Kamala Harris is Now Taking Biden’s Head of State Calls

Vice President Kamala Harris has begun taking calls on behalf of President Joe Biden, including those from key world leaders. The White House published a “Readout of Vice President Kamala Harris Call with President Emmanuel Macron of France” on Monday.

The readout said that Harris spoke with President Emmanuel Macron of France Monday as she expressed her commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the United States and France. The two agreed on the need for close bilateral and multilateral cooperation and discussed numerous regional challenges. Harris also thanked Macron for his leadership on gender equality.

Harris has also recently spoken with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, even as Biden continues to refuse to call Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.

In 2020, Biden raised eyebrows about his commitment to being president and his ability to serve his term when he called himself a “transition candidate.”
