Disgraced fake newsman Dan Rather gets journalism awards named in his honor.

No one does more harm to journalism than people in journalism.

The Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin unveiled this week two awards honoring disgraced former CBS News anchor Dan Rather.

“The Dan Rather Medals for News and Guts honor the process of journalism as much as the end product,” the organization announced Wednesday. “They will be awarded to professional and collegiate journalists who go the extra yard — overcoming obstacles like stonewalling and harassment — to get the story that tells truth to power.”

A spokesperson for the Moody College of Communication confirmed in a response to the Washington Examiner that the awards are, in fact, real and that they are not part of an elaborate joke. Continue reading “”

Concerned Citizens Shout Down COVID Penalties at Sacramento County Supervisors Meeting.

Elected officials would do well to remember who pays their bills and put them into power in the first place

When you consider adjectives to describe what a county board of supervisors meeting is, exciting probably isn’t the first that comes to mind.

The Dec. 8, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors meeting, however, proved an exception to the rule when protestors began banging on the doors and demanding entrance into the building.

Cries of “This is a public meeting, you have to let us in,” can be heard on camera, spoken by an unidentified woman before board members begin to perk up.

Shortly thereafter, security personnel are called to quiet the crowd of nearly 30 who gathered outside the doors while a brief recess is called.

Why?

As the Sacramento Bee reported, the board members were debating an emergency ordinance that would have allowed Code Enforcement and law enforcement personnel to fine businesses $10,000 for disregarding COVID-19 lockdown regulations, while also fining individuals who flout the mandates $25 to $500 per offense. The Republicans really didn’t want Trump in 2016. Jeb Bush was their boy.

The Democrats wanted Hillary to be Obama’s heir….

Only the people wanted Trump. So when it came re-election time, there were powerful forces, on both sides, against him. This is why Trump had massive crowds of supporters. but lukewarm support in Congress and also the GOP. The Democrats connived to get rid of him by any means necessary, the establishment GOP didn’t lift a finger to help Trump either

All indications appear so.

Is the whole government in on this fraudulent election?

Every once in a while, most of us wind up in situations where we are completely baffled. It may be a simple situation, such as having looked literally everywhere for our reading glasses, and not having found them. Did they violate the laws of physics and just vanish? One knows that that cannot be true, and yet, as the old saying goes, once one has ruled out every logical possibility, only the illogical remains, no matter how unlikely it is.

Another situation is the one we are in now. Any informed person, with a modicum of sense, can see that the presidential election results, at best, are not to be trusted and at worst are rampantly fraudulent. Yet it seems that court after court, and investigative agencies one after the other, are turning a blind eye. Are they violating the laws of physics?

It turns out that the reading glasses did not disappear; they were in place, but pushed up, on one’s forehead all along. There was a logical explanation after all.

And sadly, it turns out that the courts and government agencies were not turning a blind eye. They have been, all along, part of the fraud. No matter how unlikely that seems, it is the only answer remaining.

In other words, we lost this battle a long time ago. As soon as Trump was elected president in 2016, the dark state realized that it had blundered. Its members had underestimated the degree of fraud it would need to defeat him. This time, they removed all possibility of failure, and even then, they needed vastly more fraud than even they had anticipated. Stuffing the ballot boxes was not enough; they had to call time out, for a few hours, so they could print yet more ballots. Indeed, they printed so many more that the sheer number of them made it obvious that they were cheating.

One might think they overplayed their hand, that they had used a sledgehammer to swat a mosquito. In doing so, they removed all reasonable doubt — the election was clearly rigged. But the dark state was so desperate that its operatives cared nothing for how it seems to the informed observer. Nothing. They just had to make absolutely sure that there would be no way that Donald Trump would be declared the winner.

The culprits were not merely the usual suspects — the Adam Schiffs and Eric Swallwells and their ilk. As profoundly and obviously corrupt as they are, they are weak. They could not have pulled this off without some heavyweight criminals in high places, including the courts, the premier law enforcement agencies, the intelligence bureaus, and the private sector communications companies.

