Defensive Gun Use Statistics:
America’s Life-Saving Gun Incidents (2024)
The Second Amendment limits the government’s power over the people’s right to keep and bear arms for the defense of our nation. However, Americans uniquely have the right to defend our lives with the most effective tools available.
A widely disputed topic between gun advocates and anti-Second Amendment advocates is the number of defensive gun uses (DGUs) each year. Fortunately, we have data to better understand the effect armed civilians have on criminality.
The following section covers everything we know about defensive gun use in the U.S.

Man shot, arrested after following woman home from casino, breaking in, assaulting her
A man was shot and later arrested after following a woman home from a casino and attempting to rob her, police said on Tuesday.
Abington police identified the man allegedly involved in the home invasion as Khabir Shepard. Authorities charged Shepard with robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and carrying a firearm without a license.
According to police, at around 1 a.m. Monday, authorities responded to the home on the 1800 block of Horace Avenue in Abington for a report of a man shot following a home invasion.
Once they arrived at the home, investigators met with a woman who told them she had just gotten home from the casino when an unknown man forced his way into her residence and pointed a gun at her. The man, identified by police as Shephard, allegedly pushed the woman on the ground and grabbed her purse from the dining room table.
Police said the woman yelled for help, waking up her son who was in the back bedroom. According to police, the woman’s son grabbed his legally owned gun and ran out to see what the commotion was. After the son saw Shepard had a firearm on him, police said, he fired two shots at him in defense of his mother’s safety.
The bullets hit Shepard in the back and arm, but he ran out of the home before collapsing on the front lawn, according to police.
Police then arrived at the home on Horace Street and took Shepard into custody. Authorities said a handgun believed to be Shepard’s was also found on the front lawn.
After he was arrested, authorities took Shepard to the hospital for his gunshot wounds. Shepard was arraigned and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where he’s being held on $250,000 cash bail.
“We do know the suspect was watching her, she was targeted,” Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy said. “This was not a random crime. They knew there was cash in that purse.”
Police are warning others to be aware of their surroundings, especially people who are transporting cash.
“I would say if you are at a casino and you win money, take some precautions. … There are bad guys who put a lot of work into this,” Molloy said.
Police are continuing to investigate whether anyone else was involved.

Did Kamala Just Implode Her Campaign With Another Disastrous Interview?
After reading the tea leaves, the Harris-Walz campaign discovered that it was a problem that Kamala wasn’t doing interviews, and so they basically decided to put her out there and hope for the best.
Well, it’s not going well, and I can’t help but wonder if this is why Trump’s been seeing momentum in recent polling. Frankly, I expect more movement in Trump’s direction after her latest interview on Wednesday with Stephanie Ruhle of MSNBC.
Seriously, this interview showed us (again) why Kamala was not the candidate that Democrats genuinely wanted to run after Joe Biden dropped out.
Ruhle pointed out that “prices are still high,” to which Kamala responded, “Yeah, I agree with you.”
When Ruhle pressed her on how she planned to combat price gouging without resorting to price controls, which could raise concerns about her principles, Kamala sidestepped the question entirely. Instead of providing a clear answer, she declared, “I am never gonna apologize for going after companies and corporations that take advantage of the desperation of the American people.”
This response was vague and failed to address Ruhle’s legitimate concerns. Kamala cited her experience as attorney general, alleging that a few companies exploit emergencies to jack up prices, but offered no evidence to support her claims or clarify her stance. “Yes, I’m going to go after them,” she reiterated, but her lack of specificity left viewers questioning the effectiveness of her plan to reduce living costs, including housing and daily necessities.
Kamala fails to explain how she plans on tackling "price gouging" without implementing price controls.

My favorite word salad of the evening was Kamala showing off what she learned from her Word-of-the-Day calendar. Check it out:
Some of the work is gonna be through what we do in terms of giving benefits and assistance to state local governments around transit dollars and looking holistically at the connection between that and housing and looking holistically at the incentives we in the federal government can create for local and state governments to actually engage in planning in holistic manner that includes prioritizing affordable housing for working people.
Kamala appears to have just learned the word "holistically." pic.twitter.com/lMpxWEg3aB
— Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) September 25, 2024
In case you weren’t keeping track, that was three uses of the word “holistic” in about 15 seconds.
When asked about how she’s going pay for her plans, Kamala simply choked.
“Expanding that child tax credit, or you mentioned housing before, giving that extra money for a first home. If you can’t raise corporate taxes or if GOP takes control of the Senate, where do you get the money to do that? Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?” Ruhle asked.
“Well, but we’re gonna have to raise corporate taxes,” Kamala replied. “And we’re gonna have to raise—we’re gonna have to make sure that the biggest corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. That’s just it. It’s about paying their fair share.”

