Ohio Knife Law Reform Bill Signed!
Knife Rights’ Ohio Knife Law Reform Bill, SB 140, was signed today by Governor Mike DeWine. We sincerely thank Gov. DeWine for signing this important bill. Thanks and all of you who used Knife Rights Legislative Action Center for the hundreds of emails and calls to the governor.
NOTE: The new law does not take effect until April 10, 2021, 90 days after signing. The existing law is still in effect until then.
NOTE: We have not yet passed Knife Rights signature knife law preemption in Ohio, so individual cities and towns may still have knife ordinances more restrictive than state law. Knife Rights’ LegalBlade Knife Law App will be updated when the new law goes into effect. LegalBlade App includes laws in a number of Ohio cities and provides links to find municipal codes of many Ohio cities and towns.
SB 140 reforms Ohio knife law by making two separate substantive changes:
1. The ban on manufacture and sale of “switchblade,” “spring blade,” and “gravity” knives is repealed;
2. It clears up the vague and confusing Ohio law regarding carrying of ANY knife by defining a knife, razor, or cutting instrument as a “deadly weapon” or “weapon” ONLY if it is used as a weapon. This would allow carrying any knife concealed under state law.

Republican David Valadao unseats California Democrat Rep. T.J. Cox
Republican David Valadao has been declared the winner over Democrat Rep. T.J. Cox in California’s 21st Congressional District.
The Valadao win marks yet another blow to Democrats, who entered the election expecting to expand their majority, only to watch the GOP flip a number of House seats.
Mr. Valadao served in Congress from 2013 to 2019.

It’s possible that 2020’s election fraud is way bigger than we thought
Two massive Twitter threads contend that serious computer fraud two years ago in Texas, which turned strong red districts blue, was essentially a trial run for what’s been playing out across America in this election. This post summarizes the core claims in those threads, along with interlineations of information I found.
One Twitter thread comes from Roscoe B. Davis, the other from Bad Kitty.
Scytl is a Barcelona-based company that provides electronic voting systems worldwide, many of which have proven vulnerable to electronic manipulation. Scytl has (or had) Soros and Democrat party connections. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital has invested $40 million in Scytl.
In 2012, Scytl acquired all the assets of SOE Software, which was then America’s largest voting machine and software vendor. Scytl also acquired the trade name “Clarity Elections” and rebranded its American operations as “Clarity,” with a data process domain at clarityelections.com.
Everything on the Clarity site is unsecured on Amazon Web Services. By 2018, Scytl, using the Clarity network, supported elections in more than 12 states and 900+ jurisdictions, covering 70 million voters. Continue reading “”

AOC said she might quit politics, as some centrist Democrats blame progressives for House losses

Rural California is divided, armed for revolt. What’s the matter in the State of Jefferson?
Carlos Zapata has a message for any government official who shows up at his Tehama County restaurant and tries to enforce California’s pandemic shutdown orders.
“I’ve made it very clear that if they come to shut us down, I’m going to call 100,000 people that’ll be there with guns, and what happens happens, you know?” Zapata said Tuesday. “I’m hoping that they’re not stupid enough to want that kind of a fight over a restaurant being open, but if they want it, we’ll definitely give it to them.”
It’s not the first time the Red Bluff restaurant owner and U.S. Marine combat veteran has made those kinds of threats. A few weeks ago, he told the Shasta County Board of Supervisors to expect trouble if they enforce Gov. Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 restrictions on local businesses.
“Right now, we’re being peaceful,” he said in a short speech that has since made Zapata a celebrity among far-right groups. “But it’s not going to be peaceful much longer.”
Just about anywhere else in California, that sort of talk would have been widely condemned. But here, in what’s arguably the capital of the State of Jefferson — a decades-old movement to break off conservative northern counties from Democrat-controlled California — many have shrugged Zapata off as commonplace. Feds indict Youngstown man for having converted machine gun
It is Black’s third charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm since 2016 and second within a year
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Cambridge Avenue man for having a converted machine gun.
Marlin Black, 27, faces charges of possession of a machine gun and possession of an unregistered firearm.
The indictment was issued Friday but unsealed Monday in the U.S. Northern District Court Of Ohio.
The indictment said Black had a 9mm Glock 17 semiautomatic pistol in his home July 31 that was found after police responded to a call for a fight with weapons.
His girlfriend and mother of his three children told police she was arguing with Black over carrying his fourth child when she drove to the house.
She said she tried to talk to Black through the home’s surveillance system but when she got no answer, she went to drive away and heard shots.
When police got there, Black tried to run out the back door but went back inside, reports say. He later surrendered to police and told them they could check for a gun.
Officers went inside and found a revolver, drugs and cash. They waited for a search warrant before looking further, at which point they found three rifles, a revolver reported stolen out of Jefferson Township, more drugs and $80,845 in several vacuum-sealed bags throughout the house.
The Glock 17 is a handgun but the indictment said Black had a device attached to the gun that allowed it to fire like a machine gun. It is not uncommon for handguns to have high capacity magazines attached that allow them to fire as many rounds as a semiautomatic rifle. Continue reading “”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (‘ATF’) recently informed firearm manufacturer Q, LLC that, in ATF’s view, Q’s ‘Honey Badger’ pistol with stabilizing brace is actually a short-barreled rifle and therefore subject to the National Firearms Act (‘NFA’), the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action noted in an Oct. 6 alert asking members to take action by contacting the Department of Justice. “Since 2012, ATF has repeatedly found that firearms with pistol stabilizing braces, like the one equipped on Q’s Honey Badger pistol, are not ‘designed, made, and intended to be fired from the shoulder,’ and are therefore not subject to regulation under the NFA. Now, with no notice or opportunity for public input, ATF appears to be reversing course.”
NRA directed members to a notice from Q, LLC that explained the “cease and desist” letter ATF had sent the company in August, with instructions emphasized in bold-case ordering the company to:
Cease and desist all manufacture and transfer of the “Honey Badger Pistol” firearm unless you properly register each firearm manufactured on an ATF Form 2 as required by the NFA, and file the appropriate ATF Form prior to the transfer.
Contact ATF to develop a plan for addressing those firearms already distributed…
Provide a sample of the Sugar Weasel and Mini Fix firearms to ATF for an official clarification…
Just to make sure everyone was clear they were telling, not asking, ATF warned of consequences if they weren’t promptly obeyed:
“Your failure to take the above steps may result in (1) law enforcement action by ATF, including a referral of this matter to the United States Attorney’ Office for criminal prosecution; (2) tax assessment and collection; and/or (3) seizure and forfeiture of the firearms and property involved in violations of Federal law.”

