Republican Study Committee Memo Pushes Back on Biden Administration’s ‘Gun Grab’
The Biden administration recently rolled out a series of gun control measures via executive order, and Republicans are pushing back on the president’s “gun grab.” Biden recently said that “no amendment to the constitution is absolute,” insinuating that reforms to the second amendment are necessary.
The Republican Study Committee (RSC), a House GOP caucus currently led by Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), refutes the Biden administration’s rhetoric on gun control. Banks distributed a memo on Wednesday, which was first shared with Townhall, dismantling Biden’s gun control plans, from a ban on “ghost guns,” to Red Flag laws. From the memo:
1. Biden’s actions on pistol braces would take millions of the most popular firearms accessories on the market and make them illegal and their owners felons by executive fiat.
The ATF repeatedly told sport shooters and collectors everywhere these pistol braces were legal. The federal government must stop playing games with the Second Amendment rights of Americans, including the pro-gun community. Biden has a history of infringement going back to his days in the Senate.
This betrayal of the American people could force them to either spend $200 and place their gun on a registry, or risk becoming a felon and lose everything.
Stripping Americans’ freedom to customize their firearms won’t affect how criminals use firearms in crimes.
2. Homemade firearms, or “ghost guns,” are a long standing tradition in America. Our country was founded by free men with handcrafted firearms. The right to make weapons is the right to be free.
3. Democrats’ Red Flag Law proposals are an affront to the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments. No right should ever be stripped from free and law abiding Americans by an anonymous report with a low standard of evidence and no penalty for false reporting.
No one should be able to nominate their neighbor for a 4:00 am flashbang and a no-knock from the local SWAT Team.
The lack of transparent reporting, strong evidentiary standards, and penalties for false statements make Democrats’ Red Flag Laws a nightmare for due process.
4. It is disturbing that the Biden administration would nominate David Chipman to lead the ATF who not only made a career of advocating for the restriction of Americans’ liberties, but also was present and took part in the ATF’s failed operation at Waco in 1993.
We already know about his participation in Waco, but what don’t we know?
The president said it was “time for some action,” but promised that his series of executive edicts are just “initial steps” in implementing gun control measures.
“Sanctuary counties” Take Stand on Second Amendment
GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska — A growing number of Nebraska counties declare themselves sanctuaries for the second amendment saying Pres. Biden has put a target on the right to bear arms.
“Our government wanting to come for our guns is a deal breaker,” Barry Niedfeldt told the Hall County Board. “Law abiding citizens want to be on the same side as law enforcement.”
Sheriffs are giving their support to resolutions declaring counties as sanctuaries for the second amendment. Buffalo and Hall Counties are two of the largest, both voting unanimously……….
Fremont County declared ‘Second Amendment sanctuary county
RIVERTON, Wyoming — The Fremont County Commission and Sheriff have signed a resolution to make Fremont a “Second Amendment sanctuary county.”
Citizen Harold Donahue asked the governing board to adopt the resolution, which reaffirms the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms in defense of self or state.
The document also states that neither the county nor its sheriff will expend any resources or personnel to behave contrary to the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution………..
Arkansas legislators pass bills in opposition of gun regulations
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas. – The House Judiciary Committee passed out three bills on Tuesday that could have major implications for the state.
HB1386 would establish the Arkansas Second Amendment Liberties Safeguards Act and said no state agency shall enforce a law, statute, rule, or regulation regarding a personal firearm, firearm accessories, or ammunition that is made in Arkansas and stays in Arkansas.
The bill stated that the Attorney General shall defend a resident who is prosecuted by the Federal Government………….

We’re learning more about Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facility at Natanz. Initially, the event was reported as a cyber attack and cyber may, in fact, have played a part. However, explosives were the main component.
The Jerusalem Post reports that the attack was carried out through a device smuggled into the facility and detonated remotely. The explosives reportedly took out both the primary and backup electrical systems. (At Natanz, the electrical substation reportedly is 40 to 50 meters below ground.) The initial explosion is believed to have set off secondary explosions, causing even greater damage.
An attack last July was carried out with explosives smuggled into a centrifuge assembly facility at the site. The explosives reportedly were embedded in a heavy table that was brought into the facility. An Iranian official says that this time a desk was used.
I’ll go into no further detail than to observe that I consider the homeowner to have a kindly disposition in not having shot the crim in some other ‘extremity’.
Neighbors shocked after homeowner shoots naked intruder
LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The name of the suspect who broke into a house and was shot by the homeowner has been released.
