St. Louis Couple Who Defended Home with Guns Offer Warning at RNC

The St. Louis couple who brandished guns to protect their home from Black Lives Matter protesters two months ago spoke on opening night of the Republican National Convention, warning that if Democrats win in November, American suburbs will be in trouble.

Yet in the first paragraph of its report, Reuters said the couple—Mark and Patricia McCloskey—repeated “unfounded claims by President Donald Trump that Democrats will destroy America’s suburbs.”

As if to contradict Reuters, Black congressional candidate Kim Klacik appeared in a video in which she strolled through the Baltimore neighborhood she hopes to represent as a Republican, showing the decay that has occurred under more than 50 years of Democrat control. According to Fox News, her campaign advertisement has been viewed more than 11.4 million times.

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, updated retail survey-based estimates and concluded that nearly 5 million Americans purchased a firearm for the very first time in 2020. NSSF surveyed firearm retailers which reported that 40 percent of sales were conducted to purchasers who have never previously owned a firearm.

NSSF tracks the background checks associated with the sale of a firearm based on the FBI’s National Instant Background Check System (NICS). NSSF-adjusted NICS checks for January through July 2020 is a record 12.1 million, which is up 71.7 percent from the 7.1 million NSSF-adjusted NICS January through July 2019. WOMAN USES BEAR RIFLE TO STOP KIDNAPPING NEAR WALTON

EUGENE, Ore. – A local woman used her bear rifle to save a kidnapping victim from possibly being murdered on Sunday, keeping one of the armed assailants at bay.

In an interview with KEZI 9 News, the woman said she spotted the man, who was badly beaten, on Highway 126 near Walton as she was on her way to go bear hunting. After calling 911 the victim told her he and his girlfriend had been kidnapped, and the kidnapper was driving his car, which was parked nearby.

“He is going to kill me, and he’s probably going to kill you since you are here,” the man told her.

The woman, whose identity we are not revealing, said she told the man to find a place to hide. When she saw another man walking down the highway with a handgun, she got her hunting rifle out and waited for troopers to arrive.

Troopers arrived to the scene at about 7:30 a.m. but the suspect had already fled the scene on foot. He and a second suspect remain at large, and a third was taken into custody.

Michael Light, 39, of Florence, faces charges of second-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping.

Investigators say Light and the two other men assaulted the man for an extended period of time in his campsite. Light then kidnapped a woman, who the bear hunter says was the victim’s girlfriend and Light’s ex-girlfriend.

A search found Light and the female victim in a vehicle in the area, and Light was taken into custody. The woman suffered minor injuries.

Michael Lokey-Wilson, 31, of Florence and Jonathan Dakota Appelt, 28, of Florence were identified as the other two suspects involved.

The Lincoln Project fabricates racist Trump supporter

In a since-deleted tweet, Project Lincoln posted a video of President Donald Trump’s re-nomination speech on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Trump stated that the Democrats are trying to steal the presidential election again, but this time with universal mail-in voting which the GOP claims is a liability for voter fraud. The Left’s vote-by-mail campaign was preceded by spying in the 2016 race. Trump noted that Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden were among those caught red-handed by Republicans.

That’s when a pro-Trump advocate supposedly shouted, “Monkey!” in reference to the former black president. The Lincoln Project added that “the president relished in it.”

“Disgusting,” Project Lincoln’s account signed off before they rescinded the fake story.

What’s truly disgusting: the alleged incident is yet another lie fabricated and circulated by the Never-Trump group.

In actuality, the audience member shouted, “Spygate!”

Even Trump told his fan: “Let’s be nice.” And the crowd revered.

Detroit Women Flock to Gun Training.

Tanisha Moner has had a gun pointed at her twice in her life. Once by two strangers who kidnapped, robbed, and sexually assaulted her when she was 17. And, again, by another robber as she worked a management shift at a restaurant.

The traumatic experiences left her scarred, afraid of guns, shuddering at the sound of a firework and popped balloon. That changed the day she decided to face her fears and showed up for a gun-carry class at a local range.

“Succumbing to your own fear is the only thing that can stop you from doing anything you want to do,” Moner told the Washington Free Beacon.

