I think this is simply  an exposure of what we’ll find is the – legalized – corruption that goes right along with the .gov gravy train.

People can disagree over the scale of the corruption, whether it reflects only on Hunter and James or on Joe as well, but it’s unequivocal that influence peddling has been a steady pursuit for the Bidens.

Even as the corporate media downplays recent revelations about Hunter, The New York Times reported new documents from Tony Bubulinski that “show that the countries that Hunter Biden, James Biden and their associates planned to target for deals overlapped with nations where Joe Biden had previously been involved as vice president.”

“The records make clear that Hunter Biden saw the family name as a valuable asset, angrily citing his ‘family’s brand’ as a reason he is valuable to the proposed venture,” the Times noted. That name trading seems to have been explicit in some cases, as even Ben Smith of the Times tweeted on Tuesday.

The Chinese business license that brought the new fund into existence was issued by Shanghai authorities 10 days after the trip, with Hunter Biden a member of the board.

Hunter Biden took Air Force Two to meet with a Chinese banker who also happened to be his business partner, and 10 days later their fund’s license was approved, but we’re supposed to believe it was a “social visit”? And we’re supposed to believe the veep had no clue his son was meeting with business partners on their trip to China?

Crucially, we know Joe Biden lied about his knowledge of Hunter’s overseas business. There is, unfortunately, even some evidence he received financial benefits from it. The lie alone is reason for suspicion.

2A Groups Praise Barrett Confirmation, Prep SCOTUS Challenges

Second Amendment organizations are hailing the confirmation of Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett as a huge step towards the Court once again taking up a case dealing with the right to keep and bear arms. We discussed a few of the Second Amendment-related cases percolating in the judicial system in a post this morning, but on today’s Bearing Arms’ Cam & Co, we dig a little deeper into the issue with the Second Amendment Foundation’s executive vice president and founder, Alan Gottlieb.

Gottlieb says that Barrett being on the bench at the Supreme Court should provide the votes necessary to start hearing Second Amendment cases once again, and he says that everything from bans on so-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines to the right to carry to the restoration of rights is currently being litigated in lower courts.

Gottlieb’s not alone in his optimism that Barrett’s confirmation will breathe new life into Second Amendment cases at the Supreme Court. The Firearms Policy Coalition’s president Brandon Combs is chomping at the bit to get before the Court.

“FPC’s legal team, the largest and most impactful of its kind in the nation, is already hard at work on some of the most important Second Amendment lawsuits in the country, and is actively preparing dozens more,” said Combs. “As Justice Thomas has explained, the Second Amendment is not a second-class right. We are eager to see the Supreme Court grant certiorari in an appropriate case, reaffirm that the Constitution’s text means exactly what it says, and once more clarify that recalcitrant lower courts cannot continue to apply the interest balancing tiered scrutiny the Court expressly rejected in Heller.”

ATF Creating Pistol Brace Ban Through the Back Door

An estimated 700,000 owners and users of a popular shooting accessory in the U.S. may soon be left in the dark as to whether their makeshift pistols are legal thanks to a non-public change in federal policy.

International Sportsman reported in June on a long-anticipated move by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to crack down on a loophole that allows owners of AR-15s, AK-47s, and other automatic and semi-automatic rifles to modify their rifles into pistols by use of what’s known in the industry as a “pistol brace.”

Now it appears, based on several sources, the ATF is making that move on the downlow — a loophole to close another loophole (see analysis below).

To recap the situation: In 2012 the pistol brace was introduced to the firearms market as a temporary buttstock solution. It proved effective for those wishing to avoid the otherwise-required federal paperwork, or who prefer a way to legally conceal automatic and semiautomatic firearms. The popularity of pistol braces soared and became a favorite among gun owners with disabilities who find it difficult to handle and fire a rifle of conventional length.

ATF wavered for years on exactly how to approach this innovation. From our June article:

ATF has maintained for years that 26 inches is the maximum length for a concealable firearm. Barrels, according to ATF’s rules, must be 16 inches or longer with a buttstock, or it falls under the National Firearms Act (NFA) restrictions for automatic guns. Without a buttstock, an AR-15 pistol (for example) may have any barrel-length.

The introduction of the pistol brace in 2012 created a loophole in the law — being not necessarily a buttstock but at the same time functioning as one. When Sig Sauer unveiled their new SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, it was intended to be strapped around the forearm, improving stability when firing. Many pistol owners saw an opportunity to instead use the brace like a stock, pressing it up into the shoulder and using it as a cheek rest like with a rifle.

