Victim shoots armed robber in the face
HOUSTON (WOAI) — An armed robber was shot in the face when his victim pulled out a gun and defended himself, police say.
It happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday near Airport Blvd. and Monroe Blvd. by the William B Hobby Airport. A man was minding his own business, walking down the street on his way to make a few purchases at a local Shell station. That’s when a driver dropped off the suspect who pulled up his shirt to show off his gun and demanded the victim’s valuables, according to police.
What this armed robber didn’t plan on is his victim being armed and ready. The suspect quickly pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect in the face.
The suspect was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
He was shot in the face one time. He’s at the hospital. He’s going to live. He’s conscious and breathing right now,” said Lieutenant R. Willkens from the Houston Police Department.
No charges are expected against the shooter as he was being robbed at gunpoint and defended himself.
>“He’s being extremely cooperative. He has no criminal history whatsoever,” explained Lieutenant Willkens.
Man who shot teen on RTD bus says it was in self defense
AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — William Farnsworth has had to pull out his gun many times as a bounty hunter, but the 23-year-old said he never thought the first time he would shoot someone would be on a moving RTD bus in Aurora.
“I tried my best to defend myself before I used a weapon, and, in the end, I had to shoot him,” Farnsworth said in an exclusive interview with the Problem Solvers.
“I was losing consciousness, the man was on top of me beating me senseless and he said, ‘I’m going to kill you.’ And I told myself, ‘If you lose consciousness, he’s going to follow through with that threat,’” Farnsworth said.
Farnsworth was riding the bus July 9 with his wife and 18-month-old daughter when he said he and his wife asked a young couple on the bus to stop vaping because it’s not allowed.
“He ignored us until the third time we asked him. He stood up and he said, “F— you, f— your wife and f— your baby.’ And he started swinging at my wife and baby first, and I had to throw myself in-between them,” Farnsworth said.
Farnsworth then took out his gun and shot the unidentified teenager once in the chest.
“He said, ‘You shot me’ and walked off the bus and lied in the grass. Made no attempt to put pressure on the wound,” Farnsworth said.
“I acted in self-defense, and most of the officers on the scene told me they would’ve done the same thing,” said Farnsworth.
The Problem Solvers made a public records request for the bus surveillance video, but an RTD spokesperson told FOX31 the footage would not be released because it’s part of a pending criminal case.
However, law enforcement sources told the Problem Solvers the surveillance video backs up Farnsworth, who insisted he had no choice but to use deadly force when he was attacked.
Even though Farnsworth faces no charges, he’s been told he can’t have his Glock handgun back until the case against the teenager is adjudicated because prosecutors need the gun as evidence.
Intruder shot, killed after breaking into home, assaulting ex-girlfriend in Mt. Healthy
MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio —
An intruder was shot and killed after he broke into a Mt. Healthy home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend who was inside, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said.
It happened Sunday around 2:27 a.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of Park Avenue.
Officials said Gregory Lyle, 33, entered through the window of the home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend who was inside.
A man living in the house saw Lyle and shot him. Lyle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the public.
Authorities say Lyle had open warrants and was the subject of prior domestic violence calls at the home.
Officials with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and determine if charges are appropriate.
Investigation Into Fatal Shooting At 4135 West Bellfort Street
September 02, 2021 [Houston, TX]- The fatal shooting of a man at 4135 West Bellfort Street about 12:55 a.m. today (September 2) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The suspect, Arthur Carr, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective M. Perez reported:
The suspect, Carr, attempted to gain entry into an apartment at the above address by prying open the front door. Failing this, he then kicked the door open and went inside. The female resident, 22, was on the phone with 9-1-1 when Carr entered. She then shot Carr multiple times and then attempted to render aid. Carr was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Carr and the resident have a dating history. The resident was not harmed in this incident.

3 shot, including suspect, during dispute over tools at northern Jefferson County home
A 32-year-old man was jailed early Friday following a shooting that left three people injured in northern Jefferson County – including himself.
Brandon Scott Swack, of Morris, is accused of firing on another man during a dispute over tools.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Joni Money said the incident happened about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Paradise Valley Road.
According to Money, Swack went to the location demanding to borrow some tools.
Swack became angry when the man declined his request and left the home.
Swack, however, returned a short time later brandishing a pistol.
The victim grabbed a shotgun and when Swack raised his gun, Money said, the victim fired, striking Swack in the face.
Swack then began randomly firing his pistol, striking the victim and a female who was also at the house.
All three were taken to UAB Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Money said all are expected to recover.
Swack was booked into the Jefferson County Jail shortly after 2 a.m. Friday.