It is certain that President Trump has been a wrecking ball against the dark state. He came at it with courage, resolve, and a level of acumen that the left had dangerously underestimated. The 2020 election was, as the establishment saw it, the last and final chance to remove the threat he poses to their power. Had the election been honest, Trump would have won so overwhelmingly that the Democrat Party, for one, would have become a thing of the past. Trillions of dollars were at stake worldwide, including in China. People go to war for that kind of money and that level of power.

It is unsurprising, then, that there was nothing, literally nothing, from which the dark state would refrain, in its attack — not even if it destroys the republic. This was the final banzai charge. It was do or die.

There is only one remaining backstop that can defeat the dark state. It is we, the people, the heirs of 1776. In that year, the Founders declared their concerns not only for themselves, but for their as yet unborn “posterity.” They cared about us. Will we care as much for our descendants?

They Stole It Fair And Square.

My goodness, Scott certainly stirred up our readership yesterday with his “limp noodle” confession about the election. At the risk of annoying many readers further, I’ll offer my observations on the matter which lead to my conclusion about why, and, more importantly, how to move on from here. In rank order of provocation:

The Democrats stole the election fair and square. Of course I don’t mean that literally; what I mean is that the election was effectively stolen months ago before any ballots were cast when legislatures (and sometimes governors and state courts such Pennsylvania) changed the voting rules to allow expanded mail-in voting, and the cascade of related vulnerabilities that followed. Republican legislatures that went along with these COVID-induced panic changes were foolish if not derelict in their duty. And the Trump campaign was negligent in not fighting against this months ago. President Trump was correct to warn about this outcome. Why wasn’t his campaign better organized to resist this months ago? (I know they did file a few lawsuits, a few of which had some effect, but it wasn’t enough.) I suspect the long-rumored campaign infighting and attention to other things distracted Trump’s senior campaign managers from paying sufficient attention to this.

Fraud is very easy in our election system. Remember that our elections are run by part-timers, amateurs, and volunteers on the county level in America—and we have over 3,000 counties. In such a diffuse system it is easy to conjure up a few dozen votes here, a few hundred votes there. Or worse. It is at once a glory of self-government in America that we actually conduct our elections in this decentralized way involving tens of thousands of citizen volunteers. It is also astounding that we use such a vulnerable and chaotic system to choose our president. Continue reading “”

This isn’t JEOPARDY!™. It’s not necessary to phrase this as a question.

BLUF:
When I see all these news stories and then listen to Feldman’s words, all I can think of is that Democrats are deliberately driving up gun violence so they can justify that “big, bold action” against guns. In that way, Operation Fast and Furious may have been a trial run for what Democrats now plan.

Are Democrats pulling an Operation Fast and Furious scam?

During Obama’s first term, his Attorney General, Eric Holder, implemented Operation Fast and Furious. The ostensible purpose was for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to catch straw purchasers who bought guns in America and sold them in Mexico. ATF blew it and taxpayer-funded guns vanished into Mexico. A secondary goal, though, was to try to convince Americans that guns are bad, to drive gun control laws. When I read about Democrats flooding cities with gun crime suspects, I wonder if they’re trying the same psychological trick again.

What caught my eye first was New York Post report on the fact that almost 90% of gun crime suspects are back on New York’s streets:

Nearly 90 percent of suspects arrested on gun charges this year are back on the streets, which the NYPD says has fueled a historic spike in shootings that have left more than 1,756 dead or wounded.

About 3,345 of the 3,793 perps arrested between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30 for firearms crimes — 88 percent — were let go, according to department data. Just 450 remain in jail, the NYPD told The Post.

Some New York City Council members also want to order police to avoid any contact with homeless people, many of whom are deranged and violent.

