’I reached over and got my shotgun, and I cocked it’: Grandma fends off would-be burglar
SPANAWAY, Wash. — A 78-year-old woman from Spanaway held an intruder at gunpoint after finding the man breaking into her home, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, who goes by Sandy, knew something was wrong when her dog, Booboo, started barking Sunday night.
“I opened my door, and standing right 2, 3 feet in front of me was a man. We looked at each other for a few seconds, and he turned and started to leave. And I said, ‘Oh no, you don’t. You stay right there!’” she said.
Sandy said her neighborhood has been plagued by crime recently, resulting in her car being prowled twice. When she came face to face with the intruder, she wasn’t about to let him run away.
“I reached over and got my shotgun. And I cocked it, and I told him to stay right there,” she said. “Told him to go sit on the steps. I followed him out, and I just stood here with the shotgun waiting for the police to come.”
It was Sandy’s first time using the shotgun, which she got years ago to protect her family as a single mother. She was initially “scared to death” while holding the intruder at gunpoint.
“But then I was totally calm, really and truly. I thought, ‘This is amazing!’ I said, ‘You know, I’ve got grandchildren your age!’”
The grandmother asked why he tried to break in and was alarmed to hear some of his answers. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office reported the man told deputies, “He was looking for his wife and talked about how God had sent him.”
Deputies arrested the suspect and said it’s all thanks to Sandy’s quick thinking and bold actions.
The grandmother said she’s grateful no one, including the intruder, got hurt.
“After he was so meek and mild and sat down like I told him to do? It was empowering. I felt like at least I was in charge. I wasn’t afraid,” she said.
Deputies said the suspect did not show any signs of impairment and did not seem distressed. He was released after the homeowner chose not to press charges.
Waukegan attempted home invasion leaves 2 dead, gun recovered
WAUKEGAN, Ill., (WLS) — Waukegan police said an attempted home invasion left two men dead in the front yard of a home Tuesday morning.
“I cannot remember the last time we had two people try and break into a home, if that is what happened, where they are shot in the front yard,” said Waukegan Police Department Commander Joe Florip. “This is an isolated and specific incident, and I do not remember anything like this happening.”
The shooting happened at around 10 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 100-block of Frolic Avenue.
Waukegan police said someone inside of the home called 911 around 10 a.m. after they said two men, armed with a gun, tried to break into their house.
“They thought that the house was empty and they didn’t think anyone was there,” said the aunt of one of the home’s residents.
The aunt, who only gave her first name Lorena, said her niece was home around 10 a.m. when two men came to the door disguised as gas company employees, or something similar.
“They were knocking the door down with their feet, she just opened it a little bit to see who it was, and they forced themselves in,” she said
Huddled inside the home, she said her niece screamed for help.
“All I know is she started yelling for the roommate and he came up, that’s when he went back down and got a gun and came back up,” Lorena said.
She said the roommate started firing from inside the house, and police said one of the two attempting intruders fired too.
“It was in like two to three intervals,” said Devarre Ervin, neighbor. “I heard like a ‘dun dun dun dun dun.’ My dogs were barking. That’s why I came to my door to check.”
The resident’s aunt said her niece was watching a young child and ran out the back door as bullets flew back and forth.
Police said they aren’t sure who fired first, but they said both alleged intruders were shot dead in the front yard.
“I was watching TV and heard them and I looked outside. You heard the three ‘pops’ and then two ‘pops,'” said John Schneider, neighbor.
“I saw the bodies and just kind of stood back like ‘woah,'” said Ervin.
Detectives said they found at least one gun on the suspects, but have not yet said who the suspects are or why they chose to target the home on Frolic Avenue.
Family said everyone inside the home is shaken up but OK.
“If she would have been by herself, it would have been a totally different story,” the woman’s aunt said.
While this is from last year, it’s message is still ‘current’