He is charged with attempted murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief. His bonds total $60,000.
Possible would-be car burglar shot, killed by homeowner in Kingwood
PORTER, Texas – Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after they said a possible would-be car burglar was fatally shot in Kingwood Thursday night.
Deputies said the deadly shooting happened in the driveway of a home located in the 22700 block of Adrift Row Lane around 9 p.m.
According to investigators, a homeowner’s motion detection camera alerted him of some activity in his driveway. Deputies say the homeowner found a 23-year-old man he didn’t know sitting in his car. The homeowner had asked the intruder to leave right before fatally shooting him, deputies said.
“As the male homeowner approached the vehicle, (he) ordered the name subject out at gunpoint,” Specialist S. Squier with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said. “He became aggressive, uncooperative. The suspect made the statement, ‘I will not go back to prison.’”
Deputies said as the alteration continued, the homeowner fired two shots, striking the subject who went down and was later pronounced dead.
The man’s name has not been released. Deputies said they are still trying to contact his family.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, are investigating the shooting. There’s no word yet on whether the homeowner will face any charges.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Demetrius Jackson, the man killed in the Lodi Street shooting on Tuesday, was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun while outside of 1808 Lodi Street, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said.
Jackson threatened multiple people at the location and fired the loaded handgun in the direction of those people, officials said.
Another man, who was on scene and in possession of a 9mm handgun returned fire striking and killing Jackson, Fitzpatrick said.
According to Fitzpatrick, this man has a valid pistol permit for the 9mm handgun.
The District Attorney said in a statement that based on preliminary investigation, it appears the man who shot Jackson saved the lives of several individuals.
The Syracuse Police Department is still investigating the shooting.
The District Attorney’s Office is aware that the man who shot Jackson and other witnesses to the incident have received threats and suffered property damage in what they say appears to be retaliation.
Those acts are currently being investigated, Fitzpatrick said.

Homeowner shoots, kills alleged burglar who reportedly attacked him
A Tulsa homeowner shot and killed a man he said broke into his home, stole his belongings and attacked him with a metal object.
The homeowner attempted to keep the man from leaving the property in the 900 block of South Allegheny Avenue while he called 911, but the man began attacking him with a metal object, he said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died. His identity had not been released Friday pending notification of his next of kin.
Tulsa Police Homicide Lt. Brandon Watkins said the homeowner was not arrested, with indications that the shooting was in self-defense, but detectives planned to meet with the man and his attorney Friday.
The deceased is the 36th homicide victim in Tulsa this year; detectives worked a separate self-defense slaying earlier Thursday.
City’s 35th homicide appears to be self-defense slaying
A fatal shooting officers say appears to have been in self-defense has launched a 35th homicide investigation of the year for Tulsa Police Department.
Officers responded around 4:15 a.m. Thursday to a shooting call from the 2100 block of North Hartford Avenue, where a victim later identified as Isaac Weeks was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Weeks, 40, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a Tulsa Police Department news release.
The individual identified as the shooter reportedly turned himself in and was questioned by detectives from the Homicide Unit before being released pending further investigation.
Man shoots, kills suspect who tried to rob him in Capitol Hill street
SEATTLE – A would-be robbery victim turned the tables on his attacker, killing the suspect who allegedly demanded money from the man early Tuesday in Capitol Hill. police said.
Police say the man was in the 1000 block of East John Street at 1:12 a.m. when a 24-year-old man tried to rob him.
The 39-year-old man told police he took out his gun and opened fire, shooting the suspect.
Detectives say the potential robbery suspect was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.
“Deputies aren’t certain why the suspected intruder entered the home.”
“Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting.”

Suspected home intruder dies after Bonney Lake shooting
A 46-year-old man who deputies suspect was a home intruder died Tuesday night after being shot at a home in Bonney Lake.
The man was shot Tuesday afternoon by the homeowner’s son, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Detective Alex Richards said. He said the suspected intruder entered the home, and an altercation between the man and the 31-year-old son ensued.
The homeowner’s son shot the suspected intruder, Richards said. The man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The homeowner wasn’t at the residence at the time of the shooting, Richards said. He said the son was interviewed by investigators who determined the shooting was likely self-defense. He was not booked into jail.
Deputies aren’t certain why the suspected intruder entered the home. Richards said the investigation is ongoing.
Initial post (Aug. 31, 2:30 p.m.): A Bonney Lake man called 911 Tuesday morning to tell police he shot an intruder inside his home. The man shot was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Pierce County sheriff’s deputies responded about 11:10 a.m. to the 3200 block of 214th Avenue East near Bonney Lake after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots coming from a neighbor’s house, according to posts on the department’s Facebook page.