In Los Angeles, the new Soros-funded District Attorney, George Gascón (who spent almost ten years growing up under Fidel Castro) is unilaterally doing away with serious punishments for violent gun crimes, virtually assuring that the criminals will be back on the street.

Then there was the news that New York’s shooting rate is heading for a 14-year-high:

Sen.-Elect Cynthia Lummis Campaigns in Georgia, Warns Democrats Will ‘Punish’ Gun Owners by Taxing Guns

FORSYTH, Georgia — Sen.-elect Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) campaigned Monday afternoon as part of a tour to promote voting for Republicans in the Georgia Senate runoff election and talked with Breitbart News about how she sees Democrats threatening fundamental rights like the Second Amendment.

Lummis, after appearing at Meadows Gun Club alongside Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), Rep.-elect Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), and other Republican leaders as part of Club for Growth Action’s statewide “Save America” bus tour, spoke with Breitbart News about Democrat plans to tax guns as a means of penalizing those who own them.

“They will tax guns,” Lummis said. “They will tax every weapon as high as they can every year as a way to punish those of us who are gun owners.”

Lummis described incumbent Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and David Perdue (R-GA) as the country’s “last line of defense” because Republicans retaining the Senate majority hinges on at least one of them winning their runoff race on January Continue reading “”

Gun Maker Smith & Wesson Sues New Jersey to Block Subpoena

Democratic attorney general is seeking evidence of fraudulent marketing by firearms manufacturer, according to lawsuit

Smith & Wesson Brands Inc. one the nation’s largest gun makers, filed suit Tuesday to block a subpoena from the New Jersey attorney general seeking information about its advertising practices.
The subpoena, which was issued on October 13 according to the suit, is part of a broader legal push by gun-control advocates targeting the gun industry over its marketing practices.
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, who previously sued companies that sell parts used to make untraceable firearms called “ghost guns,” wants Smith & Wesson to turn over a swath of internal documents related to advertising guns in the state. The subpoena, a copy of which is included in the suit, includes requests for any marketing claims that Smith & Wesson guns are safer than others, that carrying a concealed weapon enhances a person’s lifestyle and that novices can use the company’s guns effectively for self-defense.
Smith & Wesson’s attorneys said in its complaint, filed in federal court in New Jersey, that the subpoena “seeks evidence of consumer fraud relating to advertising—but in reality, it seeks to suppress and punish lawful speech regarding gun ownership in order to advance an anti-Second Amendment agenda that the Attorney General publicly committed to pursue.”
The gun manufacturer wants the court to stop the state from enforcing the subpoena.

Biden, Harris Use Sandy Hook to Call for ‘Gun Reforms,’ Meaning Control

Using the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on Monday called for “gun reforms” to honor the victims of the 2012 shooting that left 20 youngsters and six adults dead.

It’s what Second Amendment activists call “camo speak” for more gun control. Anti-gun Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal chimed in, according to Fox News, declaring the Sandy Hook victims should be honored with “positive action” and he expects the incoming Biden administration will “redouble the efforts against gun violence.”

Biden’s legitimacy as the next president got a boost from Republican Senate Majority Mitch McConnell, who congratulated the former vice president by declaring the Electoral College “has spoken.” The Drudge Report blared this headline: “Season Finale: McConnell Finishes Trump.”

Biden and Harris insist they want “common sense” gun “reforms,” according to the Associated Press. It all translates to the same thing, according to grassroots gun rights activists: More restrictions on law-abiding citizens that will ultimately not prevent a single violent crime involving a firearm.

Sandy Hook was the work of a single mentally-deranged individual, Adam Lanza. Prior to the shooting, Lanza murdered his mother, took her guns from a safe and headed to the school in her car. While a Connecticut news organ, The Day, editorialized for additional gun controls, a reader who signed in as Keith J. Robbins reacted.

