Slugged with his own gun. Yeah, that’ll play well in jail.

18-year-old tries to rob taxi driver, shot with his own gun

Gresham, Oregon…………

An 18-year-old is accused of trying to rob a taxi driver and getting shot with his own gun during a struggle, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called out at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday morning on reports of a robbery near the intersection of SW 188th Court and SW Farmington Road. The cab driver told deputies that he picked up 18-year-old Josiah Johnson in Gresham. When Johnson asked to go to the Aloha area, the driver asked for partial payment up front or collateral because of the long drive.

Deputies said Johnson gave the driver his cell phone, and then they drove to a home near the intersection of SW 188th Court and SW Farmington Road. When they arrived, the driver said Johnson tried to pay with a fake $100 bill, which he immediately recognized was fraudulent. That’s when deputies said Johnson pulled a gun out and pointed it at the back of the cab driver’s head and started yelling.

According to deputies, the driver saw an opportunity to grab the gun from Johnson, so he did. A struggle over the gun ensued, and it went off – hitting Johnson. Both Johnson and the cab driver got out of the car, where the fight continued. Deputies said the cab driver was able to get the gun away from Johnson, throw it away from both of them, and yell for help.

Neighbors heard the commotion, helped the cab driver hold Johnson down, and called 911. Deputies arrived shortly after. Johnson was arrested at the scene and taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries, according to deputies.

Johnson was later booked into the Washington County jail on:

  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Assault in the fourth degree
  • Menacing
  • Unlawful use of a weapon
  • Criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree
  • Possession of a controlled substance – schedule IV

Billings pizza delivery driver shoots alleged robber

One man is in the hospital with a gunshot wound after apparently trying to rob a worker delivering a pizza on the South Side Friday night.

Multiple Billings Police Department cruisers responded around 8:20 p.m. to the 300 block of South 28th Street, blocking off a portion of the road between Third and Fourth Avenue South. The condition of the man is unknown, and police are still conducting an investigation.

“The pizza delivery guy was attempting to deliver pizzas, when he claims that he was robbed. While in the process of being robbed, in self-defense he’s claiming, he fired a weapon, striking the suspect,” said Billings Police Sgt. Clyde Reid.

A white Sedan at the scene had a cracked windshield with visible holes. Reid said the suspect was struck in the abdomen, and then ran into a nearby alleyway where officers apprehended him. The delivery man remained under questioning by police, while the suspect was transported to St. Vincent Healthcare.

Reid said no arrests have been made, and detectives will be at the scene to continue the investigation.

“Right now, we’re trying to contact people in the area to find out what they’ve seen, trying to prove or disprove what we’ve been told,” he said.

Richardson gun store owner fakes heart attack, grabs gun to shoot armed robber

RICHARDSON, Texas – A group of armed men robbed a Richardson gun store Thursday, but one of them didn’t get away from the scene.

Mike Brown runs Mike’s Gun Room by himself. The 77-year-old says the group of masked men first acted like shoppers and then made it clear they came to rob the place. Brown pretended he was having heart trouble. It bought him enough time to grab a gun and shoot one of the suspects.

It’s a scenario Brown has played out inside his mind for the 26 years he’s owned a gun store, but Wednesday was the first time he says it happened.

Brown says three men came into his store at first seemed like they were shopping. Then, their actions changed. “They told me to get around behind the counter,” he said. “Get down on the floor.”

Brown says they held guns to the back of his head and then stole at least 50 weapons. The 77-year old says he faked having a heart condition in order to get his own gun. “I’ve got a heart medication and I’ve got to get to my pills,” he said.

Brown says the men started to leave by the time he grabbed his gun, so he pointed it at the only person still inside. “I told him to stop,” he said. “He turned around and I saw he had one handgun in his hand when he turned around.”

Brown shot the man in the shoulder. He fell to the ground outside while his accomplices drove off. Police arrived, and he’s now in custody at a hospital.

“I would not say it’s very common during the day like the situation here,” said Sara Able with the ATF Dallas Field Division. The ATF believes Brown was targeted since he works alone and he doesn’t have surveillance. Agents are concerned about where those guns might end up. “They are known to end up in the hands of those who commit violent crimes,” Able said.

Richardson police are searching for at least three other people involved. They may be driving a Chevy Impala with a paper license plate. “I’m sorry I had to shoot somebody, but — better than Plan B,” Brown said, referring to the possibility of him being shot.

The marine and Vietnam veteran who says he is used to high-pressure situations has a message for the ones who got away.

“Don’t come back,” he said. “I’ve got more ammo.”

Man wounded after kicking in door of Fort Worth residence in home invasion

A man was shot and wounded early Wednesday after he kicked in the front door of a Fort Worth home in what police say was a possible attempt to steal guns from the residence, police said.

The wounded suspect fled the scene and police continued their search for him Wednesday. The home invasion occurred just before 1:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Roaring Springs Road.

Witnesses told Fort Worth police that after he entered the home, the suspect began assaulting a woman. Her son shot the suspect in the leg.

The woman who had been assaulted in the home refused medical treatment, police said. The suspect jumped into a nearby vehicle, possibly accompanied by a woman, and drove to his sister’s home on Bonita Drive, but he fled again once he learned that his sister had called police. His companion was with him, Fort Worth police said.

Wonderful idiot copy writers. The homeowner shot to defend himself, not because the thug was trespassing.

Man shot in the arm after attacking ex-girlfriend, 2-year-old child

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot in the arm and may face charges after attacking his ex-girlfriend and her 2-year-old child on the West Side, according to San Antonio police. The incident happened a little after 8 p.m. Friday in the 3700 block of Wurzbach Road.