This led to a string of ATF rulings. In 2014, ATF nixed “shouldering braces,” arguing a brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle. The bureau doubled down in 2015 at the end of the Barack Obama presidency, clarifying “illegal shouldering.”

At the onset of the Trump Administration, however, the ATF reversed much of its stance and allowed for the use of braces in “situational,” “sporadic,” and “incidental” uses.

In June, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz sounded the alarm that the ATF was poised to begin regulating pistol braces without the purview of Congress or even the White House. Gaetz, while praising the Donald Trump Administration for its many defenses of the Second Amendment, also pointed out that the same administration banned “bump stocks” to answer a swell of criticism stemming from gun control activists. He urged constituents to contact their Congressmen and Senators in response, as many gun-rights advocacy groups have done.

So far, the ATF has not messaged on any changes to its interpretation of what constitutes a pistol, though firearms enthusiasts are already spreading the word.

The Military Arms Channel, referring to a post from regulatory legal firm Wiley Rein LLP, criticized the yet-unspoken change coming from ATF.

“… [I]t is something you should take very seriously because of recent actions by the BATF that will affect any owner of AR15 pistols, AK pistols, HK pistols, etc.,” the blog noted via its primary Facebook Page. “Yes, this means your Saint AR pistol or your Draco. That’s exactly what the ATF is targeting.”

Health Care Workers Help Drive Gun Surge, New Study Says

When the coronavirus hit American shores, nurses and doctors stocked up on guns, a new study reports.

Researchers at New Mexico State University and the University of Toledo found that being a health care provider was one of the strongest predictors of buying a firearm during the first few weeks of the coronavirus pandemic. Sixty-seven percent of people who reported buying a gun during the pandemic also reported being health care professionals.

“One of the things we should see, in my limited view, is these are people who are civilians who are not criminals and they have seen a lot of unrest in the past six months,” New Mexico State University professor Jagdish Khubchandani told the Washington Free Beacon. “And they want to be on the front foot with their own safety.”

Khubchandani said this surprising finding becomes more understandable when considered alongside the study’s other main finding: Gun-ownership demographics as a whole have shifted during the pandemic.

Gun buyers were more likely to be younger, more urban, more female, and less white. As the gun-owning demographic diversifies, then, it starts to look more like the demographics of health care, one of the country’s largest industries.

“America now has more job opportunities in health care,” Khubchandani said. “Almost 15 percent of Americans today have a job in health care. And as that demographic has changed, so has the gun-owning demographic, and they’ve intersected.”

Khubchandani pointed to two recent surveys finding that between a quarter and half of physicians own guns. He also noted recent real-world examples of health care professionals lining up at gun shops to purchase guns. Continue reading “”

Hundred Plus Miles Of New Border Wall Seeing Positive Results In Western Arizona.

Construction workers are buzzing with work along a 126 mile-long portion of the United State’s southern border with Mexico, as a wall is being erected with the goal in mind of reducing the number of illegal immigrants able to cross over into our country. An already completed section of the wall located in Arizona is said to be delivering impressive results. border wall positive results

The back and forth between smugglers and Border Patrol continued after Porvaznik took over the region in 2015. Arrests of illegal immigrants doubled. During last year’s border crisis, up to 60% of his agents were so overwhelmed with illegal immigrant arrests, half of whom were families, that taking care of detainees took up more time than their normal law enforcement duties. The “hodgepodge” of existing barriers was not cutting it.

The new wall is comprised of six-inch square posts filled with concrete. A gap of four inches was left between each post to allow agents to see through the fence when looking straight at it. The only downside to agents is that a five-mile stretch of the border will not get new wall because the land belongs to the Cocopah Reservation. This area is where agents are seeing the most illegal immigration right now, an indication of the new wall’s success at preventing illegal entries.

Agents suspect that when the coronavirus pandemic passes and they are no longer able to immediately return illegal immigrants south of the border, as they have been able to, more will attempt to sneak into the U.S. With so many miles of new wall in place, Porvaznik thinks his agents now actually stand a chance at holding the line.

“We’re much better positioned right now to deal with that traffic when they do come than we have been in the past,” he said.

Liberals have been telling us that these sort of fences will not work to keep folks out of the country, but that’s obviously not the case. Sure, individuals bent on crossing the border illegally will somehow manage to find a way, but many will also be discouraged by the difficulty posed by this wall. And if they try, the fence will slow them down, giving our border agents more time to “greet” them.

