearm industry and revoke licenses for minor clerical errors,” Mark Oliva, NSSF’s public affairs director told me Tuesday. “It is very concerning that the ATF would be using data analytics for crimes that were committed by unrelated third party or attempt to draw conclusions of time-to-crime statistics to label a lawful retailer as party to criminal activity.”

The remainder of the memo focuses on what Biden calls “rogue gun dealers,” who he claims are responsible for violent crime increases in five major cities historically controlled by Democrats.

If an ATF inspector finds that a gun dealer has transferred a firearm to a prohibited person, or failed to conduct a background check, falsified records or refused to cooperate with an ATF tracing request or inspection, the inspector is to recommend revocation of the dealer’s Federal Firearms License.

The gun dealers I spoke to Tuesday scoffed at this new assertion. This has always been the law, they said. The president is simply grandstanding, trying to take the heat off of the Democrats in charge of these crime-ridden cities by creating a new boogeyman for the public and the media to blame for the increasing crime – the “rogue gun dealer.”

“The overwhelming majority of firearm retailers abide by federal and state laws and regulations,” Oliva said. “Retailers that ignore the law are participating in criminal activity and NSSF wants those individuals to be held responsible for their actions, However, the Department of Justice’s own reports show the overwhelming majority of criminals obtain firearms through illicit means, mostly through theft or the black market.”

The day after Biden announced his five-point strategy, I submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the ATF, seeking the numbers of gun dealers, by state, who, over the past three years, have been prosecuted for willfully transferring a firearm to a prohibited person and/or for refusing to cooperate with a tracing request from the ATF. Experts say the number will be very small – less than a dozen across the entire country.

To date, the ATF has not even acknowledged receipt of the FOIA request.

“Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination based on data, that, that is a way to make sure they’re protected, their loved ones are protected, um, and that’s an extra step given the transmissibility of the virus.”

Because they say so?
That’s their answer?
That’s not an answer, it’s an excuse, one that can be used to justify anything by an authoritarian government. And one more indication that something stinks about this whole thing.

It’s not the vaccine, stupid

Why do so many Americans resist being vaccinated against COVID?  Or is that what they are actually resisting?

When I was a child, I was vaccinated against a number of deadly diseases.  As an adult, I had my own child vaccinated.  On the whole, vaccinations have saved countless lives and prevented epidemics that would otherwise have ravaged our nation and others.

Yet today, with a pandemic that has gripped the entire world with fears of a plague of (what they call) biblical proportions, there is more resistance to vaccination than ever before.  In reaction, there are calls for “vaccine mandates,” which would effectively force injections upon the population in vast numbers.  Why do so many people adamantly refuse to “take the shot”?

There is a reason.  Millions of Americans no longer trust their government.   The political left dismisses this distrust with its usual accusations of conservative ignorance, extremism, and racism, but those words, overused for many years, no longer coerce most Americans.

I know people who took the vaccine because their personal physicians, whom they trust, recommended it.  They were hesitant to accept that advice, but because of additional factors such as advanced age and complicated health issues, they finally gave in, fearing that for them, an infection might mean a death sentence.

However, when a bureaucrat demands that you be injected with a substance hidden behind walls of government censorship and secrecy, those with low risk factors are correct to be suspicious.  When that distrusted government starts making threats, it only further increases the suspicion.

To this day, there is no official, plausible statement regarding the origin of the China Virus.  (Even calling it by that name is deemed racist.)  There is a case to be made as follows:  the virus was engineered in a Chinese bioweapons research and development facility in the city of Wuhan.  It was released, either deliberately or through culpable negligence.  It then spread worldwide, due to the premeditated deception and travel policies of the Chinese government.

If this case is factual (the evidence for it is impressive), then China has committed an overt act of war and killed millions of people in the process.  Worse yet, it indicates a complete willingness of the Chinese communist government, in the near future, to recklessly inflict millions more deaths in the pursuit of its imperial designs.  We can expect more, and worse, from them.

What if that case is not factual?  If not, then one would expect complete and total transparency, from the Chinese, from the World Health Organization, and from the United States government.  None of them has been forthcoming.  Quite to the contrary, there has been continual reversal and self-contradiction in the official U.S. and WHO declarations.  The facts are shrouded in secrecy.  The Chinese government audaciously rejects any form of inspection and, indeed, punishes those of its people who speak out.

Combine these facts with other, unrelated reasons for which Americans distrust their government.  For example, why do Democrats so stubbornly resist audits of the 2020 elections if they have nothing to hide?  Why doesn’t Joe Biden take the cognitive abilities test that Democrats insisted President Trump take?  (Trump passed with flying colors.)  Why are there no significant prosecutions of leftist demonstrators who burned large areas of cities, but people who defended their property are punished?  These are trust issues of major importance, yet the government turns a deaf ear.  Officials demand that we comply with their capricious regulations, and then themselves disobey those orders without consequence, as if they regard themselves not as our public servants, but as our masters and overlords.

Now those same government officials who do all that are approaching us with a needle and asking us to allow them to inject who-knows-what into our bodies, with absolutely zero credible studies about the long-term effects.

Utterly lacking in self-awareness, they wonder why we would even question them.

Just may be me, but I detect a pattern that’s the cause of the problem.

ABC News Launches Weeklong Special on Crime Waves in Democrat-Run Cities

ABC News is running a weeklong special which examines the crime waves engulfing Democrat-run cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and New York.

Although the information is presented as national problem, the title is “One Nation Under Fire,” ABC News’ coverage began by mentioning shootings that occurred in Milwaukee during the celebration resulting from the Milwaukee Bucks wining the NBA finals.

Milwaukee is a Democrat-run city as are a host of others that are featured as exemplars requiring new, harsh gun control restrictions.

The evidence suggests otherwise:

ABC News noted they “dug” down and discovered “violence occurs disproportionately in poorer, urban areas — from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York City.”

Moreover, in looking at the gun violence that occurred around the nation last week, they noted “Illinois…topped the list for most people wounded from firearms at 124.”

Chicago is located in Illinois, and Breitbart News reported 13 were shot Thursday of last week in Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago, and nearly 30 people were shot on Wednesday.

ABC News also noted in Philadelphia, “the gun-related death toll has already surpassed 300 this year.”  Philadelphia is another Democrat-run city.

ABC News also covered an accidental shooting “in a dark church parking lot in Utah” on the night of July 17/18. This and similar mentions of isolated incidents allowed them to talk of gun violence without isolating the Democrat-run cities.