Minutes later, another person called 911 and said he had shot an intruder inside his home, according to the post.
At the scene, deputies found a man inside the house with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital.
Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5520 Cavalcade Street
The fatal shooting of a man at 5520 Cavalcade Street that occurred about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday (August 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The victim, Michael Saulsberry, 40, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The male shooter remained at the scene and was questioned and released, pending further investigation.

HPD officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a Mr. Saulsberry suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to the hospital. .
Based upon statements from the shooter and evidence at the scene, the shooting appears to have been in self defense.
The investigation is on-going.
Melbourne barbershop owner shoots, wounds masked gunman
MELBOURNE [Florida]— A Melbourne barbershop owner shot and wounded a masked gunman who entered the shop Saturday afternoon and pointed a firearm at several people, police said Sunday.
The shooting occurred about 3:25 p.m. Saturday at New York Hair Barber Shop, which is located in a small strip mall on Florida Avenue, just west of Babcock Street, said Melbourne Police Lt. Ryan Schorer.
The gunman, whom police identified as Palm Bay resident Marlon Mascoe, 24, was shot in the hip. He was disarmed and apprehended at the scene by patrons and employees, and is being treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Schorer said.
“The investigation revealed that it wasn’t related to a robbery. It was actually related to a prior haircut transaction he was unhappy with, or an interaction inside the business,” Schorer said.
Mascoe has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
Police Investigating Intruder Shot and Killed by Homeowner in California, [Maryland]
UPDATE 8/30/2021: On August 27, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 23200 block of Woodland Acres Road in California, for the reported burglary with an individual shot.
Deputies arrived on scene and located an individual, later identified as Tavein Malik Dickens, age 23 of Lexington Park, suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were attempted at the scene and Dickens was transported to an area trauma center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation determined Dickens forced entry to the residence through the front door after repeatedly banging on other exterior doors and windows around the residence.
As Dickens entered the residence, he was confronted by the homeowner at which time a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking Dickens in the upper body.
The investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed with the State’s Attorney for St. Mary’s County
Man who forced his way into Newport Beach home is shot, killed by occupant
An occupant of a Newport Beach [California] home shot and killed a man on Thursday morning, Aug. 26, after the man forced his way into the residence, police said.
Officers responded to a call in the area of Redlands Drive and Indus Street in Newport Heights shortly after 4 a.m. about a man who seemed to be having a mental health crisis or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He “forcibly” entered the home and was shot by someone inside, authorities said in a news release.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, said Heather Rangel, a spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department. She said there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood.
The identity of the dead man and other details surrounding the case were not released as of Thursday afternoon.
The investigation is continuing.
Oklahoma police investigating after alleged burglar shot by homeowner
LAWTON, Okla. (KFOR) – Authorities in Lawton are investigating a shooting involving a homeowner and an alleged burglar.
Oklahoma City Police investigate after alleged robbery suspect shot, killed by potential victim
On Tuesday, officers with the Lawton Police Department were called to a home in the 3300 block of N.W. Cache Rd. following an attempted burglary.
A witness says that a homeowner heard someone breaking into the home through the back door.
After yelling at the burglar to leave, officials say the homeowner shot the alleged burglar after he entered the house.
The alleged burglar is currently recovering.
Authorities are investigating the break-in and the shooting.
Man shoots person in self-defense on West Side
CHICAGO – A man shot someone in self-defense Wednesday morning in Austin on the West Side, Chicago police said.
Police said the man, 39, opened fire after another man started attacking him with a knife. The attack happened around 8:50 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Lockwood Avenue.
The man who was shot, a 23-year-old, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Intruder shot in the neck and killed after breaking into South Carolina home
A man is dead after breaking into a South Carolina home, according to the Spartanburg Police Department.
It happened on James H. Young Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to police, residents said the man kicked in the back door of the home brandishing a handgun, there was a confrontation and one of the residents shot him.
According to police, he was shot in the neck and died at the hospital. The coroner’s office identified the man as Damion Quintel Henderson, 29.
The residents were not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.

Pacific woman charged in fatal shooting of two men
SULLIVAN, Mo. – Charges were issued on a 23-year-old woman after two men were fatally shot Friday morning in the 3300 block of Lollar Branch Road in Sullivan.
Marie E. Pursley, Pacific, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree robbery, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Her bond was set at $250,000 cash-only.
