Comment O’ The Day

This country created an army in Afghanistan that was dependent on resupply from helicopters that had enormous fuel and maintenance requirements. We never created the refueling infrastructure, and we used American contractors (who were withdrawn) to maintain the helicopters.

Any objective observer looking at the system we setup would conclude that it had one purpose: to enrich crony contractors who banked on our patriotism.

This is not a Red vs Blue thing. This is a government thing. Our government has been captured by enemies who have no interest in a restrained governance for the people and by the people. Their sole purpose is to extract dollars from us all, “rich” folk if necessary, to pocket. If they have to pay 30% or 40% back to the government, it’s no big deal. They’ll get even more grift next year.

Comment O’ The Day:

I don’t view gun grabbers as an enemy because of politics, I don’t think they’re evil because of politics. I don’t care about the (D) or (R) after your preferred candidate’s name.

I view them as an enemy because the only possible reason someone would want to disarm me is if they intend to do me harm. If they intend to interact peacefully with me, my level of armament doesn’t matter to them.  I’m a peaceful person and have never given anyone a reason to doubt that. The only people with a vested interested in my disarmament are those that intend to get violent with me and don’t want me to be able to fight back.

Don’t Be Surprised if Gun Owners Don’t Comply With Gun Control Laws

Media outlets love reporting the results of polling on hot-button policy issues, but they rarely tell you if the people supporting proposed legislation (especially when it’s restrictive) are the same people who would be affected by it. That matters in several important ways, not least of which is that getting a law passed is not the same thing as getting people to obey. Nowhere does that matter more than in the heated debate over gun laws.

“Fifty-seven percent of registered voters in the March 24-26 survey said there should be more laws regulating guns in the country,” The Hill reported earlier this year of the results of a Hill-HarrisX poll. That the story might be a little more complicated is hinted at later in the article where the numbers are broken down along partisan lines to reveal that 79 percent of Democrats support tighter gun laws, but only 36 percent of Republicans agree.

Why does the partisan divide on gun policy matter so much? Because gun ownership has traditionally been divided just as starkly along partisan lines, “with Republican and Republican-leaning independents more than twice as likely as Democrats and those who lean Democratic to say they own a gun (44% vs. 20%),” according to 2017 polling by Pew Research. That may indicate an ideological difference, or it may be evidence that familiarity with firearms encourages a more relaxed attitude towards their legal status, or both. Whatever the reason for the deep disagreement, enforcing “tighter gun laws” would require the cooperation of the people who actually possess them and oppose such policy changes.

Recently, though, the partisan divide on gun ownership seems to be shifting. More people from the left side of the political spectrum and members of Democrat-leaning constituencies have been acquiring them as a means for self-defense. They’ve lined up to make purchases at gun stores as faith in police and institutions erodes and society fractures. But even as their partisan identity becomes less predictable, gun owners and non-owners continue to disagree on policy.

Cannot get over Psaki’s constant reference to Americans “who want to leave” in order to imply that maybe they should be presumed to want to stay.
Once they are abandoned she will tell us they wanted to stay.

Psaki lies constantly, and is too stupid to do it well despite the practice.
That’s what I don’t get. Most people in that position are effective communicators with an air of professionalism. Who’d she shag to get the job? Because it certainly wasn’t merit.

Gun owner shoots man who pulled gun on him during fight

HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition after he threatened a gun owner with a gun during an argument Saturday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

Houston police said the shooting was reported at a place of business where the gun owner worked in the 8500 block of West Montgomery Road around 1 p.m.

Police said the 27-year-old man walked into the business and asked associates about the 59-year-old man’s whereabouts. Police said the 59-year-old man was outside on a work break when he and the 27-year-old got into an argument. Police said the 27-year-old pulled out a gun during the fight.

Then, the 59-year-old man told investigators that he pulled out a gun he owned and shot the man in self-defense, according to police. The man who was shot crashed his vehicle in an attempt to flee but then fled the scene on foot, police said. Officers later found him in the area and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, police said.