“The Day again gives lip service to the mental health issue, the actual reason for all the incidents mentioned was a failure by the liberal mental health system,” Robbins wrote. “Newtown happened because a parent enabled a child to commit murder, she paid the ultimate price for her failure. The child should have been institutionalized, as has been documented multiple times…The Day fails to address the continued carnage in Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and we are beginning to see it in New York, those communities have extensive gun laws and continue to be run by democrats. As we see emboldened criminals, because of a lax if non-existence criminal justice system, the Second Amendment becomes more prevalent for law abiding citizens.”

The Day wants to extend the background check period from three to ten days. It wants so-called “universal background checks” for all gun transfers, except between family members—a mandate that would not have prevented Sandy Hook, since Lanza killed his mother and used her guns—and a ban on so-called “assault rifles” and original capacity magazines.

The Day editorial claims these are “some sensible reforms that are popular with the American public, including many gun owners.”

The only thing that could derail Biden’s gun control schemes would be a Republican victory in the two Senate races slated Jan. 5 in Georgia. If incumbent Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler retain their seats, the GOP will remain in control of the Senate and provide a barrier.

Just to indicate the moron level intellect of one of the demoncrap candidates for Georgia Senator.

Democrat Georgia Senate Candidate, Jon Ossoff, believes that Federal ICE agents should verify good wages and working conditions for illegal immigrants. Although most of his positions are the typical of a white, liberal, trust fund Socialist, this one truly out there. Ossoff is not famous for his positions as much as for losing every time he runs.

I know this Georgia Senate race provides a real stumper for Republican voters in the Peach State. Vote for the Republican candidates (Loeffler and Perdue) and hope to stop the Democrats from totally destroying our country. Or, don’t show up and let Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock aid the enemy in finishing off our move towards Socialism. I can argue it both ways. By the way, Trump won, no matter what the Courts, Electoral College and Democrat Media Industrial Complex say, in my humble opinion.

Let us take a look at Ossoff’s position that ICE agents should not detain illegal immigrant workers, but should ensure that they have good wages and working conditions. From the Washington Free Beacon:

A resident asked Ossoff how he would deal with people who were illegally brought to the United States as minors. The Democrat went on to chastise the “brutal conditions” facing workers on Georgia farms, arguing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents should be used not to detain illegal immigrants but rather to verify that such workers are treated well.

“When federal agents arrive at one of these farms, it should be to make sure people are being paid the minimum wage, working in humane conditions,” Ossoff said at the Sunday event, adding that the U.S. should “show humanity and compassion for those who are part of our society but living in the shadows.”

Jon Ossoff totally whiffed there. Instead of tackling a valid question on the problem of minors brought into this country, he went into a diatribe on working conditions and pay for adults who willingly come into our country in contravention of our laws. That makes them criminals and criminals, in order to not get caught, necessarily live in the shadows.

Why didn’t Ossoff want to comment on the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) kids? Possibly because he has not been told what to think about that subject yet. Or, maybe he is hoping that the approximately 425,000 illegal immigrants living and working in Georgia will vote for him and guarantee a Senate victory. He seems more of an open borders guy, even though he claims to want policies that allow for more immigration AND strengthen our borders, whatever that means. More of that amorphous, liberal talk.

Look folks, I have got to be totally honest here. Jon Ossoff makes me think of someone who was in Student Government starting in third grade. I watched a video interview between Katie Couric and Ossoff. My biggest take away is that Ossoff has an epically punchable face. You can watch the video here. He told Couric that one of his greatest strengths was his youth. I kid you not. This guy has no depth whatsoever. I’ll tell you more about that later.

Jon Ossoff bought an existing documentary film firm and Katie Couric called him an award-winning investigative journalist. That’s kind of like Andrew Cuomo winning an Emmy for his masterful handling of Covid.

In the Student Government type arena, Ossoff claimed to have read a biography of the now late John Lewis and asked him for a job as an intern in his Atlanta office. Jon Ossoff’s greatest claim to fame, beside losing elections, is that he worked for Representative Hank Johnson, as a national security aide for five years from 2007-2012.