Home invasion suspect shot in Flower Mound
A home invasion suspect is in critical condition after being shot by a Flower Mound homeowner on Sunday afternoon.
Flower Mound police responded to a shooting call at approximately 2:22 p.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of Briar Lane.
During the 911 call, the homeowner stated he had shot at an unknown male and female, who had allegedly broken into his house through the back door. After the gunshot, both individuals fled the location in a vehicle.
Upon arrival, police were able to locate the vehicle a short distance away, where it was determined the male suspect had been shot one time in the chest.
The 29-year-old male suspect was transported to Medical Center Denton where he was immediately taken into surgery. He has since been moved into ICU and is in critical condition.
The 30-year-old female suspect was taken to the Police Department for questioning, and was later placed in custody for an unrelated parole violation warrant.
At the scene, Flower Mound detectives were able to determine the male had forced entry and confronted the homeowner. The homeowner told the suspect to leave several times and warned him, without success. Police said the homeowner felt threatened as the suspect kept moving toward him, which is when he fired one shot at the suspect.
Police are questioning the female suspect, but as of Sunday night have not determined a motive.
No charges are expected to be filed on the homeowner as a result of the incident, police said.
Slugged with his own gun. Yeah, that’ll play well in jail.
18-year-old tries to rob taxi driver, shot with his own gun
Gresham, Oregon…………
An 18-year-old is accused of trying to rob a taxi driver and getting shot with his own gun during a struggle, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called out at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday morning on reports of a robbery near the intersection of SW 188th Court and SW Farmington Road. The cab driver told deputies that he picked up 18-year-old Josiah Johnson in Gresham. When Johnson asked to go to the Aloha area, the driver asked for partial payment up front or collateral because of the long drive.
Deputies said Johnson gave the driver his cell phone, and then they drove to a home near the intersection of SW 188th Court and SW Farmington Road. When they arrived, the driver said Johnson tried to pay with a fake $100 bill, which he immediately recognized was fraudulent. That’s when deputies said Johnson pulled a gun out and pointed it at the back of the cab driver’s head and started yelling.
According to deputies, the driver saw an opportunity to grab the gun from Johnson, so he did. A struggle over the gun ensued, and it went off – hitting Johnson. Both Johnson and the cab driver got out of the car, where the fight continued. Deputies said the cab driver was able to get the gun away from Johnson, throw it away from both of them, and yell for help.
Neighbors heard the commotion, helped the cab driver hold Johnson down, and called 911. Deputies arrived shortly after. Johnson was arrested at the scene and taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries, according to deputies.
Johnson was later booked into the Washington County jail on:
- Robbery in the first degree
- Assault in the fourth degree
- Menacing
- Unlawful use of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree
- Possession of a controlled substance – schedule IV