The gun owner left the scene of the shooting, but later returned to answer officers’ questions and give a statement, police said.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.

Man faces [a new] felony gun charge less than 48 hours after having gun case dropped in “restorative justice” court

Friday was a big day for 21-year-old Armando Rodriguez. Prosecutors wiped his slate clean by dropping four felony gun charges he was facing in Avondale “restorative justice” court.

Less than 36 hours later, police allegedly found an intoxicated Rodriguez sitting in a car with a gun on his lap at a Near North Side gas station. Prosecutors on Sunday charged him with a fresh felony gun charge.

When Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans announced the Avondale Restorative Justice Community Court last summer, he said the court would resolve conflicts through “restorative conferences and peace circles” instead of typical criminal court procedures.

“We have recognized for a long time that young people need a second chance,” Evans said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Rodriguez, who would become one of the court’s first participants, may have blown that second chance in record time.

NAACP: Racist North Carolina Gun Control Law Isn’t Racist Any More.

“This bill would remove one of the few protections that we currently have in place to stop dangerous people from buying handguns,” said Sen. Natasha Marcus, a Mecklenburg County Democrat.

[Governor Roy] Cooper’s office didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the bill. Attorney General Josh Stein, also a Democrat, asked legislators earlier this week to consider ”the serious threat to public safety this legislation carries and reject it.”

The bill, if it were to become law, wouldn’t end the requirement that sheriffs issue concealed weapons permits. …

The local pistol permit requirement began in 1919 during the Jim Crow era, and some bill supporters argue it’s still preventing law-abiding black residents from obtaining weapons. But a local NAACP leader spoke against the bill earlier Wednesday, and Marcus said such opposition is evidence to her that the current permitting system isn’t racist.

Blinken Is Asked, ‘Does the President Not Know What’s Going On?’ His Answer Is Troubling.

A really rough clip from Fox News Sunday, in which the Secretary of State totally side-steps a bruising question about the president’s basic awareness of key facts as his Afghanistan policy is reduced to smoldering rubble. The most charitable explanation I can think of here is that Blinken was so amped up to deploy his talking points about our alliances that he didn’t pay attention to the actual question put to him, which was a polite version of ‘does Biden have any clue about what’s actually happening?’ What we get in reply is boilerplate DC-speak, asking us to effectively ignore the extraordinary rhetorical beating the president and administration have sustained from some our closest allies in recent days. The less charitable explanation is that Blinken’s bloodless deflection was a deliberate avoidance of commenting on the Commander-in-Chief’s mental acuity. Watch:

Strange, the guy supposedly shooting at antifags is dressed in black, which is the standard antifa uniform. Just who is actually shooting at whom?

This has been done before in Europe, trust me.

Joe Biden is living in an alternate reality. Afghanistan proves it
Really, everything is just fine and dandy

President Joe Biden is living in an alternate reality. In his mind, everything is fine with our Afghanistan evacuation…it’s all going according to plan….we’re getting all Americans and loyal Afghans who want to leave out by August 31st….we didn’t think Taliban would take the country this quickly so there was really nothing anyone could have done to prevent this.

In Biden’s mind nothing is his fault. Our allies all think he’s a strong leader. Our adversaries aren’t causing problems. Thanks to President Biden’s courageous efforts America is back. None of this chaos will have no effect on America’s standing in the world. All people have to do is go to Kabul Airport and they will be evacuated.

While we may have some 5,000 combat forces at the airport, we don’t have the resources to rescue anyone.

No, we will not send American combat forces outside the airport perimeter to escort Americans to the airport.

The British, the French, the Indians and other nations are all sending troops into Kabul to rescue their citizens, but there is no need for the U.S. to do that.

Americans aren’t having any trouble getting through the Taliban checkpoints. Really, everything is just fine and dandy. If Americans, or our Afghan allies, don’t show up at the airport, we assume they really don’t want to leave.

That’s what is going through Biden’s brain.

