The gunman was identified as a 28-year-old white woman from Nashville, and she was armed with “at least” two assault weapons and a handgun, according to police. On Monday afternoon, Nashville Police Chief John Drake stated that the three youngsters had been identified and their families had been informed. “For now, I’m not going to mention the ages, other than to say that seeing this and the kids as they were being escorted out of the facility literally moved me to tears,” Drake stated. When the officers moved upstairs and saw the gunman firing, they “engaged” her. He claimed that two of the five responding police officers fatally shot her.