Why is this important? Remember I told you that Jon Ossoff had no depth? Well, his job was to brief Representative Johnson on economic policy, defense, intelligence and foreign affairs. It was in 2010, with Ossoff as his advisor that Hank Johnson worried that Guam would tip over. Remember?

Poor Admiral Willard. Jon Ossoff advised Hank John on defense, intelligence and foreign affairs for five years! You have to be dumber than a box of rocks to stay on the job for more than a day. There is a tree stump in Okefenokee Swamp with a higher I.Q. than Ossoff.

So go vote for David Perdue Georgia. Even on the train to Socialism, we cannot let a nimrod like Ossoff anywhere near the levers of power.

Loser and stupid is not a good look.

Florida burglar climbing into home killed by falling window

A freak accident involving a falling window killed a Florida burglar, according to a report.

It happened Saturday during the attempted burglary of a home in Lehigh Acres, NBC 2 Fort Myers reported.

Jonathan Hernandez, 32.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the window killed Jonathan Hernandez when it slammed down on him as he was climbing through it.

The incident report says the window came down on the 32-year-old man’s neck, the station reported.

Deputies found him dead when they arrived on the scene.

Tyrone Lane told the station he and Hernandez were friends. He questioned the account of what happened.

“He is not a burglar,” he said “He’s not a thief. He’s not a bad guy. That’s not what he is.”

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in central California after a bizarre shooting that began with three friends drinking and shooting each other with rubber bullets for fun, authorities said.

Fresno County Sheriff deputies were called Sunday night about a person being shot and seriously injured at a home in Tollhouse, Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said.

Deputies and emergency personnel performed CPR, but Bradly Smith, of Clovis, died a short time later, the Fresno Bee reported.

A friend identified as Elvis Hernandez, 30, of Reedley, fired a shotgun blast at him. Hernandez has been arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the incident, Botti said. Continue reading “”

Dr. Rand Paul Introduces HEMP Act to Relieve Unnecessary Constraints on Hemp Industry, Provide Transparency and Certainty

Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) continued his efforts to address Kentucky hemp farmers’ concerns with federal overreach and bring clarity, transparency, and certainty to regulation by introducing the Hemp Economic Mobilization Plan (HEMP) Act of 2020.

In response to concerns raised by Kentucky hemp farmers and processors, Dr. Paul’s HEMP Act would change the legal definition of hemp to raise the THC limit from 0.3% to 1%. Currently, any hemp crops testing above 0.3% have to be destroyed.

The legislation would require testing of the final hemp-derived product instead of the hemp flower or plant itself, as the 15-day window for testing the hemp flower or plant does not take potential testing backlogs, lack of personnel to collect samples, harvesting time, or environmental factors that farmers cannot control into account. I don’t think the city council understands that if there is no Police ‘interaction’ , the citizenry will handle whatever problems arise, and it won’t be pretty. Then again, maybe they do……………

NYC Seeks To Bar Police From Any Interaction With Homeless.

Having already slashed the budget for the NYPD, the City Council in the Big Apple is looking to enact even more restrictions on the actions of the police department. Multiple members of the Council have drafted a bill that would bar the police from any interaction with homeless individuals on the streets. That would include both responding to complaints about possible criminal behavior and outreach efforts where officers attempt to get the homeless into shelters. To say this is going too far is an understatement. Even the notoriously liberal Mayor is opposed to the measure. (NY Post)

The NYPD would be prohibited from conducting any outreach to New York’s homeless under a new bill before the City Council, handcuffing cops from protecting municipal workers on the frontlines of the crisis — a move opposed by police unions and Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“Experiencing homelessness on the street or on the subway is not a crime,” insisted Councilman Stephen Levin (D-Brooklyn) during a Monday hearing of the council’s general welfare committee. “I hope that this bill will ensure that there is less harm done by limiting the involvement of police in these interactions.”