Appears to me that trying to rob people at car washes isn’t the smartest thing to do. Of course, no one ever said that most criminals were smart.

Wilkinsburg Home Intruder Apparently Shot, Killed By Accomplice

WILKINSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) — Allegheny County Police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Wilkinsburg.

According to police, this started out as a home invasion. Around 11 p.m. Monday night five people inside a house — three men and two women — were met with intruders.

Allegheny County Police say the home invasion along Penn Avenue involved two intruders. Police say when they were inside, they were confronted by two armed men who live in the home.

Police said soon afterward, one of the intruders began shooting then ran out through the front door, while the second intruder ran out through the back door.

Shots fired, screaming and yelling is something Howard Jackson doesn’t typically hear at night. But he did less than 24 hours ago, right across from where he lives.

“Violence is tremendous today,” said Howard Jackson.

While Wilkinsburg Police were searching the area, they found the body of a 29-year old man along the intersection of Superior Street and Penn Avenue. That man was found wearing a ski mask.

Allegheny County Police say through their investigation, they found the two armed men who live in the home did not return fire. As of Tuesday morning, investigators say it appears the man was struck by gunfire from his accomplice.

“I know it woke up the neighborhood. I mean the people in the apartment building — because people started coming out of their homes,” said Jackson.

Looks to me like the burg bungler finally found what he was looking for.

The restaurant owner will probably get off on self defense, but I still don’t advise people to do their own police work.

Vegan restaurant owner shoots suspected burglar over Third Ward break-in

An owner of a burgled Third Ward vegan restaurant tracked down a man suspected of the break-in and shot him in the leg, according to police.
The break-in at Green Seed Vegan, 4320 Almeda Road, was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the owners had “a really good description” of the suspect from surveillance footage and officers set off to find him.
“Unbeknownst to us, the owners were also looking for the suspect,” Houston police Commander Caroleta Johnson said.

About an hour later, a report of a suspicious person with a weapon was reported at Fannin and Stuart Street in Midtown. There, police found the accused burglar — identified Thursday morning as 37-year-old Jermyn Russell — with a gunshot wound to the leg. He is expected to survive and a burglary charge is pending his release from a hospital.

Police said they believe at least one of the owners tracked down the alleged burglar and confronted him. An argument began over what was believed to be stolen property — which officials described as iPads and other electronics — and escalated to gunfire, police said. Amid the shooting investigation, blood could be seen on the sidewalk.

The owners were briefly detained for questioning, police said, but charges against the shooter are pending the results of a Harris County grand jury.
The Green Seed Vegan owners could not be reached for comment and a woman who answered the phone at the eatery said she was too busy filling take-out orders.

No charges filed against Wapato man in fatal shooting

WAPATO, Wash.– A 31-year-old Wapato man who shot a man and wounded another man will not be facing charges at this time, according to Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic.

Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic says Jesse Villa shot and killed 27-year-old Tadd Blodgett and wounded 22-year-old Isaac Bobb on August 20.

Blodgett and Bobb are enrolled Yakima Nation tribal members, according to a police report.

According to a police report, Jesse Villa arrived home from work at about 3 a.m. to find his wife and three men outside at the 700 block of W. 7th St.

WOMAN USES BEAR RIFLE TO STOP KIDNAPPING NEAR WALTON

EUGENE, Ore. – A local woman used her bear rifle to save a kidnapping victim from possibly being murdered on Sunday, keeping one of the armed assailants at bay.

In an interview with KEZI 9 News, the woman said she spotted the man, who was badly beaten, on Highway 126 near Walton as she was on her way to go bear hunting. After calling 911 the victim told her he and his girlfriend had been kidnapped, and the kidnapper was driving his car, which was parked nearby.

“He is going to kill me, and he’s probably going to kill you since you are here,” the man told her.

The woman, whose identity we are not revealing, said she told the man to find a place to hide. When she saw another man walking down the highway with a handgun, she got her hunting rifle out and waited for troopers to arrive.

Troopers arrived to the scene at about 7:30 a.m. but the suspect had already fled the scene on foot. He and a second suspect remain at large, and a third was taken into custody.

Michael Light, 39, of Florence, faces charges of second-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping.

Investigators say Light and the two other men assaulted the man for an extended period of time in his campsite. Light then kidnapped a woman, who the bear hunter says was the victim’s girlfriend and Light’s ex-girlfriend.

A search found Light and the female victim in a vehicle in the area, and Light was taken into custody. The woman suffered minor injuries.

Michael Lokey-Wilson, 31, of Florence and Jonathan Dakota Appelt, 28, of Florence were identified as the other two suspects involved.

Occupied burglary with shots fired by resident in Yakima County

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that an unknown person or persons had forced open the door to his home when he was asleep on the couch Friday morning.

The 911 call was placed from a residence in the 900 block of Van Belle Road in unincorporated Yakima County at 6:13 am.

The resident stated he woke up and yelled at the two suspects in his hallway. One of the individuals replied with an expletive before they both ran from the home.

The homeowner attempted to disable the vehicle with a shot to the rear tire with his shotgun as the burglars were driving away. The resident described the vehicle as an early 2000’s dark green Ford extended cab truck.

The homeowner was able to describe one of the suspects as follows:

A dark-skinned white or Hispanic male, average height and weight with short dark hair covered by a dark baseball cap.

The report shows no items were missing from the home or property according to the resident.