President Trump promised that at least 400 miles of the wall will be built by the end of 2020. Per DHS, as of October 19, 371 miles of the wall has been built.

In and of itself, that will reduce the strain on border patrol officers and enable them to better protect it without feeling outnumbered or outmatched. Trump was right about the wall, just like he’s been right about so many other issues.

Church Leaders Sell Their Souls to the Democratic Party.
Evangelicals stumble over themselves to endorse a political party and a candidate openly against life

Over the past couple of months, while the world has been distracted by all-things-COVID-19, a very important bit of news slipped under our radar and went virtually unnoticed. The contemporary church sold its soul to the Devil for a pot of political porridge.

Consider the evidence.

Last week “pro-life” evangelicals across the land started stumbling over themselves to endorse a political party and a candidate who is openly against life and against evangelicals.

At the same time, pastors, priests and laymen too numerous to count continued to trample each other in a parade proclaiming that some lives matter but others don’t (especially the lives of Donald Trump and his supporters).

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, otherwise known as Rome, the vicar of Christ pontificated that “Trust… in the role of international organizations (apparently not Christ?) … is indispensable for building a peaceful world.”

And off to the side of all this neo-Marxist goose-stepping stands the Congregation of Critical-Race Racists who, shamelessly shame all who, to their shame, are born of a wrong race, for which they are ashamed.

This past January, the Christian Research Center of Arizona Christian University surveyed 2,000 adults in the United States from four major religious groups: Evangelicals, Pentecostals and charismatics, mainline Protestants and Catholics.

In this survey, respondents were asked about their views on 51 topics, including marriage, absolute truth, the sanctity of human life and the authority of the Bible.

While there were notable differences among the four Christian traditions, “The most startling realization,” said research director George Barna, was “how many people from evangelical churches are adopting unbiblical beliefs.”

Mr. Barna goes further to clarify his concern.

According to his research, 52 percent of evangelicals now say they do not believe in objective moral truth or that the Bible is inerrant and trustworthy in all its content. Seventy-five percent believe that people are basically good instead of basically sinful. Forty-three percent believe Jesus sinned during his time on earth. Fifty-eight percent believe that the Holy Spirit is merely a symbol rather than a person. And a majority of respondents do not believe in the exclusivity of the Christian faith.

Other findings from the survey include that 44 percent of evangelicals believe the Bible’s teachings on abortion are ambiguous, 40 percent do not believe human life is sacred, 34 percent do not believe marriage is between one man and one woman and 43 percent do not think that God has a unified purpose for all people.

Yes, this political season has shined a spotlight on some very ugly facts concerning America’s heart and soul, and among them is this — Christianity in the United States is now in the midst of great reversal of its Great Awakening.

Under the banner of being “woke,” the church is now being “de-formed” rather than reformed. Two thousand years of ecclesial teaching is now being dumbed down and redefined, and those charged to be the guardians of orthodoxy now appear to be the very ones who have unlocked the door to rampant heresy. Today’s Evangelical leaders are no longer known for imparting the good news of the euangelion but rather for being hell-bent on selling-out the Gospel and its creeds all for the sake of the thin gruel of political popularity and being culturally in vogue.

While this is all very sad, we must remember it is also no surprise.

St. Paul warned of it in his second letter to Timothy:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of self … boastful, proud … unholy … conceited … having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people … They are men of depraved minds …; their folly will be clear to everyone … Imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned … and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus …”

Since the very first days of the church we have been told that this falling away would come. But we’ve also been told something else. There will always be a remnant. There will always be those who “continue in what they have learned from the Holy Scriptures” and against whom the gates of hell cannot prevail. Christ promised it, and we can take his promises to the bank.

As my friend, Jim Garlow has said, “What a wonderful time to be alive!” The battle lines are clear. There is little ambiguity. In the days ahead, take courage. Stand strong. We’ve read the end of the book. We know who wins. Not even hell itself can defeat the obedient and faithful Body of Christ — His one true church

Sorry, there will be no return to normalcy under Joe Biden

As the presidential campaign enters its final phase, one of the messages of the Biden campaign is that putting him, a 47-year veteran of national politics, into the White House will return us to something approaching normal. With Biden in charge, all the Trump craziness will expire, and things will be safe, sane and familiar.

