Democrats Hate Every Second Amendment Victory Because It Challenges Their Monopoly On Power
Democrats hate the Second Amendment for the same reasons they hate free speech and fair elections: They want a monopoly on violence, words, and power.
When the U.S. Supreme Court struck down New York’s gun licensing scheme as unconstitutional last week, outraged leftists freaked out and started calling for the end of the judicial branch as we know it.
“It has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States,” far-left sports commentator Keith Olbermann tweeted. Other verified Twitter users claimed that, as a result of the ruling affirming Americans’ Second Amendment rights, the highest court in the land is “illegitimate,” “thoroughly corrupt,” and “mass shooters” wearing robes.
The law was accurately ruled unconstitutional, plain and simple, but that’s not good enough for leftists who despise the fact that Americans can and will defend themselves.
Why do Democrats despise the Second Amendment so much that they want to effectively banish a branch of the government over it? Because it strips them of their ability to control everything and accumulate power.
Democrats hate the Second Amendment for the same reasons they hate free speech and fair elections: They want a monopoly on violence, words, and power. The rights to self-defense, free speech, and clean elections are all that’s preventing leftists from destroying ordinary, patriotic, freedom-loving Americans like you and me.
If the left can neuter an entire society of the ability to protect itself, then they have successfully eliminated the effectiveness of constitutional rights as a whole. As Justice Clarence Thomas noted in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, no constitutional rights, including the right to bear arms, should have prerequisites.
“We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need,” Thomas wrote. “That is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion. It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant’s right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self-defense.”
Yet the left constantly and openly wages a restrictive war on these constitutional rights through censorship, gun-grabbing, and meddling.
Democrats only like the Constitution and its protections when it benefits them and their political goals. The increasing problem for the Democrat agenda, however, is that the leftist ideology so deeply ingrained in their party is inherently unconstitutional.
The Constitution no longer serves their goals because they don’t believe their political enemies should have rights. Take one look at any corporate media outlet’s coverage of the January 6 show trials and you’ll understand.
The idea all Americans are equipped with God-given and constitutionally affirmed rights makes Democrats shudder because it neuters them of their ability to control the country. When Americans have a right to free speech and self-defense, the left can’t impose its single-minded regime on the public nor can Democrats decide which forms of political violence are acceptable because rioters might pay for it.
That is the same reason Democrats hate fair and free elections. When Democrats can rig elections to grant themselves favorable outcomes, they have the power to pick and choose who gets what freedoms and rights.
More often than not, that power is weaponized through the Department of “Justice” against their adversaries like parents, Republican-led states, and members of the opposition’s most recent administration. What started as censoring and suppressing information that contradicts their preferred narrative has morphed into a full-blown war on an ideology that half of the country holds.
Democrats harbor a deeply undemocratic, un-American ideology that strongly contradicts everything laid out in the Constitution. And they will do everything they can to preserve the power they’ve accumulated and abandon the Constitution that denies them that power.
That’s why it’s so important for Republicans, especially those in the House and Senate, to avoid the emotional blackmail trap on guns and stand up for one of the last lines of defense Americans have against tyranny: gun rights.