It happened on Bulgar Road in Alkol Monday just before 2 a.m. Law enforcement say they received a call a naked man was trying to break into a home.
According to West Virginia State Police, Jeffery Roberts II, 28, had broken the door to the residence to get inside. Troopers say the homeowner shot Roberts once in the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
With all the past history of the same thing happening every time a demoncrap does crap-for-brains idiocy like this, I’m starting to wonder if ‘unintended consequences’ really fits anymore.
Thousands attend gun show in Jacksonville after Biden orders gun control actions
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thousands of people attended the North Florida Gun and Knife Show over the weekend at the Duval County Fairgrounds.
The two-day event was held after President Joe Biden announced a half-dozen executive actions to combat gun violence. The president also called on Congress to pass legislation to reduce gun violence after recent mass shootings in Atlanta, Colorado and South Carolina.
“Anytime something comes out of Washington and they say the word ‘gun,’ everything goes up,” said Victor Bean, the owner of Southern Classic Gun and Knife Shows.
This weekend’s event attracted firstcomers and gun enthusiasts.
“Just a good selection of firearms, and today is my birthday, so maybe I will get myself a good birthday present,” Chris Carroll, who lives in Clay County, told News4Jax on Sunday.
Mike Chance, a Jacksonville resident, said he was looking forward to looking at ammunition.
“Well, it’s millions and millions of dollars’ worth of guns and ammo,” Bean said.
More than 283 vendors and 386 displays were at the show in Jacksonville, according to Bean.
“Everybody wants the self-defense right now, and the high-capacity mags, of course, they are talking about legislation right now,” Bean said.
Missouri House advances bill for guns on buses, in churches
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri lawmakers are advancing a sweeping firearms bill that would allow concealed guns on public transportation and in churches.
The Republican-led House on Monday gave initial approval to the bill in a voice vote.
Currently, people need permission to bring firearms into places of religious worship. The bill would allow people with concealed carry permits to bring guns in churches, synagogues and mosques regardless.
Another provision in the bill would ensure that gun stores are considered essential businesses. That means state and cities couldn’t order them closed during emergencies such as the coronavirus pandemic.
Student Fires at Officers at Tennessee School, Is Killed
A student opened fire on officers responding to a report of a possible gunman at a Tennessee high school Monday, and police shot back and killed him, authorities said. The shooting wounded an officer and comes as the community reels from off-campus gun violence that has left three other students dead this year.
Police found the student in a bathroom at Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, a city about 180 miles (290 kilometers) east of Nashville, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director David B. Rausch said at a news conference. They ordered the student to come out, but he wouldn’t comply, and that’s when he reportedly opened fire, Rausch said. Police fired back.
The student died at the school, and the officer was taken into surgery after being shot at least once in the upper leg, authorities said. The officer was expected to recover, and no one else was hurt. It wasn’t yet clear why the student brought a gun to school or why he fired at officers.
One person dead, officer injured after shooting at a high school in Tennessee
One person has died and a police officer was injured after a shooting at a high school on Monday in Knoxville, Tennessee, police said in a news release.
Knoxville Police Department (KPD) said multiple law enforcement agencies responded to Austin-East Magnet High School for reports of a person “who was possibly armed in the school.”
When officers approached the person, shots were fired, police said.
A KPD officer was hit at least one time and taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was detained for further investigation.
“There are no other known gunshot victims,” police said in a statement.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be leading the investigation of the incident, the release said.
Following the shooting, a reunification site was set up at the baseball field behind the school, police said in a tweet.
“We are gathering information about this tragic situation and will provide additional information as soon as possible,” Bob Thomas, Knox County Schools superintendent, said in a tweet. “The school building has been secured and students who were not involved in the incident have been released to their families.
Facebook is ramping up its calls for government regulation of social media companies, which could give the company a leg up on its competitors.
Testifying at a March 25 House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg signaled his support for a number of legislative changes that would make social networking sites liable for illegal or illicit content published on their platforms. The proposed changes would increase the barrier to entry for new social media companies attempting to compete with Facebook by requiring them to build up units akin to Facebook’s Security and Safety teams that police misinformation……

‘Huge’ explosion rocks St. Vincent as volcano keeps erupting.
KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent (AP) — La Soufriere volcano fired an enormous amount of ash and hot gas early Monday in the biggest explosive eruption yet since volcanic activity began on the eastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent late last week, with officials worried about the lives of those who have refused to evacuate.
Experts called it a “huge explosion” that generated pyroclastic flows down the volcano’s south and southwest flanks.