The reality is the most powerful nation in the world is now reduced to relying on the good will of the Taliban to save Americans.

Russia and China have warned the world that the U.S. is an inevitable and irreversible decline.

I’ve been wracking my brain for historical comparisons to President Biden’s actions: Nero fiddling while Rome burned. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announcing his negotiations with Adolph Hitler had ensured and that “peace is at hand” as Hitler prepared to invade Europe. But the example I keep coming back to is Baghdad Bob, Saddam Hussein’s Minister of information who, during the first Iraq War in 2003, insisted Americans would have to surrender to the Iraq military or be burned in their tanks, while American forces surrounded him.

I pray Joe Biden wakes up to reality and becomes the president America needs today. But I fear that he, like Baghdad Bob, is incapable of it.

A couple of things

*****

I am not and have not ever said that COVID is a fake illness.

Where we need to be spending our scientific efforts is in discovering why some people suffer more than others, and why some have problems recovering fully. So why aren’t we doing that?

Because of the real problem. Some people in and out of our government have discovered that this crisis can be used to create fear, and with that fear, they can take more power and money for themselves. Now that they have that money and power, they are not likely to give it up.

From the writings of St. George Tucker, I’d say it was centuries long

A Decades Long Relentless Attack on the Constitution

For decades our own government relentlessly has attacked the Constitution.  Although gradual, there has been a continual wearing down of Constitutional limitations within government.  Under the current administration the radical left would like to turn the Constitution into a living document.  In that matter they could change whatever they wanted to.

They continue to disrespect the Constitution by removing the constraints that we conservatives hold dearly, the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, 5th Amendment, the 10th Amendment, etc.  The goal of the extreme left in the party is to elevate the US government into a national government with supreme authority controlled by the Democratic party.

For decades we have allowed the Congress who should be the enforcers of the Constitution to split ideologically.  We now have a Congress that has irreconcilable ideological views on what the Constitution means regarding the federal power.  If the liberal left gets their way the Constitution will change from limiting the power of the Federal government to empowering the Federal government over state’s rights.

Look at what is taking place in the country today under the Biden Administration.  Progressives are trying to link the Constitution with slavery incorporating the 1619 project claiming that the war with England took place because the English wanted to end slavery in the colonies which is nothing close to the truth. A  project disputed by numerous American historians.  Because of the 1619 project they have created Critical Race Theory and deceive the American people through Woke identity politics.

According to the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, conservative Republicans who supported Trump are White Supremacists and the biggest threat to our Democracy. They have stopped the XL Pipeline taken our energy independence away from us laying off thousands allowing gas and heating fuel prices to double in six months.

Government is intervening to control private property extending a moratorium on rent evictions ignoring the Supreme Court and all property owners who have to pay mortgages, taxes, utilities, and bills. They are pushing to eliminate the Electoral College leaving small states at the mercy of large liberal states like California and New York.

In Washington DC they turned the National Guard into a petri dish for their progressive social ideology.  Protect Washington, DC but let Portland, LA, Baltimore, Georgia, etc. burn. The damage to the Capital was minuscule compared to what took place in those cities.  They have allowed the Defund the Police movement and have let crime run rapid within every major urban center in the country.

They are putting Covid restrictions on US citizens while allowing open boarders with thousands of illegal migrants into the country testing Covid positive while using taxpayer dollars to pay for temporary housing and travel expenses into the interior of the US without any obligation to become US citizens. They seek to stack the Supreme Court.

If successful they will usurp the interpretation of the Constitution as we know it subject to any changes they desire. They seek to nationalize voting over state’s rights leaving taxpayers at the mercy of those in power in Washington.

The ruling elites currently in power seek to create a deep state in the direction of socialism and dependency on government.  Contrary to President Biden’s inaugural speech on unity the Democrats have escalated their politics of division.  The radical left in the party hate the American way of life and is determined to destroy the Constitutional foundation that makes America the country we cherish.  If you are a conservative we have to tell those in Congress this is not the right direction for the country.