In true Kamala style, that wasn’t an answer to the question. Instead, we got meaningless talking points and a hope that she’ll have a willing Congress that will enact her agenda. She clearly had no idea how to answer the question. In fact, her answer was so bad that Ruhle herself panned it after the interview aired.
“She doesn’t answer the question around—if the GOP is controlling the Senate if she can’t raise corporate taxes, where is she going to get the money from?” Ruhle said. “You know to expand the child tax credit and do all the things she wants to do. And she says, ‘We just have to do it.’ And that’s great and that’s a campaign promise, but-but-but the issue is, if it means we’re just gonna borrow again, then what we’re doing is we’re just never addressing the deficit.”
YIKES.
Stephanie Ruhle on her softball interview with Kamala: "she doesn't answer the question." pic.twitter.com/aPPkPGh4IV
— Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) September 25, 2024
It’s amazing to think that the Harris-Walz campaign thinks her doing these interviews is a net-positive compared to the radio silence we were getting before. She’s not helping herself with these interviews at all, and when Ruhle couldn’t even deny that she wasn’t answering the questions, that’s just… bad..
Homeowner confronts, shoots intruder after firearms stolen in Harrison Township
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKEF) –The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated burglary and shooting incident in Harrison Township on Monday, Sept. 23.
Deputies responded to the 5500 block of Brantford Road on a report of a burglary and theft of firearms at a residence. Upon arrival, the homeowner stated that multiple firearms had been stolen from the property.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24 deputies were called back to the same location after receiving reports of a shooting. The homeowner told authorities he had confronted two men who had entered his home.
During the confrontation, shots were fired, and the suspects ran.
Deputies later located the two men, one of whom was suffering from a gunshot wound. The injured man was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The suspect was later released from the hospital and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
During the investigation, deputies identified additional suspects and executed search warrants at multiple locations in Trotwood. A vehicle believed to be involved in the burglary was recovered, and several individuals were detained.
More word salad.

Perfect Biden-HARRIS Metaphor: Only Navy Oiler in ME Runs Aground, Springs Leaks.
If there ever was a need for a poster child for the neglect and indifference that characterizes the Biden-HARRIS administration’s attitude towards governance, someone now could easily slap up a picture of the USNS Big Horn.
The ship’s sad story has all the elements that are now bedeviling the Americans it serves thanks to the malevolent, arrogant, indifferent clowns who currently rule over us.
Almost a year ago, I wrote something I headlined, “US Maritime Woes: God Forbid We Go to War.” I was trying to shine a light on the utterly shameful, almost downright criminal neglect with which the Biden-HARRIS administration had treated our US Merchant Marine Fleet. It operates under the auspices of the US Maritime Administration (MARAD), which belongs to the Department of Transportation (aka Mayor Pete) – perhaps you’re already beginning to sense part of the problem if you don’t remember or haven’t read the column.
The administration has an “admiral” named as head of MARAD, one RADM Ann Phillips, who has performed exactly as damn near any other Biden cabinet secretary, particularly Mayor Pete – they haven’t seen her.
…Maritime matters were a priority during the GHW Bush years, but really got revved up during Trump’s term.
…During President Trump’s administration, Maritime Administrator Commandant Mark Buzby instigated a tidal wave of change. He allocated hundreds of millions of dollars for training ships, activated the entire ready reserve fleet in significant naval Turbo Activations, personally handled media inquiries, engaged with sailors nationwide, and attended major events as a headline speaker.
Biden’s current administrator, in contrast, has been so little engaged, she’s earned her own call-sign, and it’s not a compliment – “…who some call the Ghost Admiral.”
She’s still in the post.

Well, she is a politician

Biden-Harris Admin. Releases ‘One Year Report’ on Gun Violence Prevention Office
The White House on Monday released a one-year progress report on the activities of the Biden-Harris administration’s highly-touted Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP), and predictably the report claims, “Lives are being saved, but there is still so much more to do.”
“At the direction of President Biden and Vice President Harris, the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and the entire Biden-Harris Administration will continue to do the work of reducing gun violence and supporting survivors every day,” the report states.
The report may be read here.
Among the accomplishments listed are:
There does not appear to be anything specifically aimed at arresting and prosecuting criminals who commit the crimes, except for this: “The Department has now charged more than 600 defendants using BSCA’s new gun trafficking and straw purchasing laws. In November 2023, the U.S. Sentencing Commission finalized new sentencing guidelines that responded to the directive in BSCA (Bipartisan Safer Communities Act) to increase certain firearms penalties for straw purchasing, trafficking in firearms, and organized crime affiliation, and consider a decrease to account for straw purchasers with mitigating circumstances (e.g., any domestic violence survivor history).”
The report further notes the Biden-Harris administration has helped states and cities “establish and strengthen their own Offices of Violence Prevention.” This past May, the White House hosted a gathering of more than 80 leaders from city and local offices of violence prevention in over 50 cities, the report says.
There is also mention of the administration’s effort to assist state lawmakers in their effort to advance legislation to combat gun violence. This translates to pushing more gun control at the state level.
“At least 17 states have enacted new legislation, including a safe storage law in California, a gun dealer accountability law in Washington, a victims compensation law in Maryland, a ghost gun ban in Vermont, a background check expansion in Maine, and a permit to purchase law in Delaware,” the report states.
The report gives a strong indication of what Harris will do if she wins in November. Essentially the brakes will be off and the concern is that the effort, and maybe the authority, of the OGVP will expand.
I never thought I would see the day where El Salvador could claim the moral high ground and lecture America on Free Speech and Freedom, but here we are.