“It’s destroying everything in its path,” Erouscilla Joseph, director of the University of the West Indies’ Seismic Research Center, told The Associated Press. “Anybody who would have not heeded the evacuation, they need to get out immediately.”………
BILL WOULD UP NFA TAX 50% AS FEDS STUDY TURNING PISTOLS TO SBRS
The very day that the Biden-Harris Administration moved to establish a rule reclassifying millions of braced pistols under the NFA, a Democrat lawmaker introduced a bill to bump their costs.
On April 8, U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., announced two new gun control proposals, H.R. 2426 and H.R. 2427. The former deals with making it illegal to give a firearm to someone who has had their state license to possess or purchase firearms revoked. The latter is termed the National Firearms Act Modernization Act and aims to increase the tax rates on NFA-regulated items such as machine guns, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and suppressors.
Noting that the tax amounts in the NFA, established in 1934, have not changed since enacted– for instance, $200 in 1934 would be the equivalent of $3,925 in 2021– Raskin’s proposal would immediately bump the rates by 50 percent. This would make the basic $200 tax stamps on most NFA transfers $300 moving forward. After that, the rate would increase in line annually with the federal cost-of-living adjustment.
At the same time that Raskin’s tax spike scheme was being unveiled, President Biden was announcing he would order the Justice Department to issue a proposed rule within 60 days, “to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.”
With an estimated 10 to 40 million stabilizing braces and similar components in the hands of otherwise law-abiding gun owners, Raskin’s move could theoretically see a fantastic $8 billion gleaned from the wallets of compliant Americans for items they already legally own. The lawmaker, whose chief claim to fame since joining Congress in 2017 was to serve as the lead impeachment manager for the second impeachment of President Donald Trump, signaled knowledge of the Biden plan when he debuted his NFA tax increase proposal.
“I applaud President Biden and Vice President Harris for announcing strong executive action to address the gun violence public health epidemic,” said Raskin in a release from his office.
Raskin’s bill has been referred to the Democratic-controlled House Committee on the Judiciary, where he sits as a member.
Nitro Zeus is apparently still operational
A day after Iran launched advanced centrifuges at Natanz nuclear facility, the site had been struck by an electrical “accident,” Iranian state media says. The electrical grid at the nuclear site crashed a day after the new centrifuges were plugged in, an Iranian spokesman claimed.
On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani unveiled the centrifuges meant for producing enriched uranium, a key component of a nuclear bomb, amid televised fanfare marking the so-called “national nuclear day.”
There are indications of an Iranian cover up of the incident considering that regime officials and state-run media did not reveal further details or the extent of the “accident.”
The incident may have been caused by yet another cyber attack at one of Iran’s “most secure” nuclear sites site. “Based on reports, it seems that the so-called accident was caused by a cyber attack,” the newspaper added. Around 2010, the site was hit by malware that destroyed centrifuges and dealt a major blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
David Hogg Quits Good Pillow Project Designed to Rival Mike Lindell’s MyPillow
Gun control advocate David Hogg announced that he is resigning from Good Pillow in order to focus on activism and his college studies.
In a series of tweets Hogg, 20, said he had stepped away from the pillow company that he planned to be “progressive competition” for MyPillow CEO and vocal conspiracy theorist, Mike Lindell.
On Saturday, Hogg thanked his Good Pillow partner William LeGate and said he would focus on his college studies and gun control activism.
He said: “Effective immediately, I have resigned and released all shares, any ownership and any control of Good Pillow LLC. I want to thank his partnership and wish him absolutely nothing but success with the future of Good Pillow.”
Hogg continued: “Over the next several months, I will be taking some time to focus on my studies in college and advance the gun violence prevention movement with March for Our Lives and personally.”
Effective immediately, I have resigned and released all shares, any ownership and any control of Good Pillow LLC. I want to thank Will for his partnership and wish him absolutely nothing but success with the future of Good Pillow.
The Harvard University student added he could not “give 100% to being a full time co-founder” and that he would “allow William to bring our vision to life without me.”
LeGate replied to Hogg’s multi-tweet statement: “It has been a pleasure working with you, David.
“I cannot wait to see what you do in the future and we will be sending you pillows from the first batch.”
No Good Pillow products have yet been sold by the new company. Pre-sales will be processed “very soon” with shipping “currently scheduled” to start in July, according to LeGate.
Woman shoots man breaking into her Lexington apartment
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A man is in jail after police said a woman shot an intruder at her home early Tuesday morning.