TBI Statement: Dangelo Dorsey Case.
UPDATE (Monday, September 14, 10:25 AM Central): As the investigation continues, and as TBI Agents learn more about the set of events that unfolded on and around Interstate 24 on Sunday afternoon, the Bureau would like to clarify the record on two points.
- Following the shooting inside of the vehicle on Sunday morning, in which Dangelo Dorsey shot and killed one person and shot and injured another, Dorsey exited and attempted to carjack a nearby vehicle. The driver was able to escape on foot. Dorsey then approached a nearby truck, and during the exchange with that driver, Dorsey fired his weapon and shot him in the face. At that point, Dorsey approached another driver and, when she attempted to drive away, shot through the car’s window, striking her in the hand. At that point, Dorsey drove off in an undetermined vehicle, rear-ending the Ford Mustang in which Phillip Jordan Stevens and his wife were traveling. They stopped, believing it to be a fender-bender, and – at that point – Dorsey took them hostage at gunpoint.
- Shortly before the police pursuit, Dorsey took both hostages to a location in the McMinnville area, separated them, and executed the male hostage in view of his wife. He then forced the woman back into the Rav4 and returned to the interstate, ultimately leading to the pursuit and subsequent crash.
Billings pizza delivery driver shoots alleged robber
One man is in the hospital with a gunshot wound after apparently trying to rob a worker delivering a pizza on the South Side Friday night.
Multiple Billings Police Department cruisers responded around 8:20 p.m. to the 300 block of South 28th Street, blocking off a portion of the road between Third and Fourth Avenue South. The condition of the man is unknown, and police are still conducting an investigation.
“The pizza delivery guy was attempting to deliver pizzas, when he claims that he was robbed. While in the process of being robbed, in self-defense he’s claiming, he fired a weapon, striking the suspect,” said Billings Police Sgt. Clyde Reid.
A white Sedan at the scene had a cracked windshield with visible holes. Reid said the suspect was struck in the abdomen, and then ran into a nearby alleyway where officers apprehended him. The delivery man remained under questioning by police, while the suspect was transported to St. Vincent Healthcare.
Reid said no arrests have been made, and detectives will be at the scene to continue the investigation.
“Right now, we’re trying to contact people in the area to find out what they’ve seen, trying to prove or disprove what we’ve been told,” he said.
Richardson gun store owner fakes heart attack, grabs gun to shoot armed robber
RICHARDSON, Texas – A group of armed men robbed a Richardson gun store Thursday, but one of them didn’t get away from the scene.
Mike Brown runs Mike’s Gun Room by himself. The 77-year-old says the group of masked men first acted like shoppers and then made it clear they came to rob the place. Brown pretended he was having heart trouble. It bought him enough time to grab a gun and shoot one of the suspects.
It’s a scenario Brown has played out inside his mind for the 26 years he’s owned a gun store, but Wednesday was the first time he says it happened.
Brown says three men came into his store at first seemed like they were shopping. Then, their actions changed. “They told me to get around behind the counter,” he said. “Get down on the floor.”
Brown says they held guns to the back of his head and then stole at least 50 weapons. The 77-year old says he faked having a heart condition in order to get his own gun. “I’ve got a heart medication and I’ve got to get to my pills,” he said.
Brown says the men started to leave by the time he grabbed his gun, so he pointed it at the only person still inside. “I told him to stop,” he said. “He turned around and I saw he had one handgun in his hand when he turned around.”
Brown shot the man in the shoulder. He fell to the ground outside while his accomplices drove off. Police arrived, and he’s now in custody at a hospital.
“I would not say it’s very common during the day like the situation here,” said Sara Able with the ATF Dallas Field Division. The ATF believes Brown was targeted since he works alone and he doesn’t have surveillance. Agents are concerned about where those guns might end up. “They are known to end up in the hands of those who commit violent crimes,” Able said.
Richardson police are searching for at least three other people involved. They may be driving a Chevy Impala with a paper license plate. “I’m sorry I had to shoot somebody, but — better than Plan B,” Brown said, referring to the possibility of him being shot.
The marine and Vietnam veteran who says he is used to high-pressure situations has a message for the ones who got away.
“Don’t come back,” he said. “I’ve got more ammo.”
This is how ‘twisted’ the purported logic is of those who 1, don’t like the idea of personal self-defense and 2, when guns are involved, their mind goes blank in a spasm of ‘Guns are BAAAAD!‘. And being a former law clerk of a noted proggie, leftist anti-gun Supreme Court Justice seals the deal, his head full of mush being better used as a hat rack when it comes to propounding on anything to do with individual rights, especially RKBA.
I’m not going to waste my time, or yours, trying to fisk this crap-for-brains piece of opinionated garbage. Any of the readers I know are more than intelligent enough to detect the fallacies and mistakes (purposeful or otherwise) on their own that this thoroughly indoctrinated ‘Harvard professor’ made in this propaganda piece.
The purpose of this post being to – again – display the generations of people who are teaching indoctrinating our children in the colleges and universities these days.
How Guns Twist the Logic of Self-Defense Laws
You’d think it would be easy to determine whether Kyle Rittenhouse can successfully plead self-defense after killing two people and injuring a third during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Turns out that it’s actually pretty complex. Here’s why: When gun rights get involved, the law tends to depart radically from common sense. Continue reading “”

Man wounded after kicking in door of Fort Worth residence in home invasion
A man was shot and wounded early Wednesday after he kicked in the front door of a Fort Worth home in what police say was a possible attempt to steal guns from the residence, police said.
The wounded suspect fled the scene and police continued their search for him Wednesday. The home invasion occurred just before 1:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Roaring Springs Road.
Witnesses told Fort Worth police that after he entered the home, the suspect began assaulting a woman. Her son shot the suspect in the leg.

Wonderful idiot copy writers. The homeowner shot to defend himself, not because the thug was trespassing.

Man shot in the arm after attacking ex-girlfriend, 2-year-old child
SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot in the arm and may face charges after attacking his ex-girlfriend and her 2-year-old child on the West Side, according to San Antonio police. The incident happened a little after 8 p.m. Friday in the 3700 block of Wurzbach Road.