Levin, who reps areas including Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg, is co-sponsoring the bill along with Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal, a Democrat representing Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The insinuation in this bill is obvious. The liberals on the Council who have been pushing to defund, if not entirely abolish the police are suggesting that the cops can’t be trusted to deal with the homeless or are somehow looking to abuse them. This flies in the face of the reality on the streets, where the city’s Department of Homeless Services has routinely partnered with the NYPD and relied on them to provide officers to accompany workers when engaging the homeless. This is done not only to ensure that help is provided to the homeless but to protect the workers in case any of the people they are trying to help become violent, as often happens when they are engaging with people having mental health issues.

Insurers balk at covering Portland businesses; brokers say downtown upheaval has made carriers wary

Eric Murfitt watched helplessly from a live security feed as looters trashed his downtown clothing store, Mercantile, during a riot on May 30. Murfitt said the business suffered $1 million in losses due to the break-in and had to file an insurance claim to stay afloat.

But in November, Murfitt was informed that his insurance carrier would not be renewing the store’s policy. Nearly a dozen other insurance companies declined to even offer Mercantile a quote.

So earlier this month, Murfitt settled for a policy that nearly quadrupled his premium, had a significantly higher deductible, included a much smaller cap on coverage related to robbery and excluded any property damage related to civil unrest.

Commercial insurance premiums were rising even before the coronavirus, while coverage was decreasing. The pandemic exacerbated those trends. Premiums for commercial property and casualty insurance increased by an average of almost 11% in the second quarter of 2020 , according to the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers.

But brokers say insurance companies have become particularly wary about covering Portland businesses, especially those downtown, as ongoing protests have given the city a reputation for upheaval and led to a spike in vandalism and destruction, often committed by a small group of people. Brokers say this trend could be transitory and better coverage opportunities might resume quickly if the level of risk perceived by insurance companies changes. Continue reading “”

[Well Regulated] Polymer80 is just the beginning

Something is afoot that has likely been in the works for a long time. Let’s wind back the clock to mid-June when Congressman Gaetz claimed that there was a secret plan within the ATF to reclassify pistol braces as stocks. Some people panicked. Some dismissed it as a politician chasing clout. Most simply took in the information and waited to see what would come of it.

In October, it was revealed that the ATF had issued a cease and desist letter to Q regarding the proprietary brace featured on the Q Honey Badger pistol. The reaction to this letter was much the same as that to the Gaetz statement, albeit with a bit more seriousness as this time the ATF had actually taken action. Less than three weeks ago, Ammoland’s John Crump published an article on how documents procured through a FOIA request indicated an effort within the ATF to attack SB Tactical over those braces which had not been submitted for formal review, but still were advertised as using “ATF approved” technology (two rubber flaps fastened with a velcro strap). Due to the letter’s age, most of the concern in the gun community dissipated fairly quickly, but some anxiety still remained. Continue reading “”

Eating Our Own: The Fine (Not So) Young Cannibals of the Gun Industry

Whether through articles or posts on social media the gun industry has an unfortunate tendency to readily and joyously eat its own. Toss a proverbial hot topic into the ring and suddenly it’s lions versus Christians with the lone Christian being represented by some poor guy who was “just saying.”

It’s a topic worth addressing even though it will cause more even kvetching and whining in the comment section (commonly-shared saying among writers: never read the comment section). Addressing this topic at all is likely to be called “whining”, “playing the victim card”, or – my personal favorite – “virtue signaling.”

There’s also the opposite end of the spectrum. There we have those who loudly proclaim we as an industry are being divided by the use of “divisive” speech. This often involves the originator of the discussion having asked a question or somehow challenged the status quo. You don’t dare rock the boat, because that makes you “part of the problem.”

What follows are my two cents. They’re sentiments I like to believe are shared by most of us here at TTAG. If my bluntness about this state of affairs offends you, sorry, but I’m not sorry. Continue reading “”