The woman called 911 around 3:30 a.m. and said she shot at a man who was breaking into her apartment in the 500 block of Hollow Creek Road, just off Russell Cave, Lexington police said.
About 15 minutes later, a man walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. Police said that man, 42-year-old Keith Jackson, was the same man involved in the incident at the apartment.
Jackson was arrested on charges of burglary and terroristic threatening.
He has since been released from the hospital and is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
One Of Two Men Shot After Forcing Way Into Area Home, Beat Residents
One of two men was shot after the duo allegedly forced their way into a home to confront the resident about a previous altercation.
Andre Fogo, age 32, and Rachain Wilson, age 28, both from the village of Monticello, were arrested on Friday, April 2, after New York State Police responded to a report of a shooting in Monticello, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
When troopers arrived on the scene they found that the victim, later identified as Wilson, had been driven to Garnet Health Medical Center in Catskill, for treatment of the gunshot wound, Nevel said.
Troopers located the vehicle as it arrived at Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill. An investigation revealed that both Fogo and Wilson forced their way into an apartment to confront the resident about a previous altercation, Nevel said.
Fogo and Wilson began beating the resident of the apartment. Another individual in the apartment fired his weapon and struck Wilson, he added.
Fogo and Wilson then fled the area. The individual who fired the weapon is a licensed gun owner and provided the state police with all proper documents.
Wilson was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
State police took custody of Andre Fogo and Rachain Wilson and charged both with burglary and remanded them to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of bail.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Village of Monticello Police Department, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Actually, it’s not “How will Joe Biden respond…“, it’s how will his masters tell him. And really, it’s not even that. It’s “How will his handlers load the TelePrompTer for him to read?”
BLUF:
How will Joe Biden respond to these three powder kegs? The more important question is this: Is his mind so trapped in last century’s geopolitics that he’s now overestimating American strengths, miscalculating other nations’ resolve, and stumbling headfirst into global conflagration?
War between Russia and Ukraine looks imminent. Israel and Iran are engaging in tit for tat maritime altercations. And China is ratcheting up provocative incursions into the airspaces and waters of Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines.
Any one of these regional conflicts is incendiary enough to ignite World War III (or, more accurately, each one is capable of transforming the cold, hybrid warfare of cyberhacks, technology thefts, financial markets manipulation, and perhaps even biological attacks that has been underway for many years into total and unrelenting global bloodshed), yet trading markets and news media are largely ignoring what’s unfolding. It’s as if the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 1999 Kargil War between nuclear-equipped India and Pakistan, and the Soviet and Nazi Invasion of Poland were all happening concurrently, and the world decided it was too busy enforcing face mask mandates upon religious congregants and following the turmoil of Khloe Kardashian to care.
Barbara Tuchman’s The Guns of August paints a vivid picture of European elites so mentally imprisoned by the mores and cultural etiquette of the nineteenth century that they failed to grasp the reality of the geopolitical chessboard before them or the likelihood of the monumental carnage of WWI. Something eerily reminiscent of those miscalculations is going on today.
Biden’s planned gun control actions do not pass muster
On Thursday, in a Rose Garden statement, Biden announced that he’s going to take myriad executive actions, all purporting to save Americans from gun violence. In fact, as is almost invariably true for leftists, just about everything he said was a lie, including “and” and “the.” In an epic segment on his show, Tucker Carlson reveals that the truth behind Biden’s lies is that he will disarm law-abiding Americans who oppose his political agenda. The purpose of this post is to show that, as a purely legal matter, he lacks the authority to carry out any of his threats.
The Second Amendment states simply:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
The Supreme Court, in 2008’s District of Columbia v. Heller, gives a masterful disquisition about the law and history behind the Second Amendment’s language. Suffice to say that we are all the militia and that the government has only the most limited power to interfere with our right to keep and bear arms. Rifles, even if they have cool attachments, are still “arms.”
While there are rights as fundamental as the Second Amendment – namely the other enumerated rights in the Bill of Rights – there are no rights that are more fundamental. Indeed, the Second Amendment is unique in have an entire amendment dedicated to it. The others are portmanteau amendments that gather several related doctrines under a single heading.
At this point, it’s important to point out that the Bill of Rights is not a set of liberties that the government graciously grants to the People. (I have capitalized “People” in this context because I’m using it in its constitutional sense of “We the People.”) If the government gives something to the People, it’s merely a privilege. When it comes to privileges, the government can dole them out and take them away again.
By contrast, the People have “unalienable rights” because they came from the Creator – that is, whether you’re religious or not, they came from a source greater than government.