In fact, there’s no chance of this happening. If Biden wins, things won’t go back to “normal.” You probably won’t even hear less from Donald Trump. And in a lot of areas, like foreign policy, it turns out the establishment’s version of normal wasn’t all that normal anyway.

Many of my lefty friends want Biden to win not so much over policy as because they have a visceral reaction to President Donald Trump. They hate the sight of his face, the sound of his voice, even the mention of his name. Electing Biden, they expect, will sweep Trump off the national stage.

But will it?

We are a long way from normalcy

Trump was big on the national stage long before he was president. Why would he go away after the election is over? He’ll still have tens of millions of (probably angry) followers, deep pockets and a huge megaphone.

There has already been some talk of Trump starting his own television network to rival Fox News, and/or his own social media platform — the latter made more plausible by the heavy censorious hands of those running Twitter and Facebook — and I suspect that Trump would regard a 2020 loss as a setback, not a defeat.

 Grover Cleveland came back to win a second term after losing the White House, Trump might reason. Why not me? He’ll probably hold campaign-style rallies around the country starting right after the election.

And the deep toxicity of national politics, which grew worse after the 2016 election but which has been brewing at least since the turn of the millennium, is not going to go away. In fact, a lot of what we’re hearing from Biden supporters suggests that it will get worse under a Biden administration.

Democrats are already calling for a Biden administration to pack the Supreme Court by adding new justices until Democrats have a majority, to pack the Senate by admitting Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., as states, and even to establish a “truth and reconciliation commission” in which Republicans will be dragged in front of the public and forced to confess the error of their ways. And, of course, abolishing the Electoral College. None of that is normal.

COVID-19 won’t simply disappear

Of course, maybe a “return to normal” really just means an end to worries about the coronavirus, which has in fact turned the world upside down. Biden is running commercials suggesting that tens of thousands of deaths from coronavirus are Trump’s fault.

That’s a pretty weak argument, given that Europe is doing no better than the United States, and arguably is doing worse.

Politicize things as much as you want — and Biden, who accused the president of xenophobia after Trump’s January order banning flights from China, and continued to hold mass rallies for two weeks afterward even after many states declared emergencies, is on thin ice here in claiming Trump acted too slowly — the coronavirus isn’t going away no matter who is in the White House on Jan. 21. It’s an aspect of nature, over which politics has very little influence.

So forget talk of a return to normal under Biden. It’s not going to happen. At most, you can vote for the flavor of abnormal that you prefer. Good luck!

Brady PAC, which advocates for increased gun control, released an ad attacking Virginia Republican congressional candidate Nick Freitas on health care policy. The ad, for which Brady and the House Majority PAC paid, does not mention gun issues at all.

Brady’s turn away from gun-control messaging comes after Everytown, the largest gun-control group in the country, also abandoned the issue in election ads.

The change provides further evidence that Democrats and liberal interest groups do not view gun control as a winning issue in 2020—a year that has seen record gun sales and an influx of new gun owners.

George Mason University law professor Joyce Malcolm told the Washington Free Beacon that gun-control groups have lost faith in their core message and believe focusing on other issues is the best way to get their allies elected.

“The gun-control issue is a loser at this point,” she said. “So, the gun-control groups are pushing the health care issue in hopes of helping the election of Joe Biden.”

Biden’s pledge to take away “assault weapons” and support for a variety of strict new gun-control proposals are key reasons the groups support him, Malcolm said.

As professor of law at the College of William and Mary, St. George Tucker in 1803 published View of the Constitution—the first extended, systematic commentary on the United States Constitution after its ratification and later its amendment by the Bill of Rights. View was originally part of Tucker’s “Americanized” or “republicanized” edition of the multivolume Commentaries on the Laws of England by Sir William Blackstone. Generations of American law students, lawyers, judges, and statesmen learned their Blackstone—and also their understanding of the Constitution—through Tucker. As Clyde N. Wilson notes, “Tucker is the exponent of Jeffersonian republicanism . . . in contrast to the commercial republicanism of New England that has since the Civil War been taken to be the only true form of American philosophy.” In addition to the entirety of View, the Liberty Fund volume includes seven other essays from Tucker’s renowned edition of Blackstone. These include “On the Study of Law,” “Of the Unwritten, or Common Law of England,” and “Of the Several Forms of Government.”

St. George Tucker (1752–1827) was an officer in the American Revolutionary Army, a Professor of Law, justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, judge of the Federal District Court for Virginia by appointment of President James Madison, progenitor of a long line of jurists and scholars, and stepfather of John Randolph of Roanoke.