Glacier National Park is removing “glaciers will be gone by 2020” signs

KALISPELL — For more than a decade, signs at Glacier National Park warned visitors that the glaciers would be gone by the year 2020 – now those signs are being changed.

They were originally added to the park to reflect climate change predictions by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Glacier National Park spokeswoman Gina Kurzmen explained that the latest research shows shrinking of some glaciers, but in ways much more complex than what was predicted. Because of this, the park must update all signs around the park which state that all glaciers will be melted by 2020.

Wisconsin Governor Calls in National Guard following Rioting Sparked by Police Shooting of Black Man

Wisconsin governor Tony Evers ordered 125 National Guard members to the city of Kenosha on Monday, following riots that erupted after police shot a black man while responding to a domestic violence call on Sunday.

The guard members will be charged with “guarding infrastructure and making sure our firefighters and others involved are protected,” Evers told reporters.

Video of the incident showed police shooting Jacob Blake in the back while responding to the call, and drew immediate condemnation from Evers. Full details of the incident have not yet been released.

At a press conference on Monday, Kenosha mayor John Antaramian and various community representatives called for all demonstrations to be peaceful.

“When moments like this come, we have to come together to make it better,” Tim Mahone, a board member of the philanthropic Mahone Foundation based in Kenosha, said through tears. “Please don’t destroy our community.”

“Things have been very heated, tons of damage to cop cars, an officer was actually knocked out,” an observer told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

WHY “LARGE CAPACITY MAGAZINES” ARE IMPORTANT

We recently discussed here the Ninth Circuit’s decision that limiting private citizens to a magazine capacity of ten rounds was unconstitutional.

The Court referred to them as LCMs, Large Capacity Magazines. We gun people call them Standard Capacity Magazines since that’s what so many of the firearms in question – handguns, rifles, and even shotguns – were originally designed for.  It continues to amaze me that people whose critical thinking skills are otherwise intact can’t “get it” on this issue.

First, of course, is the utter stupidity of believing that criminals who are prepared to commit murder and face life in prison without possibility of parole, or even capital punishment, will somehow be deterred from breaking a magazine limit law. But let’s look at the common questions of “Why do private citizens need more than ten bullets to defend themselves? And if they do, why can’t they just reload, or carry more guns?”

For one thing, most home defense guns are stored in secure places and not carried on one’s person when at home.  A home invasion can happen in seconds. When you grab the gun, it’s unlikely you’ll have time to grab more ammunition: what’s in it at the start is probably all you’ll have until it’s over, one way or the other.  Do you want the two rounds in a Joe Biden Signature Model double barrel shotgun against three or more armed home invaders?

For another, violent criminals running on adrenaline and often drugs and alcohol can soak up bullet after bullet before they run out of blood or a lucky hit short-circuits their central nervous system.  More bad guys wear body armor today than in the time of John Dillinger: current news shows violent Antifas wearing it openly.  And surgical bullet placement for a single bullet in tense life-or-death circumstances is more the exception than the norm.

Magazine limits have a disproportionate, disparate impact against the elderly and the handicapped.  It’s hard enough for someone in a wheelchair to get to a gun at all, never mind packing spare magazines or extra guns. And how does the wheelchair-bound victim get to cover to reload in any case? I can testify from experience that arthritic hands slow you down, too. How much of a nightmare is it to run out of ammo when you’re trying to save your family from a home invader? This article will give you an example.

If your state has a magazine capacity limit, the recent Ninth Circuit decision cited above offers some hope for the future. If your state allows you to have standard capacity magazines, fight like hell to keep them when, as they eventually will, Prohibitionists attempt to prohibit them.

And now along comes Yoram Hazony to explain what it’s all about in his Quillette essay “The challenge of Marxism.”

In the podcast below, Quillette also features Hazony discussing the vulnerability of liberal institutions like the New York Times to capture by the hard Left, as discussed in his essay. Hazony’s dire account of the present discontents may be too respectful of Marxist theory and oblivious to the true meaning of equality, but Hazony is doing intellectual work that is necessary for our defense. Indeed, he has a good handle on the weakness of liberalism in the face of Marxist attack. I wonder if his anticipation of a liberal opposition or resistance to the neo-Marxist assault may be overoptimistic for this reason.