Pursley and the two men who were fatally shot had planned to rob a residence for money and narcotics. She dropped them off near the location of the residence, knowing they had firearms, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Car vaults off tow truck flatbed, worker dies after being struck on I-70
Pursley then went inside the residence and started doing narcotics with the homeowner. The two men came into the home and pointed guns at the homeowner. Another occupant inside the home then grabbed his gun and ordered the two men to drop their guns.
A physical confrontation then took place where gunshots were fired. The shooting resulted in the death of the two men.
Pursley was found by police later that morning.
Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area for a report of a shooting around 5:30 a.m. They found a 23-year-old man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead by EMS. This victim was from Gray Summit.
Police found a second 24-year-old shooting victim from St. Clair. He was driven to a nearby hospital and later pronounced deceased.
Armed Man Shoots, Kills Robbery Suspect In Bricktown
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City police said an armed suspect was shot to death in an attempted robbery Monday in Bricktown.
According to police, this occurred at 150 E. Reno Ave near the U-Haul Moving & Storage facility.
Police said the suspect approached two people, pulled out a gun, and demanded their property. According to the report, one of the victims then pulled out his own weapon and shot the alleged robber.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and began CPR on the suspect.
The suspect died at the scene.
Gun owner shoots man who pulled gun on him during fight
HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition after he threatened a gun owner with a gun during an argument Saturday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.
Houston police said the shooting was reported at a place of business where the gun owner worked in the 8500 block of West Montgomery Road around 1 p.m.
Police said the 27-year-old man walked into the business and asked associates about the 59-year-old man’s whereabouts. Police said the 59-year-old man was outside on a work break when he and the 27-year-old got into an argument. Police said the 27-year-old pulled out a gun during the fight.
Then, the 59-year-old man told investigators that he pulled out a gun he owned and shot the man in self-defense, according to police. The man who was shot crashed his vehicle in an attempt to flee but then fled the scene on foot, police said. Officers later found him in the area and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, police said.
The gun owner left the scene of the shooting, but later returned to answer officers’ questions and give a statement, police said.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
Occupants shoot intruder multiple times at residence in south Toledo early Friday morning
TOLEDO, Ohio — A would-be burglar is fighting for his life after being shot overnight. This happened around 1 a.m. Friday morning on the 200 block of Knower Street in south Toledo.
Toledo police tell us that the man tried to burglarize a home that was occupied. He made it through the front door and was met with force when a female resident fired at him, hitting him multiple times. That man then stumbled away and fell onto the front lawn where he was found by medics. Life-saving procedures were being done on the man as he was being put into the life squad. He was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. We are told that he did have a pulse.
The woman who fired the gun was taken in for questioning as standard protocol. We are also told that there were several children inside of the home when the man entered. Nobody else was injured.
The man’s identity was not known by Toledo police as of late Friday morning. According to the incident report, more than one occupant of the house fired at the intruder, and a male and female were listed as occupants of the house who were involved. The intruder’s injuries were described as life-threatening.
Germantown homicide under investigation after homeowner shoots, kills alleged intruder
GERMANTOWN, Md. (WDVM) — Montgomery County Police are investigating a shooting in Germantown after a homeowner allegedly shot an intruder trying to get into his home Monday evening.
Police say they got a call from the homeowner around 7:30 pm, saying someone was trying to get into his home along Futura Ct in Germantown. The homeowner told police he shot the man trying to get in.
Officers say the alleged intruder was found dead at the scene. Police have identified the deceased as 31-year-old, Louis Alfredo Sanchez, Jr. of Germantown, also saying the two men were known to each other.
MCPD officers interviewed the homeowner and passed details onto the Montgomery County State’s Attorneys office. They’ll decide whether to file charges against the homeowner for shooting the alleged intruder.

Clerk shoots, kills person trying to rob 7-Eleven in Norfolk
NORFOLK, Va. — A man was shot and killed Sunday night after he tried to rob a 7-Eleven store, the Norfolk Police Department said.
Around midnight, police responded to the store at 1713 Colley Avenue after a gunshot victim was reported. Officers found Javier Garcia, 28, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators think a clerk shot Garcia while he was trying to rob the store.
Police haven’t shared the clerk’s name.
Garcia was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The police department said detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
Richmond robbery victim pulls out gun, shoots assailants
RICHMOND, Va. — A man robbed in Richmond pulled out a gun and shot his assailants, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.
One of the men died as a result of the shooting, the other was taken to the hospital.
The incident happened Friday afternoon along the 1100 block of Commerce Road in South Richmond.
The wounded men drove away after the shooting.
They were later found less than a mile away near East 18th Street and Fairfax Avenue.