Bus-size asteroid to zoom by Earth, ducking below satellites
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — An asteroid the size of a school bus is headed our way, but NASA says the space rock will zoom safely past Earth on Thursday.
The newly discovered asteroid will come within 13,000 miles of Earth, well below many of the communications satellites orbiting the planet, scientists said this week. The closest approach will occur Thursday morning over the southeastern Pacific Ocean.
Once it’s gone, the asteroid won’t be back to Earth’s neighborhood until 2041.
Scientists estimate the asteroid is between 15 feet and 30 feet. By asteroid standards, that’s considered puny. Asteroids of this size hit Earth’s atmosphere and burn up once every year or two, said Paul Chodas, director of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. There could be as many as 100 million of these little asteroids out there.
The real threat are considerably bigger asteroids. The good news is that these are easier to spot much sooner than just a few days out.
Asteroid 2020 SW, as it is known, was discovered last Friday by the Catalina Sky Survey at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Perhaps coexistence as one people is unachievable. Maybe the best we can hope for is an amicable divorce, though that seems unlikely. How would factions resolve differences over turf, resources, infrastructure, assets, and debts without conflict?

For the left, with its relentless march for power and dominance, we wonder what interest would compel it to honestly seek resolution with an American majority that supports the existing framework of law, government, and liberty?
I know of an ‘interest’ that would compel just about any rational person to seek an honest resolution of our differences. It begins with a reference to the last of the 4 “boxes of liberty” and ends with ‘or else‘. Unfortunately, I don’t see just a whole lot of ‘rational’ demoncraps to deal with.
Fox News had an interview posted on Labor Day with conservative filmmaker and commentator Dinesh D’Souza. D’Souza has a new film, Trump Card, which will be digitally released on October 9.
The article’s headline was “Dinesh D’Souza says recent riots and political unrest could lead to ‘rise of citizen militias around the country.” Anyone with a shred of common sense isn’t surprised.
When Democrats neuter police, refuse to impose strict curfews, and refuse to call up the National Guard, lawlessness, involving violence, ensues. Why should looters and rioters stand down when they routinely confront police whose hands are tied? Why wouldn’t emboldened mobs take their violence and destruction out of Democrat cities?
Marauders and thugs invading the ‘burbs have happened erratically, to date. But suburbanites best not think their communities immune. City riots are leftist arson. Once sparked, they can spread like wildfires. Mobs still have plenty to do torching Portland and other blue cities. But as forest fires crown and spread rapidly, so, too, may mob action if not halted.
Imagine firefighters being ordered to stand down when fires are raging. What alternative do citizens have then? Step into the breach or else. If leftist mobs move out to menace suburbs, why wouldn’t we expect citizens to band together to form militias, neighborhood by neighborhood, if only?
It’s not a bridge too far to expect sober citizens to exercise their ancient right to self-defense when governments cannot or will not meet their responsibilities to protect and defend. Government exists principally for that purpose. When governments fail to do so their legitimacy melts away. But that fact is too elemental, too grounded in the realities that govern human affairs. The upside-down morality that infects the Ted Wheelers and Jenny Durkans is a perversity, which has been rarely encountered so brazenly in America. It informs Democrat policies and governance. ‘Transforming’ the U.S. – Into What?
- Local businesses have been moving out. Greg Goodman, co-president of Portland’s Downtown Development Group recently wrote in a letter to Mayor Ted Wheeler and the city council that the number of businesses moving out of the city “is like nothing I have seen in 42 years of doing business in downtown”. Goodman said that the businesses leaving included Daimler Chrysler, Air B&B, Banana Republic and Microsoft, and argued that their departure “does have most everything to do with the lawlessness you are endorsing downtown.”
- “I would encourage each of you to walk around downtown Portland in the morning. You aren’t sweeping the streets, needles are all over the place, garbage cans are broken and left open, glass from car windows that have been broken out is all over the streets, parks are strewn with litter… You are willfully neglecting your duties as elected officials to keep our city safe and clean.” — Greg Goodman, in a letter to Portland’s Mayor Ted Wheeler and the city council.
- One influential national politician, however, promised with a smile that the “protests” are “not going to stop… They’re not going to stop before election day in November and they’re not going to stop after election day…. They’re not going to let up and they should not…”
- America could indeed be “transformed,” but if safe and successful cities keep being transformed into places of crime-ridden lawlessness, is that what Americans want?
