Furious WA Voters Tell Sen. Kuderer Guns Definitely ‘A Woman’s Issue’

Washington State Second Amendment activists are on the warpath against anti-gun State Sen. Patty Kuderer (D-Bellevue), sponsor of a bill to ban so-called “high capacity magazines” now moving in the Legislature, because during testimony supporting her measure, she declared “Guns are not a woman’s issue.”

Women gun owners are chiming in on the Washington 2022 Legislative Action Group’s Facebook page, telling the 48th District senator in no uncertain terms that guns are definitely a “woman’s issue.”

The magazine ban legislation was introduced at the request of anti-gun Democrat Attorney General Bob Ferguson. Kuderer was joined by several other Democrats to introduce the bill.

Now, the Washington Civil Rights Association has put together a scathing video featuring a video clip of Kuderer making the statement on TVW, the legislature’s pubic television service, accompanied by clips of several women involved in acts of armed self-defense. There is circus-type music in the background, and the overall effect is to portray Kuderer as out-of-touch with reality. While there might be a disclaimer if this video were to appear during a television news broadcast, the images don’t seem to bother any of the grassroots activists who have been viewing it.

In a terse response to the senator’s statement, Nicole McGinnis observed, “This infuriates me!”

In a more detailed critique, another woman—Lisa Duncan—told Liberty Park Press, “I…take offense over her remarks about guns not being a women’s issue whether it was taken out of context or not – her remarks imply women should opt a feeble demeanor, which in today’s world, classifies as submission to being a victim versus understanding and exercising one’s options in situations where a more lethal means of self-protection may be necessary. We are seeing this all over the place and it’s unacceptable.”

Earlier, in a comment posted on the Legislative group’s page, Duncan observed, “Women are now 3rd class citizens with all the Title amendments and therefore we (women) are expected to throw down the gender flag, submit to being a statistic or slap on a shiny victim badge…”
Kuderer’s magazine ban legislation passed the Senate in a late-evening vote earlier this week, and gun owners are flooding the Capitol switchboard with calls to their state House representatives, hoping to stop it there.

In a Thursday email blast, the billionaire-backed and Seattle-based gun prohibition lobbying group Alliance for Gun Responsibility declared victory.

“Getting this passed in the Senate is an enormous step forward,” said AGR’s Renee Hopkins, “but it still has to go through the House too. And in a short legislative session with our fired up opposition, that’s a tall order.”

Her message was countered by an alert from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, encouraging gun owners to contact the House membership (listed individually with telephone numbers and email addresses). Gun owners are also apparently flooding the Toll-Free Legislative Hotline at (800) 562-6000.
